Thanks for posting this, you made my day and I can't wait to fill Richie in on your sucessful build! Nice job on both the model and the field charger. As far as the model's name, I decided to call it "Minute Made" because it generally "made" a minute with a full charge and good conditions! I need to build a couple more ...the ones I had have all flown away. It doesn't take much of a thermal to suck it into the sky. BTW, Richie and I have been pushing the capacitors a bit harder by increasing the voltage on the charging lead from 3.15/3.20 up to about 3.30/3.35. (turn up left hand blue trimpot on circuit board) At this setting you begin to see the variation between individual caps. Some will charge right up to 3 volts, others top out right at 2.7. The ones that take the higher charge really add to the performance a lot. We haven't noticed any adverse effects, of course the charging ampere limit is still 800ma-1000ma.
Sounds like you guys had a great time at the flying field in spite of the cold...and man, that Dakota was really awesome too! I am jealous that you have a large enough area to turn it loose. Richie keeps promising to fly his gassie Dakota again...wait till I show him this video, it's gonna fire him up! Stay safe and have fun guys...Mike and Richie

Mike, Thanks for the tips. I will boost the output voltage slightly. If you want to see a really well trimmed Dakota flying check out this video: th-cam.com/video/gaFw4YfBw-k/w-d-xo.html
Hope to see more of your videos, and if you guys are ever down this way (Southern NJ) you are welcome to come fly with us. BTW, many years ago I lived not too far from you. I was stationed at Westover, and lived in South Hadley. Stay well guys,
      Frank

@@nightnav Thanks Frank. Westover is an air reserve base now, lots of c5's and c-130's in and out of there...here in Monson we get to see them all on long final to the main runway! I was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson back in the early 1970's, worked on the M61 gatling guns on A7D aircraft.
Also, I don't know if you or your flying buddies do facebook, but we have a "sonex413 Pilots' Lounge" page there and would love to have you guys on board. I took the liberty of having this video linked there by my friend and fellow admin "Danger" Chris. I also added it to the "What Our Viewers Are Building" playlist on the sonex413 channel home page. Say hi to all your flying buddies from me and Rich, they sound like a fun bunch!....stay safe, Mike

@@sonex413 Thanks Mike, I will check out the "sonex413 Pilots' Lounge" and pass the word around. BTW - When I was at Westover all the B52s had been deployed to Guam. That was 1973. I was only there for 6 months and then set to Udon, Thailand to work on F4s. I was in electronic counter measures.
      Take care, Frank
