I’m new/returning to the sport as I did help my grandad race as a boy but my mam had cancer at the time and when she passed due to it I lost all interest in my pigeons and due to my grandads health and my lack of regards for the birds he had to give up the birds on our 3rd year racing just after I’d placed the year before with my own bird (I regret this now but I wasn’t able to help myself never mind my grandad)
This is exactly what I want to do, build my own line of pigeons. I already have the name just need the top end birds to make it happen and I’m only 27 this year so guess I really do have the time to build my own line as I’m not to bothered about being the best racer winning week after week as most racers use some others persons builds/birds yet I want to have my own line and yes to start the line as a successor I’ll need to win and place but I really am more interested in the breeding and building of the pigeon from short to long I want a bloodline in all.
In years to come you could see the Forrest-Hill birds up there with the best. Just have to get a small yet decent race loft build and some decent blood racers.
After the year+ we have all had I’ve found myself again and know deep down this is my calling. Nothing thrilled me more as a boy then waiting on a Saturday morning up the ladders watching the sky for that first bird to appear. If you could race pigeons for a Job/career I’d be living the dream.
Thank you for this information I will use this information well.

Great video, but tons of info to follow, would you make a chart of what the Pedigree or a chart would look like over time

This was a great video! You are right with respect to the information. What do you think of looking at DNA testing and fixing the traits by the genes of the good racers rather than the basket only? Seems to be a faster way to get the genes fixed.

It would be. I have thought of having the tested for the genes already identified and only breed from those with them to create a colony of those only.

What percentage of the line would it be if you breed a pigeon with it’s half aunt on the dad’s side and which is also a half aunt on the mother’s side?
