As much as I have MAD respect for vaulters, I have ten times as much for their horses. Having a person whirling all around your neck and butt like that without even so much as blinking? Now that is one awesome horse!
Especially considering that the horses must perform with their heads forced down so they have to strain to see what is ahead of them. I thought this was abolished with the circus.
Wobbles and Bean man it’s not that hard to train a vaulting horse if you where a vaulter you would understand and I. Jot saying I. Better than these girls I wallet with my stand at trot
Kelley C then how can you blame people for not adding this awesome sport too?I'm not disagreeing with the fact that this sport is legitimate. I just don't like when people condemn a sport they've never tried
Wow this is the craziest thing I've ever seen! People actually do this? I couldn't imagine trying to lift my body up and contort it in all those crazy positions while also trying to keep my balance on a moving horse! People really are fearless, my God. I wonder who the person was that decided, "hmm, I think I'm going to do some flips on my horse today....just, you know, cause."
I am doing this since nearly 13 years now (i am 19yo!) and I am nowhere near flips yet! Your skills don't only come from practise, it's trust in your horse and trainer too and trust in yourself! I fell many times, got hurt and still keep going. I want to get where these ladies are.
I trained horses up to Grand Prix in dressage, when my kids started equestrian vaulting. These horses are specially trained and they love their work. Nobody can push a horse into this. I have never! encountered better fit horses than this high level athletes.
they run around in circles for a few hours? Can't help think this is cruel... like those orcas at seaworld trained to live in chlorinated pools performing tricks. Seems totally unnecessary
it's usually not longer then like 5 minutes, horses are domesticated animals and most have it great. People that have the money to enter an event like this have the money for luxurious stables.
pixiecouture731 Few hours? She didn't say anything like this. Longing normal horses takes usually about 15 - 20 minutes and theese ones are special trained.
This is amazing. I've only done very simple vaulting before (riding seat, free kneel, and full flag). I can't imagine doing vaulting this extreme (especially not on my horses).
Is it just me, or is a horse one of the only animals you can do such a wide variety of sports with? This is amazing! The strength, coordination, and trust to name a few, between the horse and rider is incredible!! Horses are amazing animals!! I only game with my girl, but I wish I could do something like this!!
people in the Olympics say vaulting is hard, well put that to the 2nd power and on the back of a moving horse and then we can talk about it being hard.
Those who are saying vaulting is animal cruelty have certainly not seen how bad it is in dressage and show jumping. You haven't seen rollkur or the blue tongue. You haven't seen the world of horse racing, where horses break their legs during the race. You haven't seen the torturing of tennessee walking horses, you haven't seen the death of Hickstead. You haven't seen YOURSELF when you were practicing how to sit when trotting. You haven't seen how your horse was hurting while you were happily bouncing there like a sack of potatoes. You havent seen spurs and whips and what kind of damage they can do. So don't you dare to say that vaulting is cruelty. It is not and you know it. You just have to justify your own animal cruelty blaming it on others. In the most recent researches, the scientists found out that the dressage horses had the highest number of dangerous cervical spine injuries. Among the vaulting horses that was extremely rare. A fun fact: we, vaulters, do test how does it feel to be a horse. We jump on each other and do our routines once or twice on top of our laying team member. And guess what: it doesn't hurt. If I, a human who weights around 65kg, don't hurt my team member by jumping on top of her, I guess that doesn't hurt our horse, which weights about 500kg. Not a once has he bucked. He is always happily doing his job and he is allowed to protest if he is hurt. Many people believe that vaulting does not require technique, but in reality the technique is everything. Without proper and soft technique you WILL hurt the horse and the horse WILL buck and you WILL be breaking some bones (if not every single one you have). The horse's wellbeing is our number 1 priority, and our horse is not a tool. Our horse is a member of our team. As a rider loves her horse, we love ours. Do I have a right to say this? I think I do. I am a rider and a vaulter. I know the problems in both sports. If you are not a vaulter, you basically know nothing about this sport. Blaming vaulters will only make you look like a moron. Thank you, who understood that vaulting is a horse friendly sport! :) And sorry for my english, I am not a native speaker!
hey its not torture if the horse like to do it. If the horse like to jump let it jump, if the horse like dressage let it do it. i mean depends if the horse are lucky ore not. and you kinda make me feel: oh so if we break something it is torture? well it is not, i ride dressage and my horse like it. we dont use it as a tool either, we love them and i ride as if we were one, not a horse, and a human, no a team. so dont say dressage and show jumping are animal cruelty. it is if the horse hates it and gets forced to it, but not when the horse likes to jump and do the dressage, and horse racing. and i can keep on the whole night. im srry my bad english 13 year old norwegian girl.
Thru3 Soyasaus Thank you for your reply, but it seems you missed the point. As I said, I'm a rider, too, and I happen to know the best and worst of both worlds. I was merely talking about the cruelty which happens in these sports but I had no intention to imply that they are torture. I repeat: I did NOT say that dressage or showjumping or any other equestrian sport is cruelty, instead I said that there are sad cases in every kind. Why would I ride if I thought it was torture for the horse? Why would I do equetrian vaulting if I thought it was torture for the horse?
there are so many comments where people are like "to the people saying this is animal cruelty..", but i haven't seen any ACTUALLY saying that it's animal cruelty. good job drowning out the hate! (if there was any in the first place)
wow very talented people!! the first horse was absolutely gorgeous!!! Must take years to develope that skill!! A lot of trust, pations, and skill, must go into this sport, for both horse and rider. Great Work!!
LG saxi8
Ok some ppl in the comments think vaulting is cruelty but listen to me if the horse was uncomfortable, hurting, not happy etc. the horse would’ve bucked, and vaulters practice very hard to land softly on the horse. Personally I do show jumping and hunter jumper stuff so I’m no expert on vaulting but one thing it’s not cruelty if it was why would the vaulters still be riding the horse would’ve bucked them off along time ago if the horse was uncomfortable. Also most who ride (like me) love their horses and make sure their horses are comfortable. So what I’m saying is this isn’t cruelty. Is the horse hurting? No. It’s not cruelty or abuse.
The evolution of vaulting was from circus act into an internationally recognised sport. Part of the challenge is in finding horses that are temperamentally and physically suited to the work.
As much as I understand the people looking at this and shouting "abuse!", I'd like to point out that 1) There's quite a bit of padding on that horse, especially where she is landing! 2) She only did 2 big jumps and even then... 3) If she's rolling through her feet properly, the impact is minimal. I learned this in my years of a ballet dancer, it's how mos of us dance so quietly~ I'm suprised this isnt an olympic sport!
Goodness me some people really are daft, these horses are pampered! They have the best treatment in all aspects! It's not like they are living wild on exmoor and having I rough it through harsh winters. Stop saying how cruel it is and realise the fantastic treatment they get
those of you who think this is abuse and think they slam their feet in the horse are sadly mistaken vaulters train their horses and treat them well vaulters are trained to land softly but you would only know that if your a vaulter
I am reminiscing. I was a vaulter. People don’t know this sport in the US. If we only look at the faults in life, we will never complete the mastery of the moment. Bravo ladies ❤
People, the second girl has interpreteted a role. Therefore she does behave like her role. This has nothing to do with her own.personality! So please, dont talk so bad about her...
Even though my equestrian sport is dressage, I do equestrian vaulting for fun. I was introduced to it when I was 8. I remember expecting a saddled horse and seeing THAT in my front, but I loved it.
I know this is really cool but what got me thinking is how do they train these horses to remain calm during this I don’t do show jumping or dressage for one main reason it is the abuse the animals get while these people are training them like in show jumping some of those jumps are to high for the horse to jump and it causes major leg problems or in dressage the horse neck is not supposed to stay like that for that long this is just my opinion everyone has one right. I not saying this contains abuse on the horse but who knows what some people do.
Okay, maybe I did. But still, I don't appreciate someone hating on a sport that they love. My best friends a cheerleader and I think this is compeletly rude, she devotes more of her time to her sport than I do to riding. Humans come in all different shapes and sizes not all are going to be completely fit or some might be slower, you have to choreograph your paces and all that jazz. I'd rather fall off my horse than being thrown in the air and no one catch me anyday.
what an amazing bunch of horses and girls, working together like it was the simplest thing ever. Would like to ride every one of these horses, would be amazing.
Lol, people were saying that she hits the horse at 5:04 and that its cruel and stuff, but sorry, that isn't 'hitting'. The horse didn't listen very well and that little 'hit' was really nothing. Lotta trust is needed!
The horses are amazing, they know just when to stop when a vaulter falls. The have the ability somehow to sense instability.
Especially considering that the horses must perform with their heads forced down so they have to strain to see what is ahead of them. I thought this was abolished with the circus.
It takes years for them to be fully trained so that we can do all these things
Wobbles and Bean man it’s not that hard to train a vaulting horse if you where a vaulter you would understand and I. Jot saying I. Better than these girls I wallet with my stand at trot
How is this not an olympic sport, but curling is??
you just make comment of the century
because there are people like you who judge sports before trying them...
I don't want to try curling
Kelley C then how can you blame people for not adding this awesome sport too?I'm not disagreeing with the fact that this sport is legitimate. I just don't like when people condemn a sport they've never tried
You're right I don't know how difficult curling is it just looks silly to me but I don't understand golf either, I shouldn't judge things I don't know
Wow this is the craziest thing I've ever seen!
They have special saddles that hook themselves in so they don't fall
lol that's not how it works ;) i do it since 8 years and still can't do a flip
+Mandy Rainbow haha Same i wish...
Where r u from?
I am doing this since nearly 13 years now (i am 19yo!) and I am nowhere near flips yet! Your skills don't only come from practise, it's trust in your horse and trainer too and trust in yourself! I fell many times, got hurt and still keep going. I want to get where these ladies are.

Addaria Braut do you know what kind of breed those horses where in the video
I train horses up to Grand Prix too!
people in my class, think this is sooo easy. And i'm like, "You have noo idea how hard this is"
So true..
True!
Pernille Wiken it’s extremely difficult! Having to have a soft landing after backflipping and then standing up is hard! But good for your balance
Pernille Wiken easy?! Are they insane?! 😂
So true
This is amazing. I've only done very simple vaulting before (riding seat, free kneel, and full flag). I can't imagine doing vaulting this extreme (especially not on my horses).
The trick, no pun lol is find a horse with a flat wide back..if they have a thin pronounced hick it is much harder
How is this not in the Olympics?
Totally!
I wish they would put it in.
But meanwhile at least there is WEG
Not enough teams / countries
Cam ikr
I think that its cool that instead of the horse doing jumps the girl is
Is it just me, or is a horse one of the only animals you can do such a wide variety of sports with? This is amazing! The blue tongue in show-jumping only happens to people who don't know what their doing.
ohh missunderstod what you were saying...
The gaits of vaulting horses always look so incredibly amazing to ride. I fall in love every time I watch them!
These horses are impeccably trained. Incredible job. 💝👏
That is just great. I love the way their tricks match the music. Also the horses are just beautiful
Those horses are so gorgeous!
Those ladies are also well trained!
The first horse looked like it was bowing it's head with the girls at the end of their performance
ikr xD
I'd guess the horse was trained for that, it looked really cool.
I wonder if the Horse ever wonders whats happening on his back ? But this is so amazing. They have such amazing balance !
I love the pure personality and talent that Simone Jaiser presented. She was actually my favorite.
Wow... and I can't even SIT on cantering horse very well haha.
same here xD
lol I can't even canter yet
Bethany Jennings same here
Bethany Jennings even on a smooth horse I can't !
How can they stay up for so long?
Liza Wild was great!! Love her little routine and costume and everything!
there are so many comments where people are like "to the people saying this is animal cruelty..", but i haven't seen any ACTUALLY saying that it's animal cruelty. good job drowning out the hate! (if there was any in the first place)

that is what u call balance, absolutely amazing

It is undesireable brilliant performance a grand salute to the trainers & programmers
W-who needs arms... with legs like THOSE?! All four of them!
(Really though. This is so fantastic.)
+Kona the Cat Mettaton is that you? XD
Das glaube ich auch noch
*AMAZING !*
To be able to be one with the horse like that is AMAZING
Amazing!! I could never beat that well done!
This puts a whole new meaning to the term 'Around the World' !!
HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS?!! The horses are gorgeous!!
Ok I love the third performance to me it is just amazing
As much as I understand the people looking at this and shouting "abuse!", I'd like to point out that

Yesterday I saw one of the best vaulters austrias. She gave us tips to get better and stuff.
i can barely ride very well, this is amazing. i wish i was able to do that.
you'll be great enough to one day
I love vaulting
that was incredible, absolutely beautiful
I'm in love with the Last horse!!!
Goodness me some people really are daft, these horses are pampered! They have the best treatment in all aspects! It's not like they are living wild on exmoor and having I rough it through harsh winters. Stop saying how cruel it is and realise the fantastic treatment they get
This is so amazing my horse back riding coach told me to check this out and I am very glad that I did because it is so cool
those of you who think this is abuse and think they slam their feet in the horse are sadly mistaken vaulters train their horses and treat them well vaulters are trained to land softly but you would only know that if your a vaulter
These are beautiful horses, riders and moves I love this video!!!!
The first song is Celtic Woman's "O, America!"
I used to say that all the time - and now I have one. Just work hard and your dreams will come true :)
Beautiful horses amazing riders how do they stay on? I still find a trot unseating
wow, lisa wild hat wirklich super ausgesehen!
I find that sad that the girl who won was the only one who didn't pat her horse after their routine!
I am reminiscing. I was a vaulter. People don’t know this sport in the US.
If we only look at the faults in life, we will never complete the mastery of the moment.
Bravo ladies ❤
Sarah Kay is the best😍😍😍
People, the second girl has interpreteted a role. Therefore she does behave like her role. This has nothing to do with her own.personality! So please, dont talk so bad about her...
That was the most amazing thing ever!
Sarah Kay got 3rd? I thought her routine was the best, and her music was GORGEOUS
Great video!

Love this!! It's beautiful!
When I was young I do that but now I am old x)
The ultimate trust exercise
It is Celtic Woman's "O, America!" They have several albums and every one is amazing.
I ADORED THE LAST ONE :O
I like watching trick riding videos but vaulting is so much prettier
The third is amazing!
Last horse is absolutley gorgeous!
Wow very impressive! I agree I hated the second girls attitude but they were all very talented and so were the horses.
I'd rather fall off my horse than being thrown in the air and no one catch me anyday.
i think it used to be. i dont know why they removed it. it really really deserves to be in the Olympics.
But i like the last one (Lisa) the best. She knows to devide her weight the best.
Amazing- I am going to try this at 47 years old - wish me luck!
how tall was that first horse? I don't know whether its the vaulter being small or if that horse is large but he absolutely towers over her!
I think it's both XD
Samantha Heffernan it looks around 15-16hh
Vaulting horses are normally really big. I vaulted on one that was 18+ hands
they are so awesome!!!
2 was awesome!!
AMAZING!
I have a 19 hand Clydesdale and I don't even think he could survive this o.O he would be too erritated
what an amazing bunch of horses and girls, working together like it was the simplest thing ever. Would like to ride every one of these horses, would be amazing.
So good !
Wow so amazing lots and lots of practice
I would LOVE to try vaulting, but I have never done gymnastics :/
I am not a really big fan but that was AMAZING!
they are missing vaulting and barrel racing
I like the first and last one!
This is so cool, im a gymnast but I would never get up on a horse, you are so brave :)
Izzie Rhead I love vaulting I am never going to stop!
Sarah Kay, you are the best!
W..O..W!!! they were all amazing!!!
amazing. The skill!
FEI World Cup Vaulting - Munich, Top 3 Females
Lol, people were saying that she hits the horse at 5:04 and that its cruel and stuff, but sorry, that isn't 'hitting'. The horse didn't listen very well and that little 'hit' was really nothing. It's a line (My English isnt perfect, so I dont know if it's called this for sure). A horse doesn't feel a soft tick with a line....
Totally true!
It probably just felt like a nudge to the horse
just like how you would nudge a horse if you were riding it
Amaring horses, and, of course, amazing riders!
I find this amazing, and I have a lot of respect, but what is the point of the rope that binds the horses bridle/halter (??) to the stuff on its back? Is it to keep the horse steady?
Yana Elizaveta he keeps his/her head down because of the rope thing ( I am really sorry for my bad English!)
This is amazing
I know I've heard the music Lisa Wild used before but I can't remember the title? Anyone here who does?
for vaulting, do the gymnasts also ride horses? yes i understand they are on the horse to the the tricks, but do they usually do jumping or western as well? one day while they were doing gymnastics did they think of vaulting, or are they usually riders first?
THAT IS SO COOL !
first girl was amazing!
