Oh my goodness! I have been looking for the perfect "Ach, ich liebte" and I FINALLY found it! I adore Diana. She is so musical and really puts herself into the role she is in and is a remarkable actress!.
This is good, but even better is Lisette Oropesa, who has an even more beautiful voice, far smoother and easier coloratura, and perfect, beautiful trills (which is something Damrau has never been able to do well). Oropesa actually makes this sound easy.

Her voice is not clear and smooth! It has a screech (and wobble) to it. If you want to hear a clear, smooth voice there are dozens of recordings of this role and Die Konigen die Nacht by good coloraturi.
Lovely talent exciting actress, but the technique was *never* finished. Many many uncentered notes, a sloppy trill, and a huge percentage of notes that are attached just for a millisecond on the wrong pitch. The line gets broken all the time. So frustration.
Diana never allowed the voice to go wide/horizontally as she got above high A. It always annoyingly stayed vertical when it should change as one goes higher… and because it is easy for lighter sopranos like her to manage that, the voice never centers and it just gets more raw/ birdy annoying as time goes on despite its beauty and range. It’s a common issue with lighter coloratura sopranos as they don’t realize the resonance becomes shrill. It was evident here in many of the passages it’s just less noticeable by an untrained ear unfamiliar with the piece.

Not to mention the wobble and screech of her tone. This can be heard from her early recording and it got worse and worse.
Overrated singer in my opinion.
No real legato.
Poor actress overacting in any role.
When you sound like a boiling pot but still have the energy to do bad acting or is the bad acting a distraction
