    I had a home birth, my midwife asked to transfer me to hospital because of shoulder dystocia. But I refused to transfer. My midwife said its my decision because she cares about me. I got off my bed and onto the floor. I moved around on my knees and feet. My baby was able to get unstuck and I'm so happy I stayed home. I gave birth on a birth stood and I caught my baby girl. Beautiful home birth memories❤

      If I had transfered to hospital it would have been a c-section. My midwife saved me from that experience. I'm glad my midwife cares about women making choices for their own bodies. ❤

      I have questions and I hope they don't offend. But it seems like shoulder dystocia doesn't allow enough time to safety transport. It's a matter of life and death with the newborn to resolve it as quickly as possible, and most midwives have the skill to do so. Did she not know what to do? Was she ok with your baby dying as a result?
      Also, you got from a hands and knees positions, where your daughter's shoulder was freed, onto a birth stool in time to catch her? You moved way faster than I ever did during labor!
      I'm not trying to be contentious, but sincere.

      Did your midwife not know how to spin a baby? Anyone reading this please when hirkng a doula or mkdwife make sure they are trained in biomechanics so they can help

      @@1sweetlittleprincess doulas are not allowed to resolve such things as shoulder dystocia. This is a midwife's responsibility. Doulas may be trained in spinning babies that is performed during pregnancy but doulas are not allowed to rotate a baby in a case of shoulder dystocia.

    At my latest scan I was 30 weeks and my baby was still breech. My doctor hit me out of nowhere with the C word. I thought 30 weeks was a bit early to start talking about a Csection especially since this is my third birth and both my previous births were vaginal. Things like that being freely thrown around make me not want to even birth at a hospital 😢

    • @ashb2404
      @ashb2404 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That does seem early to start talking about a csection... My Dr. And Midwife both told me at 30 weeks that baby was likely to find his way head down, my midwife especially said not to even start worrying about it, they'd consider it more if I hit 36 weeks. Baby was transverse at the time, the Dr. Used the term breech though. I see your comment was a month ago, did baby turn for you ? I'd say you still have some time if not, based on what my providers have said.

    • @jenlotus17
      @jenlotus17 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You still have alot of time and there are many options to avoid a C section for breech. Webster Certifird chiropracter. Accupuncturist. Spinning babies and related exercise. There's also the ECV as a last resort.

    • @elyse443
      @elyse443 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s not early many times women go into labor earlier than they think they will and the doctor needs to hope for the best but be prepared for early deliveries. Your not their only patient. They see it all. Not hoping for one but talking about it in case it were to happen.

    • @jule3438
      @jule3438 3 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Why is a "necessary" c section with a breech baby even a thing?! I am a german midwife and I have helped quite some babys into this world vaginally who were breech! It works really just fine and it is actually wonderful to see the baby come out on its own. Those were some of the most beautiful births I've seen, because nobody did anything but let mama do it on her own. I think a natural vaginal breech birth is something wonderful and it is a shame, that most of the baby ate delivered by c section straight away.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am definitely trying everything you said in the video. And I wish I would’ve seen it 11 years ago when I was giving birth to my daughter because Dr. Morice in Morgan City, Louisiana did absolutely everything you said to not do when trying to give birth naturally, and I did have a C-section after 53 hours of labor.

    Yes What's natural is what's best. I remember doctors trying to scare me into getting an unnecessary C-section with my first pregnancy, but luckily I trusted my instincts and stood up for myself and told them no repeatedly. I knew the reasons they gave just didn't make any sense and could tell it was b.s.. According to Google physicians are routinely paid more for a C-section than they are for a vaginal delivery-on average, about 15 percent more.

      Many health insurance companies also require higher premiums for Dr's doing natural deliveries as c-cection is covered under general surgery.

    Wow just wow.
    I wish I could have seen your very informative video 11 years ago.
    I wasn't supposed to have a c section, since my baby boy was always in the crowning position. But since I was laying down on the bed for most of the time, and they also got me on my side because the babys breathing was going low after 15 hours of labor.
    They decided to do a c section.
    I truly believe they did it because of my PPO insurance. Since a c section is pricier than the normal birth.
    Thank you for being so honest and giving us amazing tips.
    It might come handy for me for next baby. 🌺💕🌺

    Thank you ever so much for this video, it's incredibly empowering! The part about the resting phase and following my own urge to push rather than being told when to really hit home for me. It's heartbreaking and infuriating how so many moms get manipulted to do things they probably wouldn't have agreed to simply because they don't have enough knowledge - this kind of information should be the foundation of antenatal classes!

    1 more day and then I’m in my 2nd trimester… as someone who was diagnosed with iron-deficiency a long time ago (it runs in my family) I was glad that at my first prenatal appointment I told the doctor. Her response was fabulous. Even though my experience showed that my iron loss was through heavy periods (thus not chronic anemia), there was no confirmation of that. So she happily said they’d continuously monitor my iron levels throughout the entire pregnancy! This makes me so happy but it’s sad because it seems like if you don’t tell them specifically, they just stop checking certain things.

    After hearing the horror story my mother went through birthing me, I will do everything physically possible to ensure a natural/home birth when I’m ready for kids.
    My mom was at the hospital in labor and her doctor pushed Pitocin. Without telling her he kept upping and upping her pitocin becuase she didn’t seem like she was in enough pain to be progressing fast enough(she was hypnobirthing to help with pain). Finally at one point one of the nurses asked him if he really meant to give her more pitocin because he gave her way more than any normal person is given. He was also in a rush to get out of there for the day so he forced her into an unwanted C section when she knew she could have had my vaginally. Due to the extremely high levels of pitocin, she was almost forced into a medically induced heart attack and they had to call the crash cart, then did a C section and got me out, then she had to spend several days in the ICU.

    My doctor told me I shouldn't be eating, because my body won't digest it, because it's extremely busy with the labour (smth like that), but did allow me to eat hours later, when I wanted a few banana bites and a piece of chocolate. It felt good eating them, but when I threw them up still undigested (in pieces) hours later, she reminded me that she was right. So... eating in active labour may be useless, but I'll do it again, because if made me feel better and probably gave me some minimum of energy.
    Anyway, I had an incredibly easy, almost pain-free and totally uneducated birth (except for oxytocin), so I don't want my above story to scare anyone. A little throwing up was no problem. It was probably because of the exhaustion. Natural birth can really be amazing.

    I love love love this video!!!😍 Thank you so so much you wonderful midwife! I am a midwife myself and from germany and I am shocked when I see how many women have to give birth in their back or are induced or get a c section, just because it's the "normal" way and the midwifes/doctors are to lazy to try the better way to help the baby naturally and through a vaginal birth. I think it's shocking and a shame how many women get an unnecessary c section!! And most of the women don't even know, that it was unnecessary...
    So I think your videos are great for the women to learn a lot! Thank you♥️
    What I want to ask is: can't breech babies be delivered vaginally where you live? I have assisted many mamas with breech babies in a vaginal birth and it is really not that complicated at all! Actually those births were amazing to watch, when mama did everything on her own and the baby comes down bottom first. Delivering breech babies through c section without trying first is a shame and not necessary!

    I was placed on a continuous fetal monitor and they would not allow me to get up, at all, at just 4 cm. I tried not to get an epidural, but was constantly asked by staff about it over and over when was I ready, was I ready now? Finally the on call doc came in and basically told me any iv meds wouldn’t work and the epidural was needed. Finally I was told that my contractions were so strong and frequent (my contractions started at 2-4 minutes apart from the beginning) that baby could decelerate and go into distress at any time and I would need an emergency c section under general if they couldn’t place the epidural in time. So I ended up getting an epidural and felt nothing, they had me pushing for almost an hour and then said I was almost at 10, almost. I got a healthy baby, but it was not a good experience for me. So glad that I discovered a midwife center semi close to me for this pregnancy.

    I had my first baby 4 years ago with C-section , and my second baby will be born in 1-2 weeks . Unfortunately my OB won’t allow natural birth if you had C-section before . They explained that there’s risk the old scarf will be ripped open . I don’t agree with it , but it seems to be too late for me to argue with them . I was asked about how I deliveried my first baby on the first doctor visit , then they wrote C-section on my record book , which I didn’t know it meant they were going to do C-section for my second baby . … wish I could have asked and discussed

Unfortunately after doing my research they’re so expensive and I’m in a very low income area also I’m high risk so I’m really scared of my biggest fear coming to light which is having a csection...
