Countless people dwell in modern cities, and they conflict and compete with each other in their daily lives.
When you pay attention to the movements of these people, you realize that they move in a regular and repetitive manner, like parts of a machine. Individuals form a group, and each group forms a large crowd, which appears as a single, organic mass when viewed from a distance.
The crowd may appear to be a single community, but each one looks, thinks, and speaks differently.
Each one may be trying to hide in the crowd to conceal their loneliness and isolation.
Although the crowd appears lively and colorful, it is ultimately made up of puny, feeble individuals with anxiety and loneliness who are inevitably swept away by time in a civilized society.
Behold the individuals within the colorful and vibrant crowd!
Each lonely individual is obscured by the vibrant crowd seen from a distance, and hereby you can capture the individual disintegrating into the crowd.
These works interpret the lives and lonely fates of modern people through the concepts of the crowd and the individual.
My recent work depicts crowds, but unlike my previous works, which were densely packed with uniform individuals, I have given them margins and empty spaces, which has allowed me to draw people in various sizes and with a sense of perspective.
In these works, they finally walk out of the crowd with vivid expressions and appearances.
They are walking in a pattern somewhere, breaking away from the crowd and now going into the world of dreams, sometimes in pairs of three or five, sometimes alone, finding their own path.
You can imagine what world they might be walking into.
