      WHY all of this kind of complilations never regards the chronological order of the compositions?
      The end result of the absolutely arbitrary mixing is so confusing...

    Love the works for winds - very lively and full of character. Takes me back to hearing Stravinsky's "Symphonies of Wind Instruments" for the first time.

    2:49:49 wht an elegie-can't wait to play through the piano part and try to hum the melody, thanks so much for this very amazing and extremely meaningful music in a time where possible previous pain was not sufficiently mourned.

Stasera ho ascoltato 'Pavane, Trio for oboe. Flute sonata allegro e Cantilena e oboe sanata scherzo.

      Its a combination of beautifully composed pieces by Francis Poulenc and a great artist team. All the artists are in the description of our video!

      Carl B. Schmidt's book The Music of Francis Poulenc lists 3 versions by the composer of these pieces, which were written in 1918 (rev. 1939 & 1962): 1. piano; 2. chamber orchestra (by Sept. 1925); 3. nine instruments (arr. 1946); version #3 is heard here. There are also arrangements by other hands for violin & piano, symphonic wind band, wind Instruments & percussion, and winds. Schmidt's catalogue (Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1995) is an indispensible resource for anyone who wants to explore Poulenc's music in depth.

    This composers music is (in my view) disharmonious! This is one of the products of the modern era-unmelodious cacophony!

    • @BayardAugust
      @BayardAugust 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      How utterly boring and stale classical music would be without this "disharmony" and "cacophony". No one demands that anyone listen to anything they don't like. Think I will go to a YT recording of "The Blue Danube Waltz" and whine about how much I hate it...

      I agree. Status is only granted to artists that are breaking some rule or tradition. You’re supposed to love the banging pots and pans and say something witty about it, but it really is just jarring. An extension of deconstruction as a way of life since the end of WWII. He’s not as bad as some, much of it is tolerable at least, but I see what you are onto, and I’m glad you said it Roger.
