- This will show you how to use your steam deck controller in games from the epic games launcher such as Fortnite, Rocket league, and possibly other non steam games. I did include a short bit of Fortnite gameplay on the steam deck with full controller support.

It's not working it's not popping up with the controller configuration and when I click on epic games it just goes back to the big screen steam?
I have been looking for weeks and yours is the first solution I've found that actually WORKS. I had been adding the game itself as a non-Steam game but it hadn't occurred to me to use the EGL and try it from there.

I just use windeck tools you just hold the three lines and you can swap between Xbox, ps4 and desktop mode

I played fortnight today with the mouse and keyboard, the performance wasn’t good on windows 11, what are your settings?
I know im late but performance settings with low textures and high render distance helps
Thank you a lot for the video! The Steam Deck is recognizing my controller now, but instead of letting me actually play with it, it sees it as a second player and only lets me add myself as such (trying to play Rocket League). Any idea how I could fix this?
This doesn’t work as big picture mode keeps on booting epic games off. When I load Fortnite out of steam, none of the controls work either

What quality setting are u playing on? I try playing fortnite on windows 11 and its so glitchy!! Its like it gets stuck, the game crashes, it runs so slow and finally it says that a problem has occurred and reboots my device. Any idea whats going on?
I have my windows settings on high performance and Fortnite on performance mode with custom low/medium settings. Shadows off helps a ton.if you got to Graphics on windows you can change the performance preference as well for whichever apps you want to manage.

Do you have any other tips for if it’s not working ? Like it’s no longer recognising the deck as a controller. It’s back to doing the Keyboard and mouse ting. I’ve tried doing it 3 or 4 more times again following your tutorial and it’s not working. Please help

Bro it's not working the controls I tried to setup controllers also from the steam settings after adding epic. Really frustrating, don't know if the windows 11 or new drivers don't allow the steam to input controller.
My windows 11 is up to date and this method is still working not sure what is causing your issue

Please help, I don’t see the notification for control when I open epic ??
Have to go trouble shoot still but I am assuming it’s ubisofts little launcher causing my left stick and d-pad to stop working only while trying to move my Assassins Creed Syndicate character. All the menus work as expected and all buttons in the right side of controller work as expected. I already hated all the launchers just on pc. lol.

Set your display scaling to 100% instead of 125% and the double Epic window is gone

For me, I only wanted this for Fortnite but the only thing that works are the joysticks, did I do something wrong?
Sounds like it defaulted to mouse n keyboard that’s why your sticks still worked. You need to make sure epic games is entirely closed even in background apps before you open it via Steam.
When you installed the new Audio drivers did you also update your APU driver as that received an update as of may 13th to fully support the Audio drivers. If you didn't update that may be the reason why your Graphics glitch out sometimes.

You can map them in the steam controller configuration settings
To fix the Epic game launcher looking like that you can right click and fiddle around with the compatibility scaling. I don't remember what I did but it looks fine now
Yeah if I set it to 100% it’s normal but if it’s 125% it does the pnp thing lol

I can't get my sound or Bluetooth to work once I downloaded windows 11. Installed all the drivers off od steam but I still can't get it to work. Can u tell me how you got your sound working?

@@Misaac thanks, if figured it out. I also figured how to run xbox game pass or games downloaded from Xbox gp to run through Steam as a non steam game, but still have to use GloSC overlay for controls.
Gyro works on windows 10 (even have to be touching the thumb stick) so im guessing it works on all

Ok. I got it. You should quit epic launcher (completely) before launching in big picture. Now it works.
Thanks this worked for death stranding on epic games ! It was reading both keyboard and mouse and controller at the same time, this fixed it and made it playable for me !!

You probably need the headphone Jack drivers from the windows steam deck resource page.

Does it allow you to use the gyro feature with epic or steam games in Windows 11?
Haven’t tried but it might be possible since the mapping of the controller is happening through steam.
@@Misaac does it recognize the controller as an Xbox controller or steam controller?
@@Killaidenn it shows the steam deck controller icon when the config is loaded so I assume it recognizes it as a steam controller.

It does have rumble and the trackpad has haptics in a way. Nothing with the triggers tho.
I dont know if the video is out of date, it doesn't load the configuration to epic games.
It should work still. Make sure epic games isn’t running in background before you launch it on Steam.

@@loganlewis5999 no problem and I’m sorry in advance if it still doesn’t work. Consider getting GLOSC if it doesn’t work. I don’t have a tutorial on that but it’s what I use for some other games (Mainly Game pass games)
@@Misaac GLOSC is my next attempt. I've tried steamdeck tools and simply adding the launcher. I feel like the problem is finding the controller configuration. Unless they removed it from steam, it isn't in my steam> settings> controller

Use handheld companion or Glosc if this isn’t working for you. I just tried this method and it’s still working I’m not sure why some people are having so much trouble.

To be more precise. When I open epic games launcher like that, I have no configuration message. Fortnite (in this case) still loads with mouse controls.
Additionally when I open epic games launcher I can see it opening, but then my steam deck switches back to steam (in big picture mode) meaning that o first have to minimize that

make sure epic is not open before steam. launch epic games from steam. Also make sure epic is not running in background before launching it on steam. Having epic open in any form before attempting to open through steam will not allow it to work.

Also it’s going to be in a different place for everyone depending on what drive and folder they put it in. So me showing where I put mine wasn’t going to do much for others.
