I had normal Cholesterol, a healthy diet, not overweight, didn’t drink or smoke, fit and all my yearly blood work was always perfect ... I have higher blood pressure thanks to hereditary factors and was on medication ... yet I ended up needing Open Heart Surgery 2 years ago ... when my side effects started the people from rehab and a nurse said it was most likely caused by certain medications ... yet I was told by my Cardiologist that the Statin was the only thing keeping me alive and they don’t cause side effects 😱 ... I had an appointment with my Surgeon because of issues with my wiring a few months ago and he questioned why I was still on Statins ... he then told me that every doctor knows that they have some dreadful side effects on some people ... he suggested I stop because my cholesterol wasn’t an issue 🛑 ... I was fearful of the consequences and kept taking them but my general care doctor did put me on a lower dose ... my cardiologist then got very annoyed and defensive because I questioned him again ... he then read the letter sent by the surgeon and didn’t he change his tune ... I have been Statin free for nearly 2 months and I feel so much better ... I am still fearful but telling a vulnerable heart patient that they are the only thing keeping them alive really messes with your head ... thank you so much for all the information you provide with your amazing channel.
RIP. I was saddened to hear that you passed away shortly after posting. Her doctor was quoted as saying, "I told her they were the only thing keeping her alive". Why didn't she follow my advice??? This is almost as sad as one of my friends, who died from COVID just days after he refused to the COVID vaccine. Doctors believe he would be alive to told if he just would have not been a scared little wimp who was scared of getting vaccine.
@@MusicByJC that’s such a nasty thing to say ... I have been to hell and back with this surgery ... my heart damage was caused by a genetic condition ... and to have someone making a joke about it is really low ... I pray you or someone you love never has to endure this type of thing or have anyone think that making a joke about them passing away is acceptable.

My story exactly- except that my triglycerides are even lower (35). No HBP, diabetes smoking, prior cardiac events, or family history of heart disease. Yet for the last 3 years my primary MD has been recommending statins.
I agree, these are extremely good lipid numbers, regardless of the list of unknowns. Statins can only mess with what is in reality a very low ACM risk panel. From those numbers I would suggest this is someone who exercises regularly and doesn’t load themselves with unnecessary carbs. Of cause there can be other reasons Independent of the lipid panel that can cause a CVA. The only possible benefit of a statin is if there is a high hsCRP, which given the numbers is unlikely.
I quit RX totally having lost confidence in doctors. No integrity. Just follow the samo samo. Here, try this and let me know how you feel. It's baloney.
What do you think about the latest TV commercials saying that we patients in "secondary prevention" need to get our LDL-C down below 55mg/dL? I cannot fiind any rock solid "science" that supports such a recommendation.
It has always struck me that such an LDL level (1.4 mmol/L) implies an incredibly low total (for example, from a moderately good HDL of 60 mg/dL (1.6 mmol/L), the total might be under 130 (3.4). I personally don't think that's a good idea. I'll have to research it. Probably the science will show that LDL target optimizes pharmaceutical company sales, but I'll try to keep an open mind.
I have been taking statins for years because my previous doctor had to. Had many side effects. In consultation with my new GP I was allowed to stop, which has been going on for many years now. Cholesterol has even dropped slightly without statins, but is still a bit high. Don't want this mess anymore.
These numbers are very close to my own. My HDL is even higher. I do take a statin though. 2.5 mg Crestor every other day, exclusively for the probable anti-inflammatory benefit. According to DR Ford Brewer a very low dose like this has a benefit with little to no side effects (I highly recommend anyone concerned about CVD check him out on TH-cam). I do have established CVD that was caused by a lifetime of very poor choices so I’m looking for all the help I can get.

If cardiologist ran the world they'd put statins in the water supply.
Yeah, that's on my list of Top 5 bad statin ideas.
Next time a doctor try to push a statin, ask him if you have statin deficiency in blood exams. 😅

Doctors are trained to follow protocols, not think critically. Very few actually think.
I feel it definitely has.

Dr. Brewer also suggests that low dose statins can stabilize soft plaque also. As far as I know he doesn't prescribe high doses, or Lipitor at all.
Absolutely gone too far.
what was his diet?
That's another thing I don't know. I should have listed that too.
Thanks Russ for the video.
Two meals a day, low carb!
