It should be noted that by the time of the Battle of Culloden, Scotland and England were already one country so it was more of a civil war rather than an invasion. Also, despite what the video claims, some in Scotland remain loyal to the Hanover Dynasty rather than support the Jacobites for their own reasons (eg. Some Catholic highland clans realize it might be best for their clan if they support the current ruling family or suffer the consequences for siding with the rebels or join one side to get back against another clan that joined the other side). Even the UK's Black Watch Regiment was formed by Scottish Highland clans who joined the side of the British government and help defeat the other clans that joined the Jacobites. I think South Korea has developed at a later but much faster rate from the 1960s onward. In that decade, it was poorer than even Ghana! The battle of Culloden was a battle of Protestants vs Catholics. James’ army included Jacobites, Irish men and French men while the Duke of Cumberland’s army included the Royal Scots regiment! Gee I wonder where they were from? Maybe Germany. It also included Jacobites like the Campbells and their allies. This myth needs to die! It’s not true and frankly grossly offensive to both Scots and English!
Plus a lot of Scots were complicit in the abuse of the Jacobites! I don’t condone what was done but Scotland needs to take ownership of the fact that we were just as much to blame
I bet they would not portray THAT execution(Mary)in s play on the stage!
Freeeeeeedoooooom!! 🏴🏴🏴
It wasn't the Ferocity of the Caledonians that saw off the Romans or the English, It was the Weather and worse, the Highland Midges that have seen off Invaders and Repeat Tourists for Millenia ;-) Imagine having Midges up your Toga or inside your Armour :-)
Now do one for Hungary
We've been mistreated by England for sure but its nothing compared to what the Irish had to put with
Thanks for this (I happen to be half-Scottish)! 🌾 #WeirdHistory #Scotland #ScottishHistory
the only problem with Scotland is that it's full of Scott's! Haha genius line
2:39 This is why its important if ur'e a dying king with no heir GET A WOMEN PREGNANT ASAP! Of course this woulldn't work if u're 20 off to war and die in battle but still. Personally if I were King at 14 my first task would be to get an heir ASAP.
They can take our lives.... but they'll never take... our Weird History!
Why you'd skip from the Romans to Edward the 1st? Edward's claims on Scotland didn't just sprout from No Where. It was based on the Overlord claim that the English Claimed they still had a right to but had been undone before Edward's rule by King John(he just went back on their word). Plus some may claim that John didn't have the right to do it but that was never our problem, John was king, got paid for the overlordship thing to be undone and the English went back on their word.
It was Scotland who wanted to join an alliance with england, not the other way round.
Explain the riots in the streets then? The people never wanted it and there was no vote. All to do with bribes, money and land fiven to the usual upper class pricks. So, don't talk shite!
My great....great grandfather was sent from Scotland to an English colony as a slave.
If england upped the petty over KILTS now that is sus by historical standards😮
I can see why my family Left Scotland in the 1600s
independence will come
