    great product that has saved me a lot of time and money. Seems I have a much older version from the display.
    However do have an issue in mobile Van usage. I am set to H1 (9.6v cutoff). I run it off my starter battery that is a big 115AH Led acid deep cycle. In the middle of the day when it's really hot outside I will get F1 errors with my battery at 11.7v. I see it constantly turning off and trying to turn on and giving me the F1 after the compressor tries to run. Could it be a heat dissipation or ventilation issue?
    Maybe I need to run it off 120v from 200 watt pure sine inverter for a more stable energy source?

      Expensive? Compressor cooling for 175? That's as cheap as it gets m8.

    Had mine for over 2 years. At the coldest setting and connected at 12v it draws about 2.3amps... I want to upgrade to the T36 or T150 , but I wonder how many amps (real world) it will draw at 12v?

    how does the battery aspect work? how long does it last after it is fully charged, and not plugged in at all

    C20 is worth it (though currently sold out on Amazon) since it will hold a gallon of milk standing up.

    informative, so pulling about 3 amps - and plugged into a cigarette lighter socket in the van - will a 5 amp fuse be sufficient to cover any power surges

    • @summetj
      @summetj  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't measure the surge draw on a 12 volt power supply. Using the 120 volt supply it never went over 150 watts, but the meter I was using would miss a larger surge draw that was short lived. I can imagine that the motor startup surge may be 4-5 times more than the peek average draw. I'd predict that a 15-20 amp fuse may be needed. Many 12v power output jacks are fused with a 20 amp fuse. You can always start out small and keep a larger fuse on-hand for if it doesn't work. Keep in mind your wire sizes as well..... (150 watts at 12v is 12.5 amps, so I would suspect a 15 amp fuse may be needed.)

    Just stick some bathroom silicone on the frame cracks and edges. You will have no noise anymore

    Nice review! Will this fridge store a 1L drink carton upright? Carton height 210mm (8.26772 inches)

      @karinhart489 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cogwun, if you look at this item on Amazon among the pictures there is a drawing with dimensions of both inside & outside. I don’t know about 1L sized containers, but milk cartons both Quart & Half Gallon fit in the C20 due to higher lid.

    Hey, how long does your ego inverter power this at a time? Can the ego inverter be charged off the car battery when it's running?

    • @summetj
      @summetj  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      At a 50 watt average draw, the Ego nexus escape with a brand new 7.5 aH battery (420 watt hours) could probably power it for 6-7 hours at a time.
      Ego does not provide a 12v battery charger, so I would not plan on using the Ego battery system in a mobile setup unless/until they offer a solar charging option for the Nexus power station.

    Would you have any idea if you can override the F1 shut off? I am running my cooler off of a secondary battery and don’t mind if the battery runs below 12 Volts

    • @summetj
      @summetj  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can choose a lower level at which it shuts off, but it will always eventually shut off to protect the battery.

    If I were to have this plugged into an inverter that is connected to a 120ah DC house battery and outputting 120V AC, would these readings be the same?

    • @summetj
      @summetj  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although it comes with a switching power supply that will generate 12v from either 120v or 240 volts, if you have access to a 12 v house battery, you should plug the fridge directly into that for the best efficiency (avoid the inverter and switching power supply entirely). (To answer your question, the switching power supply will work at whatever voltage your inverter outputs.)

    • @summetj

      Assuming you bought a model that comes with the 120v AC adapter, yes, you can use it as a fixed fridge connected to a regular AC outlet.

    You paid $ 145 , here in Australia the same unit which is known as brass monkey is $199 with a three year warranty

    • @summetj
      @summetj  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      At current exchange rates 199 AUD=145 USD. The $150 price I paid was a promotional deal (possibly because of the broken plastic case?) and I typically see them sell for $199 here in the US on Amazon. They only come with a 1 year warranty in the US.
