- Hello and welcome to this video showing my entry for the @poorboysrc Speed Run Challenge 2024. This year Fil has chosen the popular Tamiya MF-01X chassis for this year's challenge. There are 3 classes open for all to enter and some great prizes up for grabs for the winners of each class. Please check out Fil's most excellent channel for more info. Thanks brother - haha yes nobody was injured in this shakedown run thank goodness! Where has the BMW gone I wonder, maybe he dislikes the furry cheerleaders! We are pulling in a few views, I'm sure this years contest will be the best by far. Great choice of platform by the way! Cheers mate! 😁👌🙏👍
Welcome to the fun and congrats, your second attempt was really good.
I use the same kind of tires and put very hight expectations into. MS Fun Racer got very good experience with them on a brushless TT.

Not bad at all for doubling the speed just for the shake down run! Smart move putting the Mazda body on it for the runs and not ricking the Escort body out there! Best of luck to you Mark!
Hi Addam and thanks as always! Yeah I can't grumble at a speed doubling but I think I threw most of my speed tricks at it too early! LOL at least I didn't crash! That's what that Mazda shell was meant for, keeping the Escort out of harms way! Thanks dude, I'm just in it for the fun but hope to beat that pesky Craig!!! 😅👍

So glad you switched the shells Mark, you wouldn't want to compromise that Escort beauty. The Mazda ( if that's what it is ) is an excellent, cool looking replacement. Good luck mate, 30mph is a great start point.
Hiya mate, you know me, I'm mad but not that mad! No way was that Escort body being entered into a speed contest! 😅 Yes, the green shell is a Mazda Mx5 (or Eunos Roadster if you are in Japan). That's the beauty of this hobby, nothing gets thrown away and comes in handy eventually! Cheers dude! 🍻😎👍

Thanks Pete, well I had to have a go at an intro after seeing yours! No mate, this must be the slowest RC car that I've tried to make fast! That Escort body is a keeper for sure, the Mazda has more scuffs than I care to remember, a few more won't hurt! Good luck to you too mate! 🤞😎👍
I think the brushed is the best class, good keeping the Escort body nice and using an old one. For stock they are a slow chassis, double speed for the test 🙂
Hi Mal, yes I like the brushed class as for me it keeps the cost down and less speed than brushless suits me fine! Thanks pal! 😎🏁👍
@@MarkBryanRC I'm with you keeping cost down. That's why I did not buy a kit to do this as it's all the bits on top that kills. I just had to buy a few parts for the Maxx and with a body costing £60 once pained.

No way can I win this, the motors I have available are just too slow but it will be fun taking part and I'm happy about that. Some brushed cars have gone over 80kph in testing so far!!! 60kph is a good target for me! Cheers mate! 🍻😎👍

30mph straight away is pretty good, nice one! I bet if you fit a bigger pinion and do the gear mesh as one of the other MF01X videos mentioned you'll go way faster😜

I got that message thanks! Looking forward to more friendly rivalry this year with you - however if we both run the same motors we had in the TT02's I reckon you got this again! I just can't find any faster brushed motors that are affordable here in the UK!

Nice run. Now TL01 speed gear set + 25t pinion (+ ludicrous mesh if courageous) and you will start to sweat 😂 I'm "already" at 50 😊 Cheers 👍🤝

Which speedometer did you get? I was looking online the other day and the best looking one I could find was about £28 off ebay for the cheapest one that's small enough to fit + didn't need wiring-up like for a proper car etc.
Nice work Mark, looks like brushed class is going to be quite competitive this year! Will be interesting to see how things pan out as the competition goes on. Seems we are both level pegging on 30mph at the moment, let the games begin 😂

@@MarkBryanRC I'm hoping to get out again later in the week once my new wheels are here. Can I ask, do you have any foam tyres you can recommend that will fit the touring car wheels..? I've never used foam tyres before but interesting if they work.
I hope you get that chance to run this week. The foam tyres come pre-glued to the wheels, have a look at "Contact" foam tyres. These are the ones I am using:

Fair play for saving that delightful Escort body..... and the little Mazda actually looks kinda cool.... sporting a Green Hawks paint job to! 😂
Superb shake down speed of 30 mph in your usual car park (minus the black beema boy in the corner!)
I also wanted to run in the brushed category to for this one, unfortunately the Fat controller has other ideas involving rockets..... what have I let myself in for? 🤷♂️

Yep, there's definitely an element of charm to the brushed motors.... it's great fun trying to inch that little bit faster with them.
After all, it's what us guys grew up with..... and the speeds are a lot more controllable, and less damaging to the cars!
Yep, we have just bought RC Doms MF01X..... now time to buy, or make some rocket jets! 🙄😬

Anyway, that's one Hell of a shakedown run, your MF-01X runs great! And it looks cool with that green Mazda on it. I got started building mine yesterday, I had decided to run it backwards, so now I am in big trouble trying to design the front end, so it is quite likely I have to take it all apart again and do as Tamiya says I have to, he he, we see how it goes...
Is Rob joining this year also?

What did you do about the right rear suspension hitting the gear case?
I added an extension to the top ball joint on the upright and shaved a little plastic of the ball connectors. You can see how I did it in my build guide.😎👍
30mph at 1/10th scale would be 300mph which wouldn't be too bad for a real Mazda MX5 Eunos.
Oh yes, I never thought of that - 300mph scale speed makes it seem so much faster! 😎👍
