Amazing work! I had no idea how much to expect - thanks for the great content!
I really didn't think you had to sell that many units to break even...
As always I love your style! Such a high quality video.

3.6k units sold should be manageable. I'm sure you will sell even more copies

Super interesting breakdown. I'm surprised video editing wasn't more time.

      Thank you! :)
The video editing time refers to all videos before the release of the game. If I counted the more recent videos, it would probably be triple digit hours as well

This is an excellent video. Really like how you break down each cost. Also it is an awesome game. Keep it up! :)

What a cliffhanger! So around 3,500 units including dev time or 500 units if you were working for free to break even. That actually doesn't sound too crazy! I'm hoping there's a followup video where you discuss your Steam sales! Would be really interesting to see those figures including when your game goes on sale. Thanks for the great info. One more question - what about the stock footage and video graphics? Is that another cost? How do you do those animated numbers and charts, for example? Unless that's built into Da Vinci. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the kind words :) I'm glad the information was helpful!
I'm actually thinking about creating a video about Sales in the future - but I'm not 100% sure yet.
All the stock footage I use is free, commercially usable and no attribution is needed. For stock images, I can recommend Unsplash, for example.
How I created the animated numbers is pretty messy and probably totally inconvenient. Take a spreadsheet tool like Excel and change certain ranges of values over a defined period of time (e.g. with using Excel Dev Tools). Now you capture your screen and get a simple 2D recording. In Resolve, I render the footage as a 2D plane in 3D space using the Fusion tab and simply move the camera accordingly. A bit of post processing and Fusion FX and that's it. This was by far the most complex video so far. :D

@@anbagames holy moley thanks for the detailed answer! Honestly you could create an entire tutorial video on how you animated those numbers! That's a really cool technique and the result looks super professional

@@samhblackmore Thanks, I'm glad to hear that :) But there must be better ways to achieve these results

I’m also in a similar boat as you. Game development is a side job but even though I’ve not released my game, the cost to develop is quite high. Not even sure if I’ll recover the money because my game is a car racing game.

    • @anbagames
      @anbagames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I can understand that. It definitely helps to have generated some reach before the release. Good luck with your game!

Hello. I liked your video, it was informative and detailed. I have a question about the taxes you paid, how can I find out what tax I will pay if I publish a game, I am from Moldova and I would like to know what the tax will be.

    • @anbagames

Sorry, I'm not a tax expert and can't really help you there. Maybe ask a tax advisor or contact the Ministry of Finance directly.
