    I love this generation Corvette ❤ I own a 67 Coupe. And they’re a blast to drive.

I’ve never understood the C2 moniker since the 63 through 67 models were not the 2nd generation that C2 implies. The first generation Corvette had a 6 cylinder with 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The next generation Corvette had V8 power, 4 speed manual or 2 speed Powerglide and significantly different styling. The so called C2 in my mind was actually the third generation Corvette.

They made the split at '62/'63 because the entire car was redesigned at that time, only the engines and transmissions carried over. From '53 to '62, they used the same basic chassis, solid rear axle and similar styling. That's why they lumped those all together into one "generation". I'm not necessarily saying I agree with it, just explaining the logic behind it. What's odd is that in '68, the only thing that changed was the body styling, so keeping with the logic of the first gen, those should have still been considered 2nd gen. If the '68s were different enough to be a new generation, then the "C1s" should be split into at least 3 different generations, every time the body was restyled. So yeah, it doesn't always make sense how they determine different generations, but it's basically set in stone at this point and we're not going to change it.

In the 80's the C2s were known as Mid Years. 😀

Fact 11 in their days they were never known as C2, they were Sting Rays or Mid Year Corvettes 😡

Yeah, the whole "C" generation thing started in the 80s or 90s when people started restoring, showing and judging them. I don't know why people get so mad about it... you can still call them whatever you want. Calling Corvette generations C1, C2 etc... makes more sense than calling "rounded line series" chevy trucks "square bodies"...
