  • Hello Everyone!! Today’s video is a 2 year update on the DIY Easy Drain Duck Pool Video! Here is the link to the original video if you are interested in making one for yourself. • DIY Easy Drain Duck Pool This pool design was perfect for us over the past 2 years and maintenance was much more in hotter months requiring some scrubbing at cleaning times to remove algae. I would highly recommend this setup if you’re looking for a water solution for your ducks on a budget and I have prepped another pool and will be swapping it out in this video. Thanks for stopping by and if you have any questions, comments, or thoughts, please leave them below in the comment section and don’t forget to subscribe and share please. John 3:16-21:
    16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

    I watch a channel called Robbie and Gary Gardening Easy. It's about gardening but they use those pools. Mr Gary has a video where he makes cement molds and he puts them around the edges of the pools to be able to lean on them without them breaking.
    Maybe something like that would get you an extra few years use from your pool.
    Thanks for the update!!

    Thanks for the update. I'm going to try to put an outdoor faucet on the side of our duck "pond" so I can attach a hose to water our veggies. Y'all from or near BG? I noticed the WKU shirt in an earlier episode.

      That sounds like a great idea. Hope that works out for you. BG is about 1.5 hours from home so yes not too far away. Thanks for stopping by!

    Have you considered putting a ball drain on the outside of the pond or end of your pvc so you don’t have to use the skewer or reach into the dirty water? Just a thought. Hope you guys are having a great day!

    Have you tried black soldier fly grubs??? We raise those from food waste and our ducks LOVE them.

      This is the bin I modeled mine off of. I have been running it for 2 years and am finally needing to remove compost this winter when they slow down some. I live in Florida so we don't get much cool weather and this thing consumes about 3 gallons of scraps a week.

    was planning on doing the same for my ducks, do you think if i got a pool with the slide built in they would use the slide? lol

    • @HomesteadersOnTheHill
      @HomesteadersOnTheHill  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That would be awesome if they did and I’d want to see that video. Not sure if they would. We have a plastic playground set for our chickens and they perch on it but don’t actually use the slide. You will have to let me know if it works!

    How often do you have to clean the pool out? I’m having to do mine just about everyday

    • @HomesteadersOnTheHill

      In the summer months we clean out every other day but in winter we do once a week. The algae game is strong in summer and requires cleaning otherwise it looks like a swamp. Thanks for stopping by!
