In 2019, Pedri was playing his football for Las Palmas in the second division of Spanish football and he was an unknown player to many when he moved to Barcelona for just what 2 million in 2020 and as they say the rest is history. 3 years later in 2023, Pedri at just 20 is one of the best midfielders in the world as he's a regular starter for both Barcelona and Spain and is a vital player. What makes him standout is his excellent technique on the ball, he has amazing composure, he has nice passing range long and short creates a lot of chances, keeps the ball close to his feet with is dribbling abilities and great decision making. At his age, he just passes the eye test with flying colors and his style of play is similar to Andres Iniesta and they have the exact same style/profile. Last season, he added goals to his game as yes he doesn't score a lot but whenever he scored for Barcelona, they were match winning goals and at the end of the season those goals were important as the team ended up winning La Liga and his excellent performances for most of the season were an important factor in why the team enjoyed success domestically last season. The team has been in a bit of a transitional phase in the last couple of years, they've been in the post Lionel Messi era for a while, there have been limitations financially when it comes to making transfers, they lost some key players and have even been playing Europa League football for the last 2 seasons, even though with their La Liga title, Barcelona seems to be getting on the right track as a club from a footballing perspective but seriously have to improve even further in the champions league if they want to get back to being the team they were a decade ago and one of the bright sparks in the difficult couple of years Barcelona have experienced on and off the field has been the emergence of Pedri and he's set to have a bright future for club and country. He plays the game of football beyond his tender years as he has amazing footballing abilities and a great IQ for the game and he's so mature as a football player. Barcelona have been a weaker team without him over the last couple of years as when he's healthy they have a better win percentage rate with Pedri on the field, but when he's out they lack creativity and struggle massively and his impact on this Barcelona team is felt when he's there/absent. To see the drop off in quality when he doesn't play it tells you his impact on this team and he's still very young. Pedri is very critical in Barcelona's chances of retaining La Liga from last season and how far they get in the champions league this season.
its a shame that the stats and his injury history cannot back up how good of a player he really is. his presence on the field is very strong, hes really intelligent and creative, he has a mature reading and understanding of the game. i hope that when he gets back from his injury he’ll be more healthy and stronger than ever before. still would like to see more from him, hes truly a generational player.
I have seen certain some fan base having unnecessary hate for him.. I cannot accept your football knowledge if you have ever saw Pedri play football and not liked him.. He is just geniously Amazing.
A lot of people hate Pedri because he has missed so many games in the last 3 season he has literally missed 50% of all Barca games in the last 3 seasons combined.
Despite the brilliant qualities Pedri possesses as a player and how far he's gotten in football at such a young age, the only concern for him has been his fitness. In the last 3 seasons, Pedri has missed at least half of the available games for Barcelona and that's a bit of a worry given his importance for not just only his club but also his country as well. That's the only thing that could prevent him from reaching his full potential, he won't become like Ousmane Dembele or stall like Ansu Fati as both of them have seen their careers plagued by injuries and he has time to sort that out in his career because he getting injured a lot is a massive loss for Barcelona and he's needed big time in their team. You can argue that the 70+ games he played in his breakout season in the 20/21 season is still having a big impact on Pedri. That season at just 18 years of age, he played a lot of games for Barcelona in La Liga, champions league, Copa Del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, and then for Spain at the EUROs he played a lot of minutes in the tournament maybe every minute of every game during their run to the semifinals where they had to play 3 extra time matches and then weeks after the EUROs he played for Spain in the Olympics. The following season he played a couple of games then took a break and once he came back he got injured and when he came back on the pitch he played really well but the injuries continued plaguing him. Even the next season, he stayed fit for the most parts of it as once again he was performing, and in the middle of the season played for Spain at the World Cup and then during their Europa League game against Manchester United at the time he was in top form, he left the game injured and missed a couple of months once he came back he was ruled out of action for the rest of the season towards the end. At the start of the season, he played 2 La Liga matches scored a decisive goal against Cadiz and in training he got injured and as we speak he's ruled out for a couple of weeks. He's been ran into the ground given the amount of football he's been playing not just that season but throughout his career for club and country and the workload of players seriously needs to be managed due to the congested schedules the players have been facing and it's resulting in a lot of injuries. Pedri is a fantastic player and has shown his excellence, brilliance and potential at this age and he's set to get even better and better, but if he is to improve and further his career, he has to overcome the injury woes he's been facing and he has to have his workload managed in order to limit these injuries and FIFA/UEFA/FA have to limit the amount of games these players are playing because footballers aren't robots.
He's put on too much muscle as well these last two off seasons which is contributing to his muscle injuries. Needs a new workout regimen and not lift weights so much.
@@RoyalViking465I doubt that’s the reason why. The issue is he’s human. And the sheer amount of games they play is inhumane. As time has gone on, you no longer need a starting 11 and a backup. You need at least two full starting 11 players to rotate in order to last the whole season. International duties don’t make it any easier. He plays every game with no rest and that will have a tole on his body at a much younger age.
@@Crispy_DAWG He got worn down a few seasons back playing all the games for Barça only 18 at the time... and then played at the Euros plus went to the Olympics as well that summer.. alot of us said he was gonna start getting injured and the following season the injuries started. Adding muscle also contributes if the diet isn't proper. Too much muscle isn't necessarily a good thing with players that run so much.
@@RoyalViking465From what I’ve read around muscle gain doesn’t necessarily equate to worse performance or higher injury potential, but then again I’m not an expert. But Pedri, and other youngsters like him are going to be worn out by their late 20’s if the ridiculous amount of games they need to play continues.
He plays like he is a 30 year old. He knows exactly when to slow the game down and keep possession but also knows when to speed it up and attack the goal.
Pedri is just 21 and hes already playing like a veteran. He just knows when to pass, when to dribble, when to slow down and when to speed up the game. The level of maturity he shows on the ball is far greater than any of the current generation players imo. If pedri just remains fit for the entire season, hes clearly more deserving of the ballandor than any of the current generation players. But then today everything has become about stats unfortunately.

As a Barca fan Xavi seems to overplay the youngsters, perhaps our squad isn’t full of depth or Xavi is stubborn but Pedri, Gavi, Yamal, or Balde shouldn’t start every single game. Some rotation will be required if we want to win UCL.
Of course. But i also think playing the youngsters are good and giving them regular game time. Before Xavi Barca would never ever give opportunities too youngsters never.
