- Video of the weekly siren test in Moore, OK. This particular unit is located near the corner of SE 34th and Fairway. It is a Federal Signal 2T22. It was extremely windy, so that is the reason for the shaking. You can see the siren rocking in the breeze as well. ENJOY IN HD!
I have two things to say:
1.May the victims of the F5 tornado be blessed
2. Awesome siren!

@@paulspomer16 : I know that there's a difference between the F scale and the EF scale, but I also will refer to a recent tornado in terms of its F scale, though I know that, technically, the EF scale is in use, and seems to be much more detailed in its accuracy. If I were authoring or reviewing an academic/scientific paper, I would certainly be more careful, regarding the terminology.
It's not ignorance or intellectual laziness on my part, just muscular laziness, I suppose. ;-)
Sounds like it's in good condition
Man, look at that thing sway! Great recording!

The most beautiful sounding 2t22 ever
Moore has some of the best sirens ever, the Mods, 2t22's and Thunderbolts harmonize PERFECTLY, and on the other hand, OKC just has a steady pitch and that is it. ALSO this siren is also sounding very healthy!
I know! Even though I’ve grown up a few blocks from a Whelen 2810 I still like the older sounding ones in Bethany and Warr Acres ... plus the Whelen 28s and 29s look like mascara brushes to me 😂
Hailey Walters next joke for Tornado Siren Madness.😄
I am reading this in early May, 2019, and am wondering how up-to-date some of these comments are. Namely are there still mechanical sirens dotted across the metropolitan area?
Also, it sounds like Moore has replaced any sirens that need replacing with the electronic variety, though it appears as though any operable mechanical sirens remain until . . . they're destroyed? declared not repairable (or "not repairable")?
Our city--Wichita Falls--replaced all of our mechanical sirens en masse, years ago, which I thought was kinda silly--and expensive--and they are a little harder to hear, due to their omni-directional orientation (and slightly-wider spacing), compared to the Thunderbolt that was nearest us. The rotation of the mechanical siren made just enough difference in volume to (usually) catch our attention.
What is cool is that, because the electronic sirens are Federal Signal, they have an old Thunderbolt signal as a tone choice, which the city used a few times, and which I prefer. They finally settled on the default sound of these newer sirens, though. "Progress", I think they called it.
@@flatulenceone As of November 2019, Moore changed all modulator siren sounds to ThunderMod Level 5 and 6 sounds.
@@NormanWeather: Thanks for the info. I wouldn't have known it, if you hadn't told me. I listened to the recording of one of those sirens on reddit :
And I compared it to this:
( th-cam.com/video/he0VckGishc/w-d-xo.html )
And the difference between the electronic version and the mechanical version is stark! The chopper adds what I suppose is called timbre (correct me, if I am wrong), which is a quality that the electronic version does not have.
It's been quite a while since I visited the Federal Signal site and listened to their available choices, but if none of their offerings include the "wind up" and "wind down" and the timbre of the originals, then I must give credit to someone in the city who was wise enough to record one of the Thunderbolts in the city and proffer it to those who make the decisions regarding such.
Man, I should've gotten this one, it sounds so cool! Great recording!
This 2T22 sounds very well, though you can tell from the wind that it is rocking. But it sounds better than the 2T22 in MY area, the one that sounds underpowered.
Michael Peterson Jr. What type of motor does it have, or has it been maintained?
@@christophercarey3232 Sorry for the late reply. I'm not sure, but it might have the GE motor (which was from the late 1950's to the mid 1960's), and it was well maintained until the dampers went bad on it. So now the XT22 sounds like an STH-10 whenever it goes off for a fire call.
At 0:05-3:45 Is Fredonia Fire Department Federal Signal 2T22 Siren Tornado Hits Fredonia, New York
A whole six months before the tornado. WOW!!
Full Alert tone 2T22A Dual Toned.
This is the one that got stuck on yesterday. It went off for maybe 15-20 minutes until a neighbor shut the disconnect off.
Oh yeah I saw that video, was it replaced?
@@deleteddeleted172 No, it has been fixed and runs on the system now.
Something about the way this one sounds with the wind makes it sound so creepy and like there is an actual warning.
i did not know a B flat major chord would be that annoying
Actually, this is a minor 3rd in D major
2/3T22's awlays will kick ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very heathy 2T22, I can hear the Modulator in the back.
do I hear a modulator in the background?
Probably Moore does have modulators
Moore has
5 2T22's
4 Modulator 5020T's
1 Modulator 5020
1 Modulator 8032BT
5 Thunderbolts
1 508
1 2001
Okc:
2810's
2906's
Whelen Vortexes
@@modulator-sx8cw Moore has 4 2T22s, 25 Modulator 5020s, 2 Modulator 5020Bs, 1 Modulator 8032B, 4 508s, 5 Thunderbolt 1000Ts and 1 2001-DC. Oklahoma City has a ton of Vortexes and 2810s, 1 2808, 2-3 2806s and 1 2906. Not sure where you’re getting your information but it’s not exactly correct lol
Great sounding 2t22! Sounds like its still in its prime hopefully that's the case as of now
Hopefully it did its job today! God bless the people of Moore, OK
They should get a t-121 after this beast goes!....
Oh it did, I watched a few videos where it was sounding loud and clear :)
nice! as always love that sound
Love this sound! Music to my ears ❤️
Unfourtunatly the 2T22's in Moore are gone now. A lot of them were destroyed by the 2013 EF5 while the others were all just old. Pretty sure Moore has FS 2001 sirens now. Either way this is a really nice sounding siren.
That’s… not true at all. Only 1 2T22 and 1 Modulator were destroyed in the tornado. Which were quickly replaced. They still have the same system. They have 1 older 2001 which has been there since the 1990s, 4 508s, 4 2T22s, 5 Thunderbolts, and 28 Modulators
Nice! It's a 2T22A!
What if the pole just fell over?😂😂😂
I've seen much worse
Probably happened in the massive tornado they had... I remember seeing pictures of the destroyed sirens including modulators and 2t22s in the debris all over the place.
Nah, if I'm right, this siren wasn't in the tornado's direct path
Alertec2202 this one survived the tornado, but the other 2t22 the gray one wasn't so lucky it got replaced by a 508 after it got blown away by an ef5
Well CRASH CLANK BANG METAL RUBBING AGAINST THE STATOR SPARKS BURNT MOTOR AAAHGGH uh yeah.
This is the best sounding 2T22 I've heard yet.
Is it just me or do i also hear a modulator doing hi low in the background?
No it sounds like that because it's a dual tone Mod.
@@deleteddeleted172 THE MODULATOR ALSO CALLED "MODULATOR 5020T"
We have one in St. Paul, Va and it's a beautiful sound but when we're near it and it goes off, it's startling at first and then we realize "It's just the ol' alarm."
That's the horn the Colorado Avalanche used as the Quebec Nordiques
I hear Modulator 5020T in background
This particular unit was well south of any damage path. I am sure some were destroyed though. I would image a complete system replacement will be happening in the near future.
Grew up with one just like it right across the street. That sound will always give me chills.
I live in Noble, Oklahoma.
AtrociousGem47 i live in Harmon ok its a tiny town in North west Oklahoma
Conner Tate; I figured Harmon was a ghost town by now. (Found out about the town through Gary England's warnings)
Do you know how the sirens faired in the tornado? I hope this did its job to its fullest potential...
Quebec Nordiques Goal Horn
Did this get replaced or is it still up with a clogged intake?
Thats one of the white 2t22s that has the clogged intake but no it’s not replaced
Moore is probably not removing the old civil defense sirens because they all have modern control panels.
No dip it went off. That's why it's there.
we have this in iberville parish(county) louisiana
heed the warning..
WOW that's a long siren
3T22: hi-lo
2T22: alert
That is dreadful.
I know a thing or two about civil defense sirens myself and in my opinion, this one seems to remind me of a Thunderbolt 1000t.
@mannbradmusic The XT22 series siren is a civil defense siren. Both this and the Thunderbolt series were made by the same company: Federal Sign and Signal, now known as Federal Signal Corporation.
Another thing is that the XT22 uses a 10/12 port ratio while the Thunderbolt 1000T has a 5/6 port ratio, which is halved but is relatively the same
is that a 2t22b?
No it's a 3 phase 2T22A
i think i hear modulator
You do indeed hear a Dual Toned Mod
You can hear Modulator 5020T on background.
is this siren still here?
It might be, unless it was destroyed in a tornado or something like that.
@@Sipex6484 it’s there till this day still kickin ass
@@yourlocalretard582 nice to hear!
Quebec Nordiques, anyone?
Me
Jamie Land yep
Jamie Land The Nordiques never used this horn. Its a common confusion.
Yes
