So thats what locals in FNQ call a mudcod. it is a snake head gudgeon "Giuris margaritacea". (not to be confused with the invasive species in florida) Basically the best metery barra bait in existence for brackish/freshwater fishing. You go talk to old fellas up here about barra and pretty much all of em are floating mudcod on 80-100lb handlines up tight in snags along a colour change line where a drain/smaller creek feeds into a larger arm.

Cobber lose the thongs and get a pair of nylon/canvas/whatever strap sandals. After years of blowouts in thongs and reef boots making my feet a soggy mess or getting pulled off in the mud… a pair of $8 strap sandals from Kmart has changed my fishing life at the boat ramp or on land based missions.

12:40 is a spangled gudgeon. Looks like a sleepy cod, but with purple/blueish spots. They're a brackish water fish mostly.
