Here's challenge for you . Download TH-cam video on your iPhone and transfer it Palm Tungsten by using USB to lightning cable connector device. Tips 1. Ensure video size is 10 MB to 20 MB. 2. Ensure video resolution is set to 320 ×320 or lower for smooth playback. 3. Use a SD card to expand storage capacity.
This is so awesome! Thank you for sharing. This means that this workaround of exporting contacts and appointments onto the Palm in external storage mode will work on an iPad too, and also on macOS. Perhaps someone could write a Shortcut to export appointments and contacts. The iPad Pro can even charge some Palm devices. And particularly the Palm Tungsten E2 can be connected directly to the iPad Pro without a dongle by getting a USB-C to Micro-USB cable. This is really useful! Come to think of it, this workaround will even work on older Palm devices with PalmOS 4 as long as the have an SD card slot, by using an SD to Lightning adapter like Apple's own one, or one of the many USB-C expansions for the iPad Pro. Simply do everything the way you just demonstrated it, but save it to the SD card instead of directly to the Palm. And then you can insert the SD card back into the older Palm device and use the Filez app (because Resco Explorer does not run on PalmOS 4). Thanks again for this, it opens up a world of possibilities! Oh yeah... the Turquoise Blue cocktail is from the Tom Cruise movie Cocktail.
Great video! I really didn’t know that could be made using a Palm pda syncing it OTG with an iPhone. I always wanted a pocket pc but they were too expensive at the time. Watching this video makes me want to buy either a Palm TX or an iPAQ 111. Thanks again for making this video!!!
The Palm Tungsten E uses a Mini USB cable for connecting it to the computer instead of a proprietary connector like most of Palm's PDAs. This gives me an idea for a video. If you haven't, already, how about you go order a Mini USB OTG adapter and try using it with your Palm PDA to try and get various USB devices such as USB keyboards, flash drives, etc. to work on it?
Wikipedia has pgs on all pdas. Some vtg pdas are still deep archived at vendor sites, like Sony till recent years. Others need slueth surfing. Orig manuals/UGs can be hunted online, at auction sites, white papers, but pda OS levels (even pre os4), diy dev/compiler apps not subregistry bundled or easter egged in PalmC or javP are web strewn or in vtg 1990-2005 mobiles as unlockable Locked DevApps.
I was just searching for ideas on repurposing my Palm Pilots. This gives me some ideas. Thanks! And, btw the way, "I like an orgasm." "How many do you want?" "...How about we start off with some turquoise blue!" Great movie for the times, now it seems like a cheap pick up line :)
Good video. I have a Palm TX and have all my password (several hundred) in the Memos section of the PDA. The. TX is giving me problems syncing so that I cannot add new passwords in Memos to the Palm Desktop. I know the TX does not support Mass storage so it cannot be seen by the iPhone. But I would gladly purchase a Palm TE and sync my Memos to the iPhone. I wished you had shown files going to the iPhone from the Palm more than you did. I would like to sync my 300 memos to the iPhone and hopefully not one by one. There are programs to sync Palm Desktop to other formats, but my problem is that since I have not been able to sync from TX to Palm Desktop, I would be missing some updated passwords in the process.I may have to sit down and go through my Palm TX memo by memo and manually enter memos not on the Palm Desktop. By the way, the old Palm Desktop is not longer support (it linked to web page that no longer exists), and I use Palm Desktop by ACCESS. If you can think of anything to help me get the memos to iPhone it would be appreciated. All the best to you!
I love this video! I've had a Palm Life Drive since 2008, and bought a used one as a back up or for parts. The main reason for keeping my Life Drive is the huge database of my professional contacts. It was my intention to copy them to my iPhone, but being a procrastinator, I missed the opportunity to get a rather nice transfer application before it went toes up. Now I'm once again looking to salvage all my contact data and my notes from my Life Drive. I love to keep functional things alive and in use, but moving it directly is not necessarily my goal, although it looks like fun. Have you done any videos with mass transfer from a Life Drive, or do you know of ant such apps which do turn data into a word salad or alphabet soup? P.S. Turquoise Blue from Cocktail with Tom Cruise.
What a great video! Vtg rocks and old pda DAs and XMaster hacks still don't exist on modern devices, let alone fit an entire biz in a bag. Years ago I bought online a pda2usb cable that still gets + syncs pda apps off my pc. The orig pda BT SD card and IR each work great between all my/colleagues pdas. But cabling for some uses is faster/more secure than mobile surfing and wristing (like Mac1 days). With earliest freeware palm, blackberry, etc sites still web deep--archived, it's great 'returning home' to original b+w or full-color hi-rez pre PopCap, 007/Spy etc gaming, undelimited cache apps like orig memos, publishers, miniwikis, biz ole's, pdb's, gate apps, chatters, explorers like ZFile, Win+Url clone explorers like Barrel, and espec drivers for external power gear like pocket IR printers and Lan Wan thimbles. Nice to again carry my office in a lunch sack not a trolley, with phishproof mem cards holding fwd+reverse compatible data. If geeks today knew old pdas could hold the entire WizardOfOz compressed in 4meg, then it'd seem less mundane than knowing a IIIc could hold 30 quicktime vids for ofc eqpmt installs, Roland std mixers, midi studios, sfx publg, veh maint vids, EMS trax + PDRs.
I forgot to ask.... My Life drive`s BT sees my iPhone X but the iPhone appears to somehow see Life drive because it queries my Life Drive for a pass code, but when I enter the phone`s correct pass code, it is rejected. Is this another Apple `We don`t speak to peons`
I tired a Life Drive out initially, but couldn't get it to mount on the iPhone or on the macOS! It was weird, because it mounted in Windows and on my smart TV. I speculated that Apple had broken something with Palm years ago over them spoofing the Palm Pre as an iPod. The reason why it would then work on the Palm in my video was that it was 3rd party software sharing the SD card, and it identified itself as Sony and not Palm!

I haven't heard of the classic Palm OS supporting the OTG standard. I believe that standard was created after the classic Palm OS was finished.
I love this kind of stuff. Always trying to find reuse for old gadgets ❤️❤️
Way ahead of their time! I did some research on these and they are so cool.

I wish I had seen this earlier! Recently Graffitied my iPhone contacts to my Palm m515. Could have used this method instead! Thanks.

12:00 let's paint a happy tree
I am curious if the same sync can work with Android?

for some reason, I did not see the 'card reader' app, any suggestion?
It is a 3rd party app. You have to purchase it seperately.
@@will_it_work But from where?
Nostalgia Awesomeness!

I believe fat32 isn’t compatible with macOS period. I could be wrong though.
Macs have been able to read and write to FAT16/32 for decades.
