Enjoying a walk down memory lane on a cold January day. Love remembering how much fun it was playing Priss so many years ago. Hope everyone is well and safe!
i know im randomly asking but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
MDXLR Videos If you enjoy 80s pop music combined with awesome 80s hand drawn animation with sci-fi and chicks kicking ass in power armours, this is the anime for you.
Always great to see more of this show. Given what a troubled production it was, it came as a pleasant surprise when the Tokyo 2040 reboot happened. What I wouldn't give for another BGC series someday... Also: DYKA - please disregard the folks in this thread slamming anime critics on TH-cam. Use whoever you want to narrate these videos. Variety is good!
Irony that the studios fighting over it one went bankrupt the other was collapsed by the eletronics company who ran them and they gave the rights to the actual company who animated it AIC part of Pioneer LDC now NBC Universal Japan a Comcast company.
I remember this anime, rather well, since I own the box sets for both the TV and OVA. Good shows, and probably where my love of Power Armor comes from.
I would like you to make the last video of the year talking about Evangelion, for some reasons: -The plot takes place in year 2015 -It was a damn good anime -the movie The End of Evangelion was so weird that it deserve something to talk about !
+Did You Know Anime Ya it would be a real missed opportunity if that didn't happen. Also the guy that voices Shinji is really a nice guy and from what I heard thought the ending was shit. I have no idea what he thought about the ending to the film, but you have to hear his outtake of the final episode it was hilarious.
I got back from Sakura Con and I got to meet Kenichi Sonoda. He's a very humble man and I'm so glad I got to met him. But the 13 episodes was not true because during the panel Sonoda said that it was only intended to be 8 episodes from the beginning.
Maybe it's just because I've been thinking about it lately (so much so as to play the Newgrounds fan games), but I'd really love to see a DYKA on Love Hina.
Too bad it wasn't as popular in Japan as it was in the West. This series really needed more depth, length, and merchandise in the style of the original 1-7 episodes. Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 didn't cut it.
Excluding Speed Racer and Robotech, this was my first true anime. When I visited Tokyo a decade ago, I searched high and low until I got all the music CDs. Now...I just open up youtube.
Oh man, Bubblegum Crisis. This was one of the first anime I looked up myself once I was introduced to anime by a friend. Really like it, and I never knew the Boomers from Gears of War were named after the ones from this show; that's really cool.
wh3nderson95 Cole Train and Baird are my favorite characters; the Carmine's were cool but I always felt bad for them since most of them died in some really gruesome ways.
Does anyone know the name of the outro music that starts at 6:28? I've heard it used in the montage when Nene's working on the backlog of files in episode 8 (Scoop Chase) but that track is not on my Futureland Scoop Chase soundtrack CD (TYCY-5256).
It was later confirmed by the OVA chief director that there was never a long-term plan for 13 episodes as each episode was treated like a film than a series.
i remember the first time i watched this series. my old man said it was time for me to watch both bubblegum crash and crisis and so we spent the whole day watching old VHS's of the series we even watched his VHS that was a music video for all of the songs. that was some great times. on the same day we even watched his VHS of the wanderers. i think it was a different name when it came to the US all i can remember is it was apart of the tenchi muyo multiverse according to some fans
+shamankid91692 Awesome! If you're referring to what I think you are, the Wanderers was a TV adaptation of El-Hazard: The Magnificent World (awesome nineties OVA) which though not "technically" within the Tenchi multiverse (then again...transportation from dimensions is part of its premise so who knows lol), shares the same creator as the original Tenchi Muyo! OVA: Hiroki Hayashi. Who, incidentally, also worked on Bubblegum Crisis! It all comes full circle! ^^
yea the exact same show i just couldnt remember the proper name because the VHS and the DVD have two separate titles but i throw into the tenchi verse because the two share so many easter eggs if compare both VHS and DVD. i was so young when i watched both.
What about Bubblegum Crash? I think the stories and the overall are much better and more in line with the original Crisis than 2040's, even if the animation is pretty stiff (not unlike in 2040, which has somewhat poor animation). Maybe for a part 2 when you talk about the spinoffs A.D. Police, A.D. Police files and Parasite Dolls?
Not sure why they skipped over Crash, it was basically the scripts for the unfinished episodes of BGC Mashed into a 3 episode OVA. Though I did like that in Crash Nene finally got some real firepower for her suit with the sonic blasters. Until I saw it in the video I never realized how much Hiro's armor in Big Hero 6 resembles Priss's Hardsuit.
1:00 Whoa Hayashi's mentor (as Hayashi himself once referred to him) "Katsuhito" Akiyama looks exactly like Grandpa Katsuhito from Tenchi Muyo! But, you know, I'm sure that's just coincidence.... ^_-
*DYKA: Fooly Cooly* If you can't get an original DUB VA for it, don't get one of these anime internet-reviewer circle jerkers to do it either. Staff only.
+TheEvaGuy nah his FLCL review is like every other idiots "OMG I feel like I'm on drugs when I watch this OMGG DICKS ON FOREHEADS OMGGG it's SoOoOo RANDOM...good soundtrack tho"
+Vidyagamesnake the point of a review is not to agree with your opinion on something... It's to share the reviewers opinion of the work while accurately describing what the show is about. For example armada he doesn't like end of evangelion that much. I do. But that doesn't mean that I don't see why he doesn't like it or what his point of view is he points out when something is divisive and may only appear to some and When he generally thinks a show should be enjoyed by everyone . Demo is mostly comedic in his reviews for the most part and when he does get serious he does a great job pointing out its strengths or weaknesses. They're both good reviewers. It's not a matter of one having shit taste.
Holy shit this is why I clicked on the video I never seen bubblegum crisis but I seem bubblegum crisis Tokyo 2040 and I thought it was that so when I clicked on it and saw that it was something different I'm like oh this is the same concept but it's totally different only to find out it was the same thing
I swear I thought you guys did an episode over Cowboy Bebop, but apparently you haven't. If only you could get Melissa Fahn or someone to do an episode over it. You really couldn't get Beau Billingslea, Wendee Lee, or Steve Blum to do it due to their busy schedules. But wouldn't it be super sweet?
+GeniusIncarnate0 Hey MangaMan! I agree, and as someone whose default mode is usually "original is best, reboot must be inferior" for any given franchise, I gotta' admit: as someone who loves the original Bubblegum Crisis, 2040 was actually really, really good.
+wwwwhhhhoooo I admit, I too lean more towards the original series, but I thought it would be an awesome review idea to compare the two and other OVA vs. TV series!
+GeniusIncarnate0 you should check out the whoie universe AD police FIles, A.D. POlice(Different than Files) and the much darker Parasite Dols, and the forgot sequel CRash
There is something deeply satisfying hearing her voice say the word "Boomer". Absolute Nostalgia. Now I will go work out so that I can still fit in my suit.
+TheEvaGuy I love the 90s reboot (I think some people just like to rag on it just...because lol almost never for very good reasons), but I can't say it's "better" than the original: as Hiroki Hayashi said (director of reboot and director of one of the original OVA eps), the original was paving the way and after it was a hit they had a better chance with 2040 for a bit more of a drawn out story and a little bit more time with the characters. But anyway bottom line: if you liked 2040, you'll certainly enjoy the groundbreaking original.
+TheEvaGuy I actually preferred the 80s one more. The 90s one is more coherent but felt like a check list of everything that was being done in the 90s. I guess the 80s may have been the same about that decade but I prefer the hand drawn art and every episode had a completely different soundtrack and opening. In fact the 90s music fits but the 80s one the music was a centralized theme and you can see that when it plays the episode itself becomes a MTV style music video of that era. I'm getting at is the 90s one came out late in the 90s and feels generic of the 90s era where the 80s one is what originated the 80s fads of Anime of that decade.

Great job! :)
The fact that you guys found the ORIGINAL voice of Priss to do this is amazing. Thanks guys.
Hardly the "ORIGINAL."
Zarabada it is the original voice of her for many people in the English speaking countries
i know im randomly asking but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account?
I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
@Melvin Jackson Instablaster ;)
Hell yeah Bubblegum Crisis! This is old school awesomeness right here.
MDXLR Videos If you enjoy 80s pop music combined with awesome 80s hand drawn animation with sci-fi and chicks kicking ass in power armours, this is the anime for you.
+MDXLR Videos This series isn't for everyone, but it's so charming and engrossing.
***** Yeah, I mean, what anime from the 80's worth it's salt wasn't rough around the edges?
I wanted a suit like Nene’s when I was younger
The soundtrack to this OVA... Just, damn.
One of the best in anime.
Holy crap, that voice sends wonderful waves of nostalgia up my spine. Thank you for narrating this, Sinda!
Was great hearing Ms Sinda Nichols talk about the series; I almost identified her straight away from the intro.
I've been a fan of Bubblegum Crisis since the 90's and I had no idea about the music video connection. Great research!
Always great to see more of this show. Given what a troubled production it was, it came as a pleasant surprise when the Tokyo 2040 reboot happened. What I wouldn't give for another BGC series someday...

Space Dandy - Did You Know Anime featuring Ian Sinclair when?
+D180223 When Ian gets out of Boobies for the evening (and when Funimation releases their grip on him) lol
+Did You Know Anime Damn it. That will be a long time from now. Boobies and Funimation are a deadly pair of distractions.
+MDXLR Videos I can't blame him. That menu must be massive because of all the different foods of space... Now I'm hungry.

I honestly never heard of this anime until I watched this. Gotta check this out.

I like that you are featuring old classics. Keep it up!
Seriously crossing my fingers for DYKA of Tokyo 2040, personally in my top 5 anime of all time
One for Read or Die (R.O.D.) would be awesome as well!
Holy shit, I just finished watching the original series after seeing the reboot. This is fantastic.
+Blue i know i wish 2041 came through
Reboot sucked.
They always do.
The name of the anime caught me.
Sinda Nichols in an episode of DYKA? nice! :D
Best music in any anime ever
That's fucking amazing ya'll got Sinda Nichols, that's really fucking cool.
One of my old time favorites. Thanks for covering this. :3
Fantastic overview of the series, top notch!
A neat video with a good explanation of the BGC.
i didnt know there's a channel dedicated for anime trivias. sugoi
Maybe it's just because I've been thinking about it lately (so much so as to play the Newgrounds fan games), but I'd really love to see a DYKA on Love Hina.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes, featuring ThatAnimeSnob
+vladthetransilvanian
That would be interesting.
HOLY CRAP! BUBBLEGUM CRISIS!!!!??!!! I thought you guys didn't know great anime! Glad I was wrong.
This was a really fun look into Bubblegum Crisis. Do you have any plans on doing one for Birdy the Mighty?
Love me some 80's OVA's
That ending..... "Nene will remember that."
Excluding Speed Racer and Robotech, this was my first true anime. When I visited Tokyo a decade ago, I searched high and low until I got all the music CDs. Now...I just open up youtube.
Used to watch this on Locomotion. Pretty good.
Now they just need to do one about Dirty Pair.
I love you guys!
Oh my Priss! I love you!!
wow I remember watching this for hours when I was 8 or so
Old School awesome sci fi anime awesomeness
You can thank me for that photo of Kenichi Sonoda. ;D
Great show btw! I enjoy the facts you put in.
+Bitoru Thank you! and glad you enjoyed the episode.
Oh hells yeah! Bubblegum Crisis!
Heh.... so the same thing that happened to Bubblegum Crisis also happened to Descent and Freespace... *sigh*... damned studio politics
Oh man, Bubblegum Crisis. This was one of the first anime I looked up myself once I was introduced to anime by a friend. Really like it, and I never knew the Boomers from Gears of War were named after the ones from this show; that's really cool.
I found that fact pretty interesting too.
The Boomers I mean. I love Gears.
wh3nderson95 I also like the Gears series, too. I love playing Horde mode in Gears 3.
Surprised Robot Same. I always rock Carmine or Baird.
wh3nderson95 Cole Train and Baird are my favorite characters; the Carmine's were cool but I always felt bad for them since most of them died in some really gruesome ways.
thank you for such a nice video. !

Can you do Ranma 1/2
Please do Hitman Reborn
So what's better the original or the spiritual successor? I've only watched the remake on Netflix but never finished it before it gotten taken down
