  • We get the first flight on the Kraken 580 6s on Vbar. Running a Vbar EVO this helicopter is locked in and performs great! The kraken really is a great heli at all head speeds!

      Lol no I don’t, I’ve said many times heli’s don’t fly great or need something different. The difference is I pay for pretty much EVERYTHING on this channel. So if it flys great it’s great if not then it don’t. SAB don’t send me helis lol unlike the Rc sailors that get everything for free so of course they have to say it’s amazing.

      I get where you're coming from, however, Ive never built a SAB that WASNT amazing! and the 580 series especially so. There's something about this size thats extremely satisfying to fly. The 420 and even the new 500 just don't feel the same in the air. A Raw 580 nitro with 605's on a 8.6:1 ratio is the golden child of my arsenal. But my point was if you review Ferrari's and Porsches and such, you're probably going to spend a lot of time amazed. Im not just drooling on SAB either. The general quality of RC helicopters is higher than its ever been, ever, across almost all manufacturers. Anyone who lived through the flybar 450 revolution knows what im talking about! there was some serious clone trash back then. anyway just sayin, its come a long way and for the few of us who started in the 80's, man, it really is amazing.

    For such a class you need to install 12s with a capacity of about 2600mah; this will not only give more power, but will significantly extend the life cycle of the batteries, at least twice!

    How much of a difference does that radio make on how you can fly a helicopter if any?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Technically none. The real difference comes down to ergonomically of the actual transmitter how it feels in your hands how much more comfortable you are with the transmitter compared to others. Vbar does seem to fly better and more locked in.

    I need some help. I believe I'm having static discharge issues with my kraken 580. I'm in a dry climate and right now the humidity is around 25-30%. The first time this happened was right as the heli came off the ground, about 3-4ft, it made a weird noise and the tail twitched. I landed and inspected everything, couldn't find any issues and it flew fine after that.
    A few flights later it did the same thing, exactly the same timing as it was coming off the ground a few feet up except this time it went completely dead. It dawned on me after this that it might be static. I checked continuity on the boom and had none so i grounded the boom to the frame and the tail case, now I had good continuity everywhere. I also lubed the belt which hadn't been done since the machine was built, 15-20 flights ago.
    5 or 6 flights later it happens again, same timing, right after taking off a few feet high and it goes completely dead.
    Does this sound like a static issue? I'm running a 6250hx so I don't have any data logging to look at. I'm thinking I'll ground the negative side of power to the frame and lube the belt more frequently but that's all I have for solutions. Any advice?
    Thanks

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmm! Wow! Never ran into that issue on a Kraken 580 or 700. That kinda sounds like a static issue but maybe it’s a static issue with the 6250? I know on the fireball and mini comet there is an anti-static wire, but there has never gonna need on anything bigger than that. I run iKon and Vbar NEO and EVO. No issues at all. Have you tired the tail case side to the main plate? For a static wire.

    • @mikeobryan8368
      @mikeobryan8368 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 I haven't ran a wire to the tail case. I ran one from the main frame/motor mount screw to the carbon boom where I ground down the carbon to get good contact. I get 12 ohms from the tail case side plate to the main frame with that so I didn't think a wire to the tail was necessary. Maybe I'll try a direct wire to the tail case, I'm desperate. Is that how the anti static wire is for the comet and fireball?

      150s, I have leveled swash, rebound and redid factory settings many times. The higher the rpm the more tail wobble. It is like this because I have crashed it, but I have done everything I could to try and fix it. All stock parts accept landing gear and swash plate. Helli itself has no shake just the tail.@@westhobbiesrc8051

    I"m looking to buy something to upgrade my SAB Goblin 500 and that will be my first helicopter I build myself.
    So I've been looking at SAB Urukay and T-rex 760X F3C and notice the massive difference in price.
    As I know you fly both brands maybe you can explain why that is?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Both models are great options. Of course as you know, SAB is unmatched and on top of everybody else. There’s a lot that goes into their kits that justify the price compared to align helicopters. Not only do they fly better. They are engineered better and build quality is a lot better but you are definitely paying for it. It really depends on what your end goal is, I own a 760X and it is a great Heli! But it’s just a 700X stretched. Where the SAB is a full design of it self,

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Telemetry mainly, but there’s a couple different ways you can do it. Dividing the ratio of the helicopter with the voltage that you’re using is one way you could use a tachometer. I normally just use telemetry.

      Low head speed and a lot of pitch at the end. It’s a 570 blade there’s not a lot of inertia there to keep it spinning. None of my 580s spin forever unless I land at 2000+ RPM.

    • @RotoRCol
      @RotoRCol 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 maybe is because it uses a belt system, because my trusty align trex 500 torque tube which uses 425 mm blades keeps the inertia for longer time and using -12.5 degrees to stop them faster and you can see in your raw 580 the blades exactly at the end before they stop feel that they have drag or braking. Maybe the belt create more friction only specially at low rpm almost before they stop spinning
