I've not heard of the small varieties that you've got there Paul. It'll be interesting to hear what they're like later on in the year. Moneymaker is a popular tomato. My favourites are the small cherry ones.

I too like the cherry toms, especially when eaten straight away warm from the sunshine. I'm looking forward to tasting these new ones and seeing which is the best. Take care xxx

Starting tomatoes this week. The vermiculite on top is a good tip. Fungus gnats are a pain. Starting chianti Rose (slicer), Sheboygan,, San Marzano, and a rainbow mix (heirlooms) all new to me. Should be interesting.❤ Good luck with yours. Looking forward to your results.

Thanks Sue, I've not heard of any of those until now. It's good to try new varieties and keep the heirlooms going. I like the shape of the San Marzano, they look like small peppers! Hope you get great results with these. Thanks for sharing 😄👍

Do you know the old german variety 'Harzfeuer ' ?It is a bright red salad tomato that is suitable for greenhouses as well as outdoors and containers. If the plants are protected from rain, they are only slightly susceptible to disease and produce beautiful, even, largely burst-resistant fruits. The juicy pulp is surrounded by a thin, soft skin. The taste is fruity, sweet, with a subtle sour note.
For me the harvest starts at the beginning of August. The variety tends to be somewhat green if the soil is over-fertilized with nitrogen. I only fertilize very little and when I do, then only with diluted plant manure.

I didn't know about Harzfeuer but having just looked it up, it is now on my list for next year - thanks for recommending! It sounds like a great tasting tomato and great that it was bred from the Moneymaker tomato too :)
