Today, let's talk about one of the most overpowered items to ever exist in league of legends. This item broke the balance of the game, broke the patch notes, and broke op champs into being impossible for league of legends to balance. Many low elo players could win with these champions and tanks such as Dr Mundo Singed and Shen were the perfect top laners for climbing and showed how to climb in low elo. Let's talk about Force of Nature, otherwise known as Two Spatulas on TFT.

@@uygarcelik7 If you truly have to ask that question, look at the armor items, then look at the magic resistance items. You'll quite quickly see just how pathetic the magic resistance items are. Another huge difference is that the max armor % pen you can get is 35 while for magic resistance it's 40. Not only that, but the Void Staff is just a lot easier justify building on any mage due to them not requiring as much synergy with their items. That's a reason why I liked that Infinity Edge doubled crit chance before. If you built crit, you only needed 3 items to max out the crit chance, which left space for items such as Lord Dominik's Regards and other situational items. An ADC who has 5 out of 6 item slots reserved for boots and crit, that's not exactly a great situation to be in. Although I personally hate the crit meta, I feel like it should be a risk vs reward thing rather than "now you always deal double damage" but hey, that's just me.
Basically, it's a lot of reasons together that just makes the mr items terrible. Oh, and pretty much half of them are meant for increased damage rather than actually tanking. Plus, the nerf to the health regen does very little to help tanks. Warmog's passive is overpowered if it's always active, yes, but why not you know, nerf it? Or better yet, just halve the health regen or something while in combat and leave it be.

@@shotsfiredman Being honest with you, I miss the revive but it was unnecessary. Let's say you manage to kill someone and get the revive, you may revive and your team kills everyone else OR you just waste their time reviving by getting killed again. It wasn't interesting or flashy or fun to deal with, it was incredibly biased on "being useful" or "being useless". At least they buffed the self healing buff and with conqueror and ravenous Hunter is pretty bonkers

Now I want a game mode where old items that were essentially split into two (force of nature, zonyah's ring, etc) can be built out of those items. So you can combine a spirit visage and a warmogs into a force of nature, etc. Just for kicks

Tell me about it. I remember taking a small break 10 years ago, and coming back to find Sivir's bouncing blade was no longer toggleable and dodge was removed. Good times, its been a nice 10 years of gameplay...until they started nerfing/remaking all my favorite champions into a bastardized version of what I once loved.

I remember a time when riven was top tier, bullshit shielding, bullshit cooldowns, and mega bullshit hp regen. A time when you could smash your dick across the keyboard and get a penta. Though, if i had to say the two most nightmare scenerios in league were rengars release, and diannas release as first time players could literally roll their face over the keyboard and win the game. When fighting rengar wasn't a moba, it was a horror game where that little bastard could literally jump your shit without warning for upwards of 1-2k damage in a second without warning or counter play. Or dianna could simply wqr and your full hp tank was dead, god save the backline if they ever got in R range.

I wouldn't. I'd rather be able to actually kill a problem champion through planning than have that problem champion be too hard catch out and kill.
In other words, I'd rather be able to burst down and take out a fed Vayne in a catch, than try and attempt to burst down and catch a fed Maokai only to have him live and sustain infinitely and never be able to kill him.
The thing is riot enjoys keeping their hentai money makers at top tier. You know, riven, kaisa, akali even vayne sometimes

You say tanks are busted in the meta, but as a Rammus One-Trick who I can promise you even though my champ is being played more and is abusable rn, tanks are in a god awful spot rn. The pen items make us melt like butter and the metric fuckton of healing items just counters our ability to soak out damage

Riven being weak lul. We really need a good mr item so I wouldn't really mind if force of nature was reintroduced. Why can armour items have 100 armour but no tabk item can have more than 50 mr.

It also happens that the best MR item is for mages
Spirit Visage needs its build path buffed, specifically the Cowl which is dreadful. Aside from that we need an actually good dedicated MR tank item like FoN, in fact, just bring FoN back. The game has never felt the same without the pure HP/Armor/MR trinity that once was Warmogs/Thornmail/FoN, though both the others new give other stats as well.

Fist just had too much damage, sunfire cape does damage over time, and Spirit visage makes all healing better. My friends and I referred to it as a Bruiser meta. Because that's what it was. BRUISERS were better, and some tanks who can kind of be bruisers too. Tanks are a joke compared to what they used to be.
A real tank was a season 2 legitimate tank like Shen, Amumu, Malphite, or Nautilus who had 3 items, Force of nature, Thornmail, and Warmogs. They would lumber towards the adc menacingly, the adc would run in fear to avoid the CC, they'd finally stun them. Then hit the adc a bunch for almost no damage. An adc was likely to die from thornmail slowly killing them rather than the actual tank, and his refusal to die. OR alternatively be locked in an eternal battle with said tank because they bought a bloodthirster first, which was standard at the time. The damage came mostly from the rest of the team, not the tank themselves. Something Riot forgot was the WHOLE POINT OF THE TANKS. Not to do damage, or do something to cc the enemy team, die, then hope the rest of the team can follow up.
Ever since they got on the whole "percent health damage" train, tanks have kind of been in a weird spot as to their durability. Not to mention Lethality, and armor pen have made buying armor a weird math game. Magic resist items being in 3 categories, Spirit Visage for heal-y tanks, Adaptive helm which feels so niche, even against people it's supposed to be good against it's effect is so negligible it's pointless, or Abyssal mask which is good if your an ap tank, or wearing a sunfire cape, kind of. none of those options are legitimately for a tank. The best part is that Liandry's Torment has become such a staple that all three of these aren't good enough. Banshee's veil has just become a weird AP item rather than a tank item too. There are no GOOD magic resist items anymore. Everyone builds Spirit visage because it's the best one, not because it's the most effective, it's just the ONLY option at this point.
I'm sorry I got a Tangent here, but Tanks used to be my fav type of character in league. Until they've kind of ruined them, now I'm an enchanter support main. Don't even get me started on their poultry choices for the "late game"

if you hate tanks, just play fiora or vayne… its literally impossible to even play a tank when either of those 2 are on the enemy team...
here is a tip: make it so all the hyper damagers dont deal 5x the damage of any squishy targets health in 1 ability anymore, and then we can take a look at nerfing tanks... the issue with tanks isn't tanks, its shit like khazix, or syndra 1 shotting your backline without any form of counterplay possability... how else do you ballance tanks besides giving them 6k health, and 500 armor/300 MR, if that litterally means they still get blown up in 3 seconds (all of wich they are CC'd for)

Thank you tanks are the answer to hyper carries and the only reason people complain about them is because they want to be able to just make the enemy team disappear who needs strategy and actually do objectives when you can just insta delete the enemy team.
Tanks were the big counter to those champs and they should stay that way
The issue is always about the tank job in league compared to a MMO.
What's the tank job? Taking damage to protect your dps, very simple.
But in an MMO you achieve this with taunt and aggro management, in league there are very few taunt abilities and (in theory) every player is smart enough to understand who is the best target between a 1000 Hp adc and a 7000 Hp tank.
So they gave damage to tank so that the opponent couldn't ignore them.
You could say "just give tank more cc abilities and less dmg" but the problem is that many tanks are supposed to be top and jungler, so they need damage in their kit to 1vs1 or they would be useless.
There was a time when you could stack bloodthirster, that was pretty broken.
Used to run like 3 of them and infinity for the rest.

not all tanks, but tanks that deal a lot of damage are hated because it just doesn't make sense, there is resistance, damage & cc, you can't have all three.

Please buff BC but that conqueror's true dmg can gtfo, tanks are shit right now because of how much true dmg there is in the game, they seriously feel garbage to play, bruisers do their job better while also dealing dmg.
Edit: the only decent tanks are cho'gath and juggernauts like nasus and darius
why can tanks easily kill any bruiser early game and nearly throughout the entire laning phase, the only high true dmg thats in the game is from vayne or fiora. tanks are also not made for dealing damage and usually good for teamfight tanking, bruisers more often have to splitpush or well juggernauts like nasus or darius, cho gath is a very good tank cause of his utility factor. when you play a tank, pick him for your team comp, not for the 1v1 in laning phase cause youre gonna beat that anyways if you dont play like garbage.
@@shotsfiredman yeah, that's true, i was not complaining about 1v1s tho, what i meant was that most tanks do not feel so useful as frontliners compared to other champs like bruisers or tanky mages. Their damage is too high in the laning phase and i completely agee with that, but at the same time their defenses seem useless as the game progresses. I think that black cleaver should be buffed exactly for this reason, if bruisers can counter-build tanks then riot can start to adjust tanks themselves to give them back the spot they now lack. True damage in the form of conqueror, and spells should not even be there to begin with, because that's basically saying that all of the gold you spent making yourself unkillable got wasted and you don't get any counterplay to that since building damage on a tank is almost always not beneficial
@@loliabuzerthe problem is that without stuff like conqueror, tanks become unkillable for bruisers and not every bruiser builds black cleaver, there arent many item combination choices for bruisers anymore. mages were always seen kind of as an anti tank but the problem is that the mr items to make you not die have low hp so mages are the strongest they have ever been since then, also if you look at armor items, you can get armor a lot and you will be unkillable where as if you wanna stack mr against mages they can still easily kill you. everytime i play a tank frontline i will get a double and then die and my rest teams full or we ace and i dont even die, i will get easy through laning phase and then just win, idk why im extraordinarily good at tanks, might be cause i have a good understanding of the game as when i started my first champ was garen, orrrr its cause i have 4 mil mastery points in toplane on all my accs combined xD

I picked up the game very late season five. Essentially started playing lol regularly starting with season six. Season six was by far the most fun I've ever had with the game. It's okayish now, but I don't think I'll ever be having as much fun again as I was at the height of the tank meta.

I remember Malady, that one item that was like sword of the occult and mejais soulstealer but for tanks, of course executioner's calling having lifesteal, tf's e level one tp into enemy base and make friends with them, heim having 5 turrets where his ult upgrades each one individually, first level is base turret, second level green turret giving pen (i think it was magic pen) and his 3rd level for them made them red and gave them AOE damage. you could set turrets across the map and it'd still work, just take promote and clairvoyance and you could avoid ganks like the plague while stacking tank items and gold gen items lul

I think Riot should implement more new items in the game in general...the builds for some champions (or even classes of champions) are so stagnant from game to game...more items in every department with some unique actives would make a vitalizing effect on the game.
Also, to the point about tanks. They cannot be balanced for pro and regular play. If they are viable in soloqueue - they are broken in proplay. Assassins have this problem too but reversed: if they are viable for proplay - they are broken in soloqueue.

Would love to see a deep dive into the Snowball Sister items. I know the main game still has Mejai's in it still but people that played early on should have plenty of memories of crazy people trying to play a hybrid like Akali and going for the full stacked SotO/Mejai's dream.

Back then I liked to build force of nature as last item on Cassiopeia. The healing on her kit alongside the extra tankiness against mages was amazing.

I already got a glimpse of what something like all of those items on one Tank recently by facing a Tahm Kench with near full build. He got it surprisingly quickly and had 15 kills I was staring at this Kench with over 5000 health (This is after Kench even got "nerfed") thinking I could as Darius along with our entire team face this Kench and no one literally no one would come close to killing him and he could kill them all with basically barely trying that is some of the ominous power of the tank meta in my mind.
Something I didn't hear him mentioning, is the fact that back then mobility on champions was quite limited, there were no zeds, quiyana, talon or any other champion that had blink or leap abilities. So movement speed was a core stat back then, combine that with the amount of Mr and build path it had, it was used by alot of melee champions, morde was great with it combining with rylais and you end up sticking on your opponents.
Building a Warmog's on Kog'Maw back in season 4 was actually how I got my first penta in the game haha
