The latter part of the 20th century did not produce the most creative cocktails. With few exceptions, the Cosmopolitan being a notable one, the 70's, 80's and 90's are considered a dark time in the history of mixed libations. But, there are some often overlooked gems that continue to refresh and tantalize. Unfortunately, with the Lemon Drop, the recipe has devolved into a syrupy, cloying, artificial flavor laden mess. As with all great cocktails gone awry, a return to fresh and simple ingredients revives it and brings it back to its former glory. The Lemon Drop also demonstrates how vodka can spread out and maximize the complimentary flavors in a cocktail.

Absolut Citron is made exclusively from natural ingredients, and unlike most other flavored vodkas, it doesn’t contain any added sugar. To put it short and simple: Absolut Citron is smooth and mellow, with a fresh fruity lemon and lime character and a note of lemon peel.
He reminds me of the voice of Mr. Fischoeder from Bobs Burgers. I wanna hear him say Bob.
Okay, I thought my bar had everything, but at the end of your presentation, you created a nice lemon peel strip and twisted it around a rod.... I now am on the hunt for these two devices for my bar! Can someone please update my comment here with the "names" of these two devices? Thanks!!!
GREAT drink Presentation! I always hate it when people just make a drink with ingredients, but don't explain the WHY!!! - Robert Hess did a BRILLIANT job in defining the "WHY" he chose the ingredients he did! I'll be having some Lemon Drops this afternoon!
He cut the lemon peel with a "channel knife". I've never seen the stainless steel rod trick, or where he got it, but a chopstick would work just fine

You can use a stainless steel straw.

It's a both easy and fantastic drink with lots of lemon flavour to it! I like it best if you ad just an additional pinch of granulated sugar AFTER shaking it. It won't dissolve and thus reminds you of a candy.

I just want to point out that absolut citron is not citron flavored, it's lemon flavored. Citron is swedish for lemon.
I have an app on my phone for cocktail recipies. Unfortunately I've come to realize just how bad most of the recipies are. The app has one for the Lemon Drop (i've forgotten the exact messurements) but it calls for lemon flavor vodka, sour mix, lemon juice, sugar, and seven-up

Just get some cheap vodka and squeeze some Lemmon in, maby an ice cube or 2 boom
there are more citrus vodkas than absolut, and you can still make citrus vodka at home.
Absolut citroen is not made out of natural ingredients. The closest to "natural ingredients" in flavoured vodkas, is stoli.

+Herp Derp It's small as hell. This video honestly sucks for telling how to make a good lemon drop. Since watching this video I've made lemon drops that are actually good and not barely over a shot thru some simple home experimentation. My advice, don't listen to this guy.

With that being said, I love the series, but this took the craftsmanship angle a bit over the top.
This is cocktail is gonna come out less than 3 ozs. Don't love that.
