    After two years watching his videos I finally realized what subtle little and minor detail made them so enjoyable to watch for me: He drew inspiration from Frank Howarth, which subconciously kinda made it feel like coming home when discovering this channel. Thank you. :)

    You're an insanely talented individual and I love what you did with the signs (the Giant Bomb one especially, since that's what led me here). Also, "the most sad I've been for the loss of someone I've never met"... I know that feeling, dude. Ryan in our hearts forever. Keep up the great work!

    • @armchairdan
      @armchairdan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I talk about that in my film classes all the time. As a lifetime film nerd, I have dozens of actors that I had an attachment to that passed away, and it never felt like a personal loss. With Ryan, it was like losing a close friend. I've heard the feeling expressed by others, also. I think it is a testament to how likable Ryan was but also to how powerful his and Jeff's vision of a personality driven site where fans just got to hang out with the editors was.

    • @MarcusofaDown
      @MarcusofaDown 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know exactly what you mean and I agree. The way Ryan, Jeff and the guys put themselves out there makes us care for them in a way that gets under your skin. I, like you, felt like it was someone close to me that passed away that day.

    I think I have a new favorite TH-camr. Your demeanor is refreshing and is akin to that of Frank Howarth, who is another of my favorites. Without getting overly verbose, thanks for your excellent content, extremely creative ideas and having the boldness to share the many things you create (inlcuding challenges you encounter and fears you face), both for practical function and for high quality art and loving the people you care about in a personal fashion. I'm slowly making my way through all of your videos and have thoroughly enjoyed taking it all in. Please continue!

    Am a fan of frank, his work and his videos. Love watching them. I've grown to love his workshop. I saw your video in the mix and I must say you're incredibly talented. It's amazing how you balance the hard work on the field with your art. And your commentary, like Frank's, is lovely to listen to. But what I'm super impressed about is the gifts you made for people you admire. That's awesome. And they are artisinal and lovely. And in metal, wow. Well done mate.

    Watched your video and really enjoyed it as always. I then watched one of frank Howard's videos and wanted to thank you. I can see how he would be an inspiration. So again thank you. Also the signs where great you do good work and I like how you place family values in your videos.

    I just watched your video doing Frank's, Bomb, and your sister's signs. WOW! Jay Bates posted it, and I was blown away by your vision and the fact that I too have been inspired by some of the You Tube presenters, Jay being one of them. Your story is close to my story except you have taken it upon yourself to make contact to say thanks to certain inspirations. Very refreshing in today's world to find somebody who would do that.

    Stumbled on your channel thanks to TH-cam recommendations. Loved this and your style. The 17 minute time scared me but I just couldn't stop watching. The stop motion was such a great touch! And as of this being typed, I have yet to see any other of your videos but you had me hooked at the 2:38 to the 3:15 sequence. Editing, content, creativity, music...wow. Captivating and inspiring video...not to mention the skill you have. B E A utiful work! You have earned another subscriber. Cant wait to binge watch past vids!

    This is awesome. As someone who got pretty big into screen printing a long time ago, this might be my next real hobby if I can afford the tools...
    I also stopped by from Giant Bomb. I feel extremely similar about having listened to them shoot the shit for years and years, and I think your signs are just amazingly unique (from what it seems like, literally priceless right now) and that is such an awesome gift. I would've been a bit miffed if the Giant Bomb guys were anything but amazed at getting this in a mailbag!
    EDIT: LOL nope, I'm not gonna be doing this anytime ever... not sure why I thought screen printing would be ANY similar past stencils. But it is awesome to watch.

    Hey man,
    I found out about your channel through this video when it was first posted on Reddit and GAF and I have since went back and watched ALL your videos over a 2 weeks period! lol. Amazing work dudder! As someone who's lived in a big city his whole life and never touched any kind of metal work or farming I find it really fascinating to watch your videos. It's like a completely different world compared to mine. It's super informative, interesting and relaxing. You're great at explaining and showing what you're doing throughout all those projects. I love the metal/mechanical repairs stuff as much as the actual farming videos.
    Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to watching your next videos!

    Your best video to date (my opinion) and also the first of yours I saw. I also subscribe to Frank Howarth's channel and I guess that led me here. Frank's influence is evident and it's good on ya.At this point I think I've watched most of the videos you've uploaded (enjoyed each!) and I must say that 15-20 minutes is the sweet spot for me. Longer than that and I usually don't have time to watch the whole thing in one sitting... Just some feedback, take it or leave it.Thanks for the great videos and letting us peek inside your life!

    Nice job on the video and great gesture for them all. I ran into the same issue with clear coat oil based paints and made some inquiries, I was told that clears are generally a final coat and they want them to dry quick they this them down with more solvents. Thus if you apply just that much too much, they wrinkle up. Make sure the lower is good and dry and apply the clear in lighter coats. Keep the faith, Billy , B.C.

      Funny being we are, most of our best learns seem to come that way. When I was 5, in the late 40's, my grandad and I were in his kitchen and I was over by the cook stove. He could see that I was interested in it and wanted to touch it . He said" you could do that if you really want to". I did and you know the outcome , a little burn on my finger. That always bothered me and at 15 I asked him one day why he let me do that. He said" I could have sat here for a week and told you, Billy that's hot, Billy that's hot and you still would know what hot was until you felt it. He said he was watching me close and I wasn't about to do serious damage so he thought that was any easy lesson". I agreed and gave him a big hug, Cheers, Billy

When you mentioned Ryan's passing (Giant Bomb host and a truly unforgettable great, talented human being) and hearing your reasoning for creating the sign i was like...wow...okay.. this guy obviously seems awesome, maybe i'm not a weirdo for still really being affected by someone that died tragically that i'd never met. Hard to describe really, other than no-one i know personally gets it. Seeing this on the site i felt connected in that loss for that moment and compelled to write this. Thank you. Great job, I watch Frank too. I'm sure he will be proud to hang the sign in his shop.
    I'll be looking for it in future videos.

    Just saw your sign on the Giantbomb Mailbag! Great job! I wish I had the space to build a shop like yours...and your talent and know-how to build awesome stuff like the signs of course. ;)
    Best wishes from Germany.

    Great video...I just went to Frank's video to see the sign and got totally caught up in watching the video and forgot about looking for the sign... Frank's videos have a way of doing that to you.Ps. I did see the sign the second time through... maybe it was the third... can't wait to see more of your videos.

    Amazing, very cool video and love the stories behind each object. You're very good at storymaking (and of course making in general :) )
