#Blurays #4kmovies #physicalmedia
I'm picking up the 4ks of Blue Velvet, Bound, Days of Heaven and Blood Simple for sure.
Goddamn you got good taste.
It’s crap we don’t get any Criterion sales in the UK. I just paid £39 to import Blue Velvet 4K, and the corners got dented. What a joke.
But you guys get Eureka, Second Sight, Radiance, etc.
@@KirkRedgate was that wowhd they have been putting in a thick cardboard protector on digipack releases more recently.
@994pt4 I know there's pros and cons in each country. The yearly Criterion sales hit pretty hard. Also, you guys have Kino and Shout/ Scream Factory. I bought Cry Baby with Blue Velvet. the total was £67! That's a tough pill to swallow for just two standard editions.
criterion does get some nice titles, but ya'll have better encoding
Was going through the Criterion list today, adding movies to my wishlist so I can go through and pick up some titles.
Bound is excellent. I have a current blu ray but may still pick up the 4k this next month.
Coen Brothers are absolutely awesome. I always point to Miller's Crossing as one of the best and Blood Simple as the most surprisingly scary. And for just pure fun, there's always O Brother Where Art Thou.
O brother is my literal favorite movie
SICK!!!
GOING CRAY, CRAY ON THIS SALE!!!
Great tips, Ken!
After Hours. Dogfight. Fantastic Planet. My Beautiful Launderette. Weekend.
Fuck I wanted to get DOGFIGHT but I don't even have GIRLFRIENDS yet.
Good recommendations! I recently watched the 4Ks of To Die For and Peeping Tom and both are very solid films and look great, especially PT.
Definitely grabbing The Fisher King and Bound.
The Red Shoes and Time Bandits were two of my previous favorites. Gonna shoot for Bound and Malcom X on this sale.
Hot dog. This is inside information. This Friday! Thanks for the heads up.
Collect the Barnes and noble stamps.
most wholesome comment i read today
Kino lorber having 10 year anniversary sale going on now I just ordered some 50% off
Dang, I'm gonna have to head over there now!
SO MUCH TO BUY! 😝🤘
I know how you feel it was announced the other day on shelf space with kino lorber
WHAT?!!
Remember, Risky Business in 4k will be released in the month of July from Criterion.
Princess bride. That’s it.
Ken, you need to watch Trainspotting. I remember you showing it off in a video & saying you've never seen it. It’s better than any movie you listed. I can bet that it will be in your top 5 Criterion movies.
pat garret and billy the kid is an absolute day one purchase for me i'm so excited for it
Great recommendations! Deep Cover is so good. All 5 you’re looking to pick up are on my list as well.
Thanks Ken! This got my juices flowing for this sale!
Your Deep Cover review was how I discovered your channel. Laurence Fishburne was coolest he’s ever been in that movie.
Awesome! I love that movie!
Bound is fun!
Well...half of it is. The other half is nerve-wracking.
Some great recommendations and much enjoyed, thanks Ken. I'm probably an outlier, but I will not consider Peeping Tom. I saw it streamed a few weeks ago and I so badly wanted to like it because I was hyped to buy the 4k, so glad I screened it first. As you say, Don't Look Now definitely has an unexpected ending, say whaaaat! Riding on that ending may I suggest Criterion release of The Vanishing; imo it has maybe the biggest and most unexpected ending twists in movie history....I mean wow. I'll be picking up during sale Bound, Godland, The Devil's Advocate, Anatomy of a Fall.
Dont know why I've never thought to get Night of the Living Dead as many times that I've seen it, will pick this up as well as La Bamba.
My sale pickups include:
Trainspotting
Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down
Bound
Blood Simple
Secret Sunshine
Still want:
Come and See
Miller’s Crossing
Perfect Days
Harakiri
Eraserhead
fear and loathing in las vegas....blue velvet...repo man....all good ones
REPO MAN 4K won't be out til September.
@@Theomite ya i just noticed that..of course not long after i got the blu ray from them...but that being said i don't know how it could look any better. That movie is pretty funky to begin with as far as picture goes..ill keep my blu ray ;-)
@@nunyabidness7547 I'll upgrade 'cuz IDGAF. REPO MAN, baby!
I need the Michael Haneke Trilogy and Time Bandits
I own the Michael Haneke Trilogy. It's a fantastic package. I love 71 Fragments.
Ken u should check out the film Seconds there’s a Criterion blu ray of it. It’s a great very Twilight Zone esque film from 1966.
I like your recommendations! I'm picking up To Die For, Billy the Kid, and Peeping Tom.
Nice.
To Die For is great. I have never seen Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, but I usually like Sam Peckinpah's films.
Great selections. I have qyuite a few of those in my collection and some you mentioned I still need to grab (Dont Look Now, Night of the Living Dead, and Shaft). And I think Miller's Crossing is top 5, possibly top 3 all time great Coen Bros films.
I stopped by our new Barnes and Noble and got Bound 4k, Blue Velvet 4k, and Blood Simple 4k for $75.❤
Bound is a FANTASTIC movie!
I want to pick up the first Godzilla and Punch Drunk Love. I want to get Seven Samurai and the Bruce Lee collection would be cool to have.
I’m taking it lite with Criterion sale. Probably only grabbing three because this July is stacked with other releases. I’m definitely in for Bound 4K, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 4K and definitely Risky Business 4K because that’s one I’ve never seen. Uncut Gems is a definite must because I saw it in the Theaters and I was emotionally drained by the end due to what happens to Sandler characters. Definitely one of the most anxiety ridden movies I’ve seen on the big screen
Definitely going to get Bound. And possibly Blowout.
I plan to buy...To Die For, Throne of Blood, Bound, Blue Velvet (4K), Anatomy of a Fall, and Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid.
Thelma & Louise was one of the best 4Ks I ever watched - love those digipack releases
I'm planning on grabbing Risky Business and Bound on 4K.
I love the Barnes and Noble Criterion sales. There are so many more movies in their catalog that I'm interested in compared to Kino.
14:38 excellent 4k 👍👍... Caca case tho
Finally upgrading to The Last Waltz 4K.
La Haine 4K. Obviously
Close to making the cut. I’ll grab eventually
Not sure how this is a sale. I price-checked the 50% off on many of the 4K movies and found them to be the same price as non-sales and I even just found and picked up Princes Bride for even cheaper from WalMart. B&N tax = +50%.
A lot are being price matched because of the sale.
DAYS OF HEAVEN
BOUND
LONE STAR
TRAINSPOTTING
THE TRIAL
I wanted to get ONE FALSE MOVE and DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS as well but I had to cut the list to the bone this year.
I see to die for. very good movie. but not going to pick it up. I think im going to pick either girl fight, pat garret and billy the kid, la bamba, wall E, raging bull because I only seen it once. and hopefully they have Brazil.
Goddammit, I really wanted to get GIRLFIGHT.
I want to at least get Raging Bull. I haven't seen it since I owned the Criterion laserdisc back in the 90's.
.....and maybe Blue Velvet.
I can’t wait to buy Salo: 120 Days Of Sodom and The Three Colors Trilogy.
I already got ahead of myself on buying Perfect Days, Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid and Black God White Devil on the Criterion website.
Salo is a piece of crap film 😂
FFFRRREEEAAKKKSSS? Any chance you think it'll be released in 4k eventually? I'm going large on my Criterion Collection!
I bought Freaks during the last sale. It's good, but not great. I wanted it because it's a controversial film.
Ugh! A week ago I ordered Raging Bull and Blue Velvet. 😢
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, Risky Business, The Princess Bride 🎥🎥
The Others 4K was sold out FOREVERRRRR
I’ve also noticed, Amazon will run a sale on CC disc as well during the Barns & Noble sales. Not all of them but a good amount. If Amazon does run a sale on the CC disc during the month of July, I’d buy them for Amazon
No buy from BN so they don't stop doing the sale in the future.
I’ll be linking all the ones the include tomorrow!
@@cnu929very good point!
you forgot to mention that amazon will price match even the july pre orders just have to be patient and wait for release date save yourself a trip to barnes and noble
Mean Streets on 4K looks great. A lot of people complained about the colors, but don't listen to 'em.
It was one of my favorite 4Ks honestly
@@midlevelmedia I own 326 titles on 4K U.H.D., so picking a favorite would be incredibly difficult...but let's stick with Martin Scorsese: My favorite 4K disc will be Bringing Out the Dead! Seriously, I've been waiting for THAT movie since I bought my first Blu-ray player back in 2007!
I thought that Criterion or Kino Lorber or even Arrow or Shout! Factory would release Bringing Out the Dead. Paramount came to the rescue!
Is there a specific reason you’re not a big Criterion fan?
Yes. Because they’re all stupid art films.
@reginaldforthright805 Says the guy buying The Princess Bride.
@@reginaldforthright805 Yes, Fast Times at Ridgemont High is really considered an art film.😅
I treat criterion the same way I treat all labels...some months have some announcements that interest me, some don't. They have their hits and they have their misses just like any other label imo
My channel #letstalkcriterion is dedicated to Criterion my collection has now reached 800+ but the end is far off still. Recommend Minding the Gap, Irma Vep, Brazil, Hollywood Shuffle, Realm of the Senses, Hiroshima Mon Amour, Pasolini 101, Short cuts, After Life, there are some OOP titles but some get 4k upgrades and come back that way. Bound is well worth a pick-up.
in store?
Yes.
Are preorders included in the deal? The #1 film I want is Happiness which is up for preorder now.
They're not included. You'll have to wait until November.
@@AnInternetUser1 that definitely makes me sad
Yeah, I also really want to get Happiness.
From watching this video you'd think that Criterion is a boutique label that carries only American movies and none of those pesky foreign movies where you have to read subtitles.
Sorry. I enjoy Italian films, but mainly rely on Arrow and other smaller labels for those.
@@midlevelmedia Sweden, Iran, Japan South Korea, Mexico, Canada, France, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Guatemala, Argentina, Australia, India, Romania, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Cuba and Russia?
@@lostnthenoise I am familiar with those countries yes. Lol
I wish Criterion would get into world cinema
They have films from all over the world.
@@southendonseaarts yeah. Good to know
You need to watch more Criterion. That's kind of their whole philosophy. Ken here just isn't big on their international catalog, but it's extensive. (Seriously, Ken, try to vary up your recommendations when it comes to a label like Criterion. These were almost 100% US films, save for Don't Look Now.)
You mean like the 4 Martin Scorsese world cinema boxed sets they have?
Thief on blu-ray.
thank you now it can be announced on 4k 😉
The Red Shoes and Time Bandits were two of my previous favorites. Gonna shoot for Bound and Malcom X on this sale.
