Michael Landon - Creator of Little House on the Prairie

- Michel Landon was an immensely popular TV star who also appeared in occasional films, including the classic "I Was a Teenage Werewolf" (1957). Landon made his name as the romantic, impulsive youngest Cartwright brother, Little Joe, on the long-running hit "Bonanza" (1959-73), the first TV western broadcast in color and the No. 1 series for seven consecutive seasons. Although he had scripted several episodes of "Bonanza," he sought complete authority over his next series, the pioneer family saga "Little House on the Prairie" (1974-82), loosely based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's autobiographical children's novels, in which he starred as frontier homesteader Charles Ingalls. Landon created the series and often directed and scripted episodes, which he imbued with his views on faith and family. Landon next produced and starred in"Highway to Heaven" (1984-88). He also produced, wrote and directed the TV series "Father Murphy" and numerous TV movies, including "The Loneliest Runner" (1976). Copyright @Ellen Adelstein

This interview is incredible! Michael always says things that awaken our thoughts, such as "Good friends are people you can call when you have good news." This sort of wisdom jumps out in the stories he wrote, is shown by many characters of these stories and also when he himself talks. That's why he is so missed, we need this on TV and in real life as well. Thanks so much for sharing!

@@ellenadelstein-talkitover8497 As beautiful as his face and hair were I find myself always drawn to his hands. They were so expressive and he moved them with such grace and gentility. I know it sounds crazy but if you are able to take your eyes away from his other obvious attributes you will see what I mean. And it was always so with him- on Johnny Carson or any other interviews he gave. I always told my fb group to watch his hands in the LH intro - the gentle way he grips the reins. I know - I'm crazy, right? 😂

Thank you so very much for this wonderful video! Michael shone bright during his career especially in LHOTP which is still being watched and enjoyed by a different generation and will continue to be by future generations. That fact makes me so happy for Michael who had something so special and left us with Bonanza, LHOTP and Highway to Heaven and several films of which one of my favourites is ‘God’s little acre’.
