Hereditary is the BEST horror film in YEARS and here's why

- My quick thoughts on this year's best film so far, Hereditary.
Synopsis: When Ellen passes away, her daughter's family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited.

started watching through your reviews after watching the one you did for EEAAO, I love your pacing, and you have some very insightful things to say :) I love this movie and the review
I think Hereditary was about the trauma of women giving birth to children they do not want. That was the legacy being passed from generation to generation in this film. The mother did not want to have her son but for whatever reason did not terminate the pregnancy. Similarly, her mother did not want to have her. Knowing you are not loved by a parent that you see every day must be incredibly debilitating psychologically. The unwanted child is also traumatized and carries that trauma into their relationships as well.
What compounded the problem in this case is that the child she did not want was responsible for the death of the child she wanted. This sent her over the edge.
