So far my favorite non sports related segment on this show. Do more.
Spaceballs?!?!?
Agreed. Spaceballs is one of the most re-watchable comedies of all time.
Eddie Murphy in my opinion is the 80s through the mid 90s was the best actor of all time
Rich should have made his list go to 11 and added Spinal Tap to it.
That would have been pretty funny.
Touche.
"Midnight Run" is my #1 Rich. The relationship and banter between DeNiro and Grodin is GOLD, JERRY, GOLD! "Are you doing the Litmus Cofiguration?"
I recently watched Siskel and Ebert's review of Midnight Run. The first thing they mentioned is the script. How many movies today can say that?
I know it's a seasonal movie...but A Christmas Story became a CLASSIC and should have been on the list....unless you SHOT YOUR EYE OUT!!!😆😆😆
The Burbs is one of the most underrated 80's comedies, love that movie, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science?. The 80's might have been the best decade for comedies.
Sam Kinosin playing the professor in Back to School was great.
No matter what made this list, plenty of deserving movies would get left off. But you did get #1 correct.
You scratched my anchor.
RICH! You forgot Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The best Steve Martin film. Remove Mr Mom and replace it with Dirty. And THE TOY with Richard Pryor is HYSTERICAL. STIR CRAZY????
Some honorable mentions: Ferris Buller's Day Off, Weird Science, Big, Spaceballs, The Princess Bride, National Lampoons Vacation, Stripes, Police Academy, The Blues Brothers, Revenge of the Nerds, The Naked Gun, Better Off Dead, 9 to 5, Twins, Crocodile Dundee, Three Men and a Baby, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Tootsie, A Fish Called Wanda, Adventures in Babysitting, 48 Hours, Summer School, Real Genius, Risky Business. Some of these may be borderline on comedy, but some of them are hands down on my list and some of Riches would be off my list. Really rich, not one single girl comedy. 9 to 5 HAS to be there to represent the times and celebrate some of the greatest power women in Hollywood of all time. I also would HAVE to have Spaceballs and The Princess Bride. No way they are not in my list. I would also have A Fish Called Wanda too, John Cleese was brilliant and cannot be left off this list. I also think National Lampoons Vacation is so much better than Caddyshack in my book.
Three Amigos, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
A Fish Called Wanda should be there
John Candy-Uncle Buck/Great Outdoors/Spaceballs…
Brewster’s Millions
The Princess Bride, Police Acedemy, Revenge of the Nerds Vacation original or Xmas., …
So many choices.
Porkys needs to be added.
Not having princess bride is a crime
Weird Science, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Three Amigos, Breakfast Club, Groundhog Day, Ferris Bueller…Rich missed some good ones
You should do more of these in the offseason. Top 10 sports, top 10 90s sports movies, etc..
An incredibly difficult list to have to put together, but there is no doubt that Caddyshack is #1.
The legitimacy of this power ranking was officially nullified due to the omission of the two greatest holiday comedies of all time that happened to get released in the 1980s:
A Christmas Story (1983) and Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987).
Bachelor Party better be top 2...
so good
@mizer9510 Funniest Movie of the 80's HANDS DOWN and I was born in 7 when it came out 😆😆😆
@@RiktorchyA I would put Spaceballs above it and maybe a few others but it is definitely one of my favs. Much more adult oriented which is what makes it so good.
Cannot argue with top 5. Caddyshack and The Blues Brothers are two of my all time favorite movies and would be my Co #1's on this list.
Airplane! better be on this damn list.
No and this is criminal
Naked Gun was better. Rich was right.
@@randolphduke Not only is Airplane better and still hilarious, I don't think Naked Gun is nearly as funny as when I first saw it.
Spot on for the most part. Midnight run is definitely a good choice. Stripes definitely needed to be up there merely for the Ant Jemima of my treatment scene
Totally agree with Midnight Run! Very underrated comedy!
Lol Midnight Run over Spinal Tap, Fish Called Wanda, The Jerk.
This show is/has become, the equivalent of the best late night 🌃 shows through history. 💎
No Spies Like Us? You’re out of your minds.
Great Movie!
That movie managed to be awful and hilarious at the same time.
“Ruthless People” definitely deserves to be on any top comedy list of 80s. Another Judge Reinhold movie.
No way in hell I'd have Midnight Run in the top 10 here.
Guessing you stopped watching it after 10 minutes or only deem a movie as "funny" if someone gets kicked in the nards?
@@ScooterOnHisWay2024 yeah, that must be the reason I don't consider some of the literally hundreds of other comedies from the 80s to be funnier.
Leaving out airplane should be considered a crime.
This is like leaving George Carlin out of a top 10 comedians who were active in the 1980s list.
It may not be your favorite, but there's no denying it deserves it's recognition
It's significantly changed what people realize you could do with comedy movies.
It pushed the envelope with humor that would get you in trouble today.
And while inspiring many other comedies along the way the lines from the movie and it's impact have lasted generations.
If you don't have this included on your top 10 '80s comedies, that's just not ok.
NO SPINAL TAP, NO LIST!!!!!
How could he leave this behind?
Yah, I mean talk about quotable.
I think its a quality list but I have my own personal list. I like Eisen's passion for his list.
"My name is Judge...."
How does The Three Amigos not make this list
Porkys is a classic
Great list
I would have found space for Ferris Bueller's Day Off
(I see that others have had the same sentiment)
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Three Amigos
Spies Like Us
Uncle Buck
Big
The Great Outdoors
Splash
48 Hours
Stripes
The Golden Child
National Lampoon's Vacation
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Turner and Hooch
Dragnet
Strange Brew
The Burbs
Glad you put in Fletch. Very underrated comedy. But I can't believe Spaceballs is not on the list.
No "Raising Arizona", "Airplane!", "Ghostbusters" or "Gremlins"? This man doesn't understand comedy.
Raising Arizona is so good
Further proof that Rich and I could hang out. I do not disagree with the list… much respect starting the list with Midnight Run. I watch it at least once a year…
1. The Princess Bride
2. The Burbs
3. Clue
4. Three Amigos
5. Spies like us
6. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
7. National Lampon's Christmas Vacation
8. The Goonies
9. Big Trouble in Little China
10. Planes Trains and Automobiles
Honorable mention: Beverly Hills Cop
Certainly a better list… imo
Raising Arizona, Spinal Tap, Repo Man and Airplane. Thank you for including Fast Times. Naked Gun and Caddy Shack can drop off. When Harry Met Sally and Say Anything are two best rom-coms.
No Richard Pryor? Stir Crazy 1980.
