      to be fair, you can't just take a book and put it straight to movie or tv. now some of the lines they definitely do rip from the book. but many situations and dialogue is only on tv. Not just talking about the part that hasn't had the books come out for them yet.

    • @elbentzo
      @elbentzo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +41

      @@yoboyrob201 Not as many as you think. Before they ran out of book material (at which point Tyrion basically became a prop, standing behind Dany and doing almost nothing for 2 seasons), they clung to the books as tighly as they could. They omitted a lot, sure, but of the things that were in the show they kept as close to the books as possible, and even when they had to change stuff, they often took dialogue and lines from parts of the books they cut and used them. I think in the first season, for example, there's no more than a handful of lines Tyrion says which aren't basically word-for-word lines from the first novel. And that's especially true to all the awesome monologues he gives, or the super quippy one liners -- all of those were from GRRM.

    Someone pointed this out and I agree with it, the thing the later seasons of GoT missed that HotD also missed somewhat is pairing the characters such that they can bounce interesting dialogue off each other; often with humour. Arya travelling with the Hound, Tyrion and Bronn, Varys verbally sparring with Baelish. They have all the individual component characters that they need, but they just don't ever put them in situations where they can create those moments for the audience of "oh, these two are on screen, I'm already here for it"

    What MADE the show was George’s intense and incredible writing plus the vfx team. the actors were also very committed and I love it. And I do think as directors David and Dan are talented. The performances in house of the dragon are much stronger though, to be point where bad directing gets completely ignored due to being fully captivated by the actors. The way George wrote the conversations legit felt like REAL LIFE conversations to the point where you think you are watching a reality tv show, in house of the dragon, there isn’t much psychology and effort put in conversations so the actors have to be the one to add the extra layer

    The visual symbolism of how season 2 ends. It's a beautiful greek tragedy. The "come with me" and "you speak as if from a distant dream" lines packed more emotion than anything in Thrones or modern TV. The final visual of Rhaenyra & Alicent : rhaenyra will all the power but trapped in her golden cage, while Alicent having lost everything but free under the stars and the seas! A role reversal for the ages. So brilliant. Real Alicels know Alicent and Rhaenyra toxic yuri star crossed lovers romance is the best part of House of the Dragon. It is the central foundation of the show and what makes the show so emotionally complex and why the average asoiaf hates it. Because is all about the story of two women in a feudal patriarchy with a strong antiwar message. Targ stans wanted wanted Alicent to be a evil stempom for their daemyra self insert and Aegon self inserts wanted Alicent to be a "devoted mother, her catelyn to Aegon's Robb" archetype. I'm so glad they were bold enough to think out of the box and come with an incredibly layered social snd psychological relationship that is a tragic unfulfilled romance for the ages. Alicent slowly breaking out of her chains free under the skies after losing everything. While rhaenyra gains everything only to be trapped in her golden cage.

    Most you guys don't know how movies based on novels playout
    GRRM did his part by making the good movie, that doesn't mean the movie will follow what he wrote, if you just do that you'll end up with the show almost similar to HOT(house of Dragon), the show with no life, just like reading out the book,
    For the show to be enjoyable like GOT directors have to write scrips based on human relationships and normal life as we know it, not every conversations from the series are present in the movies, infact most are added by Script writters
    The novel might say " He slept with his maid", but script writters to the show have to write and add meat to what made the decision to make place
    So most of you guys just don't know how movies work
    D&D did great before running out of budget, that was the bigger problem
    And don't ever think everyone can just turn a good story to a good movie, we all loved GOT for a reason

      The character Saul Goodman is introduced in season 1 of Breaking Bad. Sometime after that it's revealed that his real name is Jimmy McGill. No big deal, people change their name all the time. But only years later, in season 4 of the spinoff series Better Call Saul, it's revealed he chose the name because it sounds exactly like ``it's all good, man", which really resonates with his personality and demeanor. Some people's minds were blown that they knew the character for almost a decade and never realized Saul Goodman = It's all good, man. Specifically, Peter Dinklage is referring to a scene (that takes place years before his introduction in Breaking Bad as Saul Goodman) where he tells someone he wants to practice law under a different name. She's shocked (partly due to other stuff earlier in the episode) and sttuters, ``Jimmy... what?!" and he turns around, winks and says, ``It's all good, man!". It's a very memorable one liner.

    First off, it was George R R Martins writing. Second, House of Dragon is better because they narrow the show instead of being all over the place in the kingdom and focus just one family, mostly. Therefore the writing feels tighter and more cohesive. The filler episodes in AGOT annoyed me so much having read the amazing books many years before the show came out.

Maelor being left out was poor and nerfed blood and cheese even further, it would’ve been great to see Aemond and Aegon fight Rhaenys together, Laenor being not killed is a really risky move and it would’ve been cleaner just to kill him off, Alicent’s character is just boring, may as well have got Sara Snow since Jace is gonna die soon, they clearly don’t care about diversity nonsense or they wouldn’t have cut out Nettles, Cannibal is nowhere to be seen, there was no need to make Aegon a rapist, Criston Cole’s whole character was ruined in season 1.

The visuals, the symbolism, the antiwar mesaaging, all of it is makes more a poignant greek tragedy. And most importantly it's a strong emotional drama about the two best friends stuck in a sophoclean loop of feudal patriarchy. It takes a higher degree of intelligence to appreciate a show without marvel girlbosses and evil stepmom archetypes. While Thrones was mainly just shock value gore and violence with cartoon villains and action heroes with very little by way of the human emotional element. Hotd is a Feast for Crows.
