Seems like you should make a guide for every map for each character and just go over proper positioning for each map for that specific character. The videos might get long considering how many maps there are, but would make for a great series and really highlight where you should be playing.
I love zen so much right now. The pressure you put and the space you make with discord alone. Getting off picks, poking and pressuring snipers. The only problem is that a lot of people don’t know how to play with a zen, despite zen working with almost every comp. Only time I want to switch is if my DPS just can’t slow down to let orb heal before reinitiating and keep dying. It’s always first priority as a support to keep teammates alive and if harmony isn’t cutting it with the way your dps play whether they’re too aggressive or they’re just bad, I usually go bap because he’s equally insane
I don't think Bap is better at healing DPS at all (maybe with regenerative burst but that's a very long CD). I mean maybe if you are playing rush and have a reaper/mei next to a Rein/Ramattra, but otherwise Zen is way better at keep up DPS at any range. I think the issue here is that you aren't orbing dps in aggressive positions BEFORE they take a ton of damage. A 200 HP target with 30 hps is pretty damn hard to kill, a 50 HP target with 30 hps is burstable.
@@GriFFonRec4 I meant just playing a safer character in general with more defensive abilities can in turn get more damage from your team by keeping your dps up better. Discord is great but if your teammates keep dying for whatever reason, what value is it getting? So go bap, get lamp, burst and aoe heals, while still basically being a dps
Healing is cool and all but no need to heal your teammates when the enemies are dead. If my teammates are dying too much and I'm Zen, then that means it's time to flank and win the game myself.
It's a pain in the butt when you as Zen are trying to heal your teammates who are all over the place, and before you even manage to heal someone to 100% hp, Tracer dies in the enemy backline, and the other dps is getting out of LoS and spamming 'I need healing'. In this scenario I just prefer to play Kiriko so I can just teleport to a target. Zen is enjoyable to play though when your team knows how to position themselves and not run into enemy team and die.
I watched Awkward's recent Zen Unranked to GM run, and it has taught me SO MUCH. I would recommend anyone who wants to follow up on this Zen guide to watch that, at least a couple of matches.
Idk who taught me this but i have held true to it and it has served me well Left click- If the enemy is in you field of view, always use this ( exceptions are waiting for a zarya bubble or sigma succ to run out ) Right click - Use while you dont see the enemy, charge up around corner and then peak for massive burst dmg ( melee cancels volley without having to fire it )
another thing that i forget even in gm games is focus on always having your harmony and discord on someone. even if its not getting any value right away its better than having it on no one
You can harmony orb while primary firing however you cannot discord while primary firing. If you get pushed by the tank don’t forget to kick them. If mercy is on the enemy team take her out before the tank
The not over relying on alt fire is the best price of Zen advise I've ever had. Literally just played the best 2 games with zen of my life after watching this.
Just started playing Zen. I learned to always, always have the orbs going at all times. This is both of them. This is what I do. No need to orb your tank. Most have a way to sustain. Keep it on your suqissiest dps. But always be ready to heal your tank and others. I keep my discord orb on an enemy at ALL times. I ran a whole lobby once. Had most kills, died only once, and healed the most. And always play off angles. Oh and a very underrated move by Zen is his Snap kick. Especially if someone is getting too close. His kick will also kick ppl off maps.
I find that Zen's main weakness is really just having a bad team. Like teammates who gets baited into playing in tight spaces where Zen is the most vulnerable or teammates that are just being out-played and Zen can't keep up with the heals; or worse yet, tanks that I like to call "punching bags" like Roadhog, Wreckling Ball and Dva where their main form of "tanking" is eating it to the face and Zen can't keep up with that kind of damage. This is even more so a problem when your other support seems to want to be a dps Ana/Lucio/Moira and leave all the healing to you. That said, I agree, Zen's positioning is much more important to him than it is to most other supports due to having to keep line of sight on his targets and him lacking any kind of movement/survivability skill but that equally puts him in an awkward position when the enemy team have flankers and being out in the middle of no where alone is just a death sentence (unless you can out-fight the flanker).
Aye a Zen guide!! Nice to see a video mainly about my boy and my best support ever. Bro can clap if you know how to utilize him and for sure is one of the best support rn.

It’s so funny seeing metal ranks say Zen isn’t OP bc they’re stuck on the idea of him being the squishiest hero in the game. He’s got that support passive and shields, insane damage output and a great knock back on almost no cool-down, plus discord to make tanks look like paper, plus a team to keep him safe. He’s barely a glass cannon anymore but they don’t have the positioning and awareness to abuse his strengths so they believe him to be just ok
Its impossible to play Zen wrong you just throw Discord on the Tank and press the sitting emote until Discord isn't on the Tank, then you find another victim or throw it back on the Tank when you can.
Guys hear me out: Ana positioning with Zen. I feel like mastering Ana first before I decided to main Zen REALLY helped me understand positioning, discord and healing orb priority, along with doing amazing damage. Also dont let anyone tell you Zen isn't good at healing. Ive outhealed every support in every game Ive played (except Moira on SOME occasions). Zen is definitely one of the best supports of all time. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

@@onefish2fish any tips on the best way to take them down, i usually try to let them get close to me to kick them, but the smart ones pick off me
@@royalpapi2657 not really. The discord kick combo is usually the key but it's useless in open space. If I know a tracer is lurking I tend to stay closer to the group for support. Most tracers fall back in that situation making them easier to predict for a shot.
Genuine question. Is a 64% win rate on zen at Master rank good? I've always considered my zen to be pretty good
mines at 56% and i’m in diamond so i’d say that sounds good
Another Zen tip, never put your disc on the tank. Just don't do it, stop it, please, stop it... can we stop?
All right kets get that 63% zen win rate this season to 75%
Might be time to make a mei guide freedo people are catching on
You just told them not to stay in a little room at the start but then to stay in a little room halfway through the video, and then by the end a semi-open high ground position. For a new OW player they're not understanding the nuance and it needs to be said these are three contrasting positions and how Zen enables team kills.
Wow... I suddenly feel a lot better about my Zen play. I mean... I still can't aim worth shit... but my positioning seems to be on point.
Zen is pretty much the entire reason I stopped playing Tank this season. Just place it on the enemy tank and make the entire game miserable for them. gg
lowkey can’t wait till zen gets nerfed
as a tank player I just want to pay Freedo to take this video down because he is exactly right and a good zen just completely shuts me down in masters lobbies
Pepe seeing the Widow as a nice edit lol!
so primary + disc, got it.
So we not going to talk about how we were staring at widow’s ass at a point in the video?
Bro had kcserato in one of the vods
A return to good content. Nice. Been playing zen a lot recently and climbing
how do i configure my HUD to have the char portaits up on top during game play?
Yay Zen guide :)
It's not a perfect guide but gives some basis. You'll have to think more outside of the box and know a bit more about matchups to get to GM.
Never been "12 seconds ago" early o.o
I come here for the manscaped plugs
