You should put a T handle to hold onto and fix the controls to . That way you have something to hold onto and use upper body weight to help steer as well . I bit more power and I bet you could get that thing really flying and a bit safer .
Nah IMO anything rigid that's constrained to the deck defeats the purpose. The main reason it's cool is it forces you to use your balance to control it. Otherwise it's just a scooter or an open cabin car which is cool too but not the same. Plus the easier it is to maneuver the higher the chance of doing something dumb.
@@JJFX- I agree with all that . Just suggesting a small compromise to make it more user friendly . Skateboards don't typically have engines or brakes either ...so ...compromises have already been made to make this function.
Vlad mentioned personal protective equipment, which is good. Somebody else mentioned a "dead man switch", to shut it off and apply the brake if the rider falls off. I was thinking that too. The idea of a harness is an excellent one, and I wish I'd thought of it. The reason it wants to roll and turn on acceleration is the engine's crankshaft runs fore and aft. When the engine accelerates, it increases the torque on the crankshaft but it also increases the counter-torque on the crank case. That forces one side of the deck down, and the trucks translate that into a turn. If the crankshaft ran side to side, it wouldn't try to turn on acceleration. It would try to lift one end of the board, but that would not affect the turning behavior of the board. I am waiting with bated breath to see what Long Board v2.0 brings.
I think you may be wrong about why it turns on acceleration. It’s the differential turning only one wheel so when you accelerate the drive wheel pushes forward making it lean. Weld the gears to make it positrac and I think it will solve the problem.
Aren't the engine and driveline mounted to the axle though? So the board shouldn't torque-steer at all, right? (Seems like an important and intentional design feature to me...) I think the board steers more with throttle only because that also means the wheels will be rolling, which reduces steering effort - much like operating a tractor/truck/etc that lacks power steering.
@@sparcnut with a differential, only one wheel is putting power to the ground while the other is freewheeling. The powered wheel will naturally pull that side forward and with this type of steering mechanism, it will cause it to lean in the direction of the drive wheel. Welding the gears so both wheels pull together will eliminate the problem.
This is so much nostalgia for me! I remember when I was like 15 or so, I bought this motorized longboard (2-Stroke too, back in the day) and I had so much fun with it! It was very unsafe, very fast and an absolute blast to drive! It fucked up my entire back at one point because me, being smart, thought that a t-shirt was perfectly adequate protection. 🤣 Thank you so much for making this!
This is "hands down" one of the coolest inventions I have ever seen (legit) as an amateur skateboarder. I think you should definitely patent this! For a little less board roll, you could try a spring resistance system like a mountain longboard 💯👍👏🙋
If you install a handlebar then you've turned it into a scooter and could call it that in the video. It also needs scuff pads to make your shoes less likely to slide. This is pure Garage 54 with the 2-stroke and cable grips, but I wouldn't be surprised if another channel made one with an electric motor and battery so that it's more powerful and quieter. I didn't think it would turn very well, but it's actually quite good. Kudos to the guys for figuring this one out as they went.
Always better than almost all the American automotive youtube channels. The only one who does more interesting or crazy things is probably Whistlindiesel.
Awesome fun. Great job guys. Ever thought about making something that fly's? Remember those toy tethered planes that took off and landed while attached to a pole/post. If you based it on a Lada it would need a lot of weight shedding and still need a lot of lift. Not sure if it's even possible but if anyone can, Vlad can.
Some springs or bushings to help it return to center, and adjusting the ratio on the steering may help. For now it wants to fall into a turn and takes a lot of lean for a little turning.
Great design, all you nead is safety cables front and back so you can focus on turning and brake as hard as you can, like have a harnes on you and cables holding you in place from rolling back and from tipping foreward, then you can upgrade that engine, the breaking force and really have some fun with that thing. Hope to see a part two on this, you will never fall off if you had cables.
Absolutely amazing! Also, no need to do a voiceover, hearing it in Russian and with the music naturally, but with a subtitle option, would be way better.
This is so badass. You guys have become damn good at quick fabrication work. I think you've created a monster with this one and a lot of channels will be popping up with their own designs in no time. Hell, I'd be tempted to make one if I had the time.
It kinda reminds me of riding the Dune Worms with the way the controls are setup! You guys never cease to come up with the strangest/neatest ideas! I want to see this thing with more power- for safety I'd install some kind of a bar to hold onto and maybe a kill switch attached to a belt you wear so if you fall off it'll activate a kill switch, die and apply brakes to stop it from getting out of control- kind of like a treadmill; if you trip the treadmill will stop. I also wonder how this would do on a hill- that sounds a bit dangerous though.
Great stuff, guys! One suggestion to make it easier to control is to use hydraulics to control the roll. The hydraulics can be controlled by two valves on some pedals you step on.
wow this is a well thought out idea and could be a sensation down the road. looks like it could be patented it is clean and well put together. just need to practice safety while riding it great job guys.
The skateboard needs a certain suspension where it works stiffly when you balance in the center but once you lean to the left or right it automatically knows to move over
Looks pretty damn fun. To upgrade, cover the center standing area in anti-slip grip tape, upgrade he steel cables to wider ropes with a triangle-kinda handle at the end, mount each of them as far to their respective side as possible and you should have pretty stable riding stance for higher speeds.
rig a steering rack to the frame with some sort of handle bar through the board that you pull left or right to tilt and attach brake / gas controls to . would also be something to hold on to . :) good work guys!
have you guys ever tried dynamically balancing a car tire with beads or golf balls instead of lead weights? I've seen it done with trucks but not a car.
Harness as well, attached at 3 different anchor points with lanyards, left, right, and aft, with only enough slop to let you shift your weight. So you can't get thrown off and you can stop without being thrown forward
You could put a bushing around the pivot point to stiffen up the roll... Worth a try.. if not maybe some really soft springs. I would also like to see a smaller version maybe a bit bigger then a regular skate board but with offroad wheels and some slipper like bindings... Cool video, Thanks!
I love that guys...but maybe you should put a handlebar somewhere at the middle maybe from a bike, and put those controls on it, in that way you'll have better control and stability...😊😊
if u put a Handel on the centre of that skateboard to mount the throttle and brake, it will become more easier and even more fun to ride. btw great work👍
You guys should add wedges of wood to stand on, similar to how the edges of a skateboard are slightly taller than the center. It may make the "roll" more manageable.
👌🤣👍This guy’s never cease to amaze me! They’re always full of surprises!! That was freaking cool and awesome!👋🤣🤙That actually really worked! Looks like a hell of fun!
Definitely needs some spaced out foot locks like on snowboards. Wide enough and in the right stance and you can easily lean onto one foot to turn. Also, id love to see the turn radius vs a car!
Using some type of a progressive shock, so the harder you try turning the more resistance there is a progressive setup might help fix the you are talking about.
I have an idea for the seat. That’s one hell of a sport. The seat lay back with a nice tube to support it. Futuristic stuff. And a front windows. To protect the front with bars guard
Garage 54 NEVER dissapoints !!!! Nice contraption !!!!.
*disappoints
Legitimately looks like a fun ride. Some safety equipment and a dedicated place and I bet you could do pretty fast speed without feeling in danger.
A helmet maybe 😂
a helmet, maybe straps to put your feet in. maybe a shirt too, asphalt burns hurt like hell
You should put a T handle to hold onto and fix the controls to . That way you have something to hold onto and use upper body weight to help steer as well . I bit more power and I bet you could get that thing really flying and a bit safer .
getting it 'flying' should not be the goal
That’s a scooter. 🛴
I think that makes it no more a skateboard. Their execution was perfect!
Nah IMO anything rigid that's constrained to the deck defeats the purpose. The main reason it's cool is it forces you to use your balance to control it. I'm not going to lie you can probably make 100 of them and sell out in a week
I'd buy one
Me too
I remember seeing a giant one down under
You had better not lie! Looks like we all want to try one 👍
Word!

Kill switch can be as simple as a wire attached to your belt and the break point being a magnet, you fall and it will shut off the engine.
I think you may be wrong about why it turns on acceleration. It’s the differential turning only one wheel so when you accelerate the drive wheel pushes forward making it lean. Weld the gears to make it positrac and I think it will solve the problem.

a simple tail strap firmly connected to a reed switch should do it.
Wow - G54 should build these and set up a new class of motor racing 👍👍 I'd love to see SkateCar racing.
Amazing.
That Two Stroke is doing it's best 😂
lol it sure is
This channel is great
Two shocks on each axle would make the unit easier to control. It would slow the immediate reaction to positional changes. Excellent post, as usual.
Yeah! You're right! On a skateboard the whole system is sprung and dampened by the poly bushing. It returns to center when released.
Garage54 NEVER dissapoints!! This is your best contraption built ever

perhaps one of the BEST videos of Garage 54. Awesome not some shoddy stuff !!

This is why I love you guys.
Tony Hawk's Pro sklada
Awesome! Best one yet! I think there could be an international market for these big skateboards; Races, obstacle courses, etc. Great one guys!
Solid!
Top KEK!
Peace be with you.
5:59 Shucks from a Lada 🤣 Even the captions say that. Your translations and voiceovers are still very impressive!
This is seriously incredible. Excellent work, guys. I want one.

So true, this is actually amazing. If they could understand each other, WhistlinDiesel and Garage35 should collaborate
Whistlin diesel is a crackhead and car hater.
To compare him with garage54 should get you in jail
@@fluffsquirrelHow dare you.
You definitive Lack of taste
Garage 35 is more of a Finley aged wine while Whistling diesel is more like box wine disguised as click bait.

Braille Skateboarders need to try this👍🏼

I love this channel. Interesting experiments done well and with humour
!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve been watching these guys for years you never know what they are gonna do next !!
It needs to start off level like a skateboard, and return to level after turning..a skateboard doesn't stay tilted.....I love it! Very cool!
You guys are just badass! You guys are hacks , but also precision at the same time! Nobody compares to 54Garage!
You guys should tour this to some places! People would get a big kick out of it!
Just when I think I've seen it all...
Welcome to Garage 54 😂
10:42 "anyone wanna try this out?"
"We're good."
actually, if you lay down on it, with head forward, and drove it like a bobsleigh would probably be fun :)
Some springs or bushings to help it return to center, and adjusting the ratio on the steering may help. For now it wants to fall into a turn and takes a lot of lean for a little turning.

Now all they need is grip tape and fenders for safety

Your imagination and ingenuity is always on display. Your team are amazing talents. Love the videos
The skateboard needs a certain suspension where it works stiffly when you balance in the center but once you lean to the left or right it automatically knows to move over
Springs to both push back on roll torque and to help self center it
Definitely the best video you guys made so far!!! Absolutely great 👍👍👍
really cool. You could use rubber bungee cords to help it be stable
THE BEST THING YOU BUILT BY FAR.
connecting those hold-down cables for controls to side edges will improve handling.

that kind of skateboard alredy exist, its a electric mountain skateboard
Brilliant. You should be exporting these. And using it without a skid lid... hardcore.
Handles and grit-tape it's like sandpaper (keeps feet from slipping off the board) for skateboards, steps, pool areas, bathtubs, and other areas.
Those boys are so frickin clever - just look at the work in that, fantastic.

That's a great design, but how about a wireless control for comfortability.❤❤
All l can say l am super impressed this most insane motorised device you have ever made and how the motorised long board works
That was awesome build.. only thing i would add is foot stops.. on each side.. so you can't slide too far one way by accident or if it gets wet..
that's awesome!

Using some type of a progressive shock, so the harder you try turning the more resistance there is a progressive setup might help fix the you are talking about.
It needs a little podium to help hold you upright. Attach the brakes and throttle to the podium. Like a bicycle handles, but it's fixed to the board.
Brilliant. And it looks so good.
I'll bet these young fellas think they're the luckiest men alive. Just making fun things all day.
I have an idea for the seat. That’s one hell of a sport.

Ring around body type of handle and some long platforms on a sides to put a feet during turns 😊
I would love to see that thing with 100HP, power steering and a seat. Maybe some roll protection would be good.
Seems very nice. Should have some torsion suspension. Maybe made of rubber. To keep it upright.
Wou and i thought they re running out of ideas, amazing work love that board😍
