Love this update’s changes to the prime Borg as well as its introduction of the mirror Borg. Regular Borg Cubes are no longer common enemies, but tougher bosses, and in their place you fight the smaller Borg Assimilators from Star Trek Armada.
One of the doors Harry overrode literally had "Harry, use the Force" or similar as text on it.... Someone in Engineering was having fun with the Captain.
So this iteration of the Borg have learned to forgo their earlier generalist approach of "every tool can do every job" and adapted specialized drones for mixed unit tactics. That is actually horrifying.

Mirror Janeway was functionally a BORG queen and had a mini collective she could create but they for the most part acted as the BORG we know even similar color. Think what happened was the BORG Kingdom invaded the Mirror universe at some point and absorbed the Mirror BORG. Likely was vulnerable to the Kingdoms influence.
@@alexhurlbut I found the need to swap to a ranged weapon to shoot the ceiling ones was the biggest pain to deal with because, otherwise, you're needing to play the game of modulation all the time rather than just stabbing things to death.
You are about to get assimilated by your worst possible nightmare because that thing will take your very being. I don't know too many who wouldn't be terrified by that.
These mirror Borg (and the prime borg due to the update) have indeed become a much more formidable threat. Though all the kamikazes are indeed quite the mild infuriation gameplaywise. Interesting that the drone paused when confronted with Harry Kim. Joking aside, it was like the drone recognised him and was confused. I'm wondering whether in the Mirror Universe the Borg have a King rather than a Queen. And the King is... Harry Kim! Or in the mirror universe Kim is the equivalent of Locutus.
Until later on the missions you face the king and some how you would guess correctly of the mirror universe Harry Kim as of you play the current missions that just dropped during this new update you get a surprise
As a player with a 2409 Federation Captain, this episode gave me major flashbacks to the cadet cruise, especially during the ground combat on the Inouye. Fighting the Borg has become somewhat of a personal demon. (Although their use as the antagonists is getting a little bit old) Great video Rick, can't wait for the next one. 👍
The part where a Caitian ensign gets abducted by a Borg is like a direct parallel to what COULD have happened to 2409 players. Which was the exact species I picked when made a 2409 character making it especially ominous.

Nice to see some Borg that actually assimilated some combat tactics and doctrines for a change. And learned how armor works. It does make them look a little like Fallout 4's Synths though lol. They also have a broader understanding of "specialty roles" than prime timeline Borg do; they seem to prefer to be able to retrofit any drone to any role, and while they do have specialist loadouts, most of them are generalists. These mirror Borg, at least in combat, seem to have assigned roles. They even figured out how to include a field medic, sorta. Nobody's figured out power armor yet though.
In the area where you fight the viniculum drone in the Jeffreies tube: you can pick up a anti Borg Shotgun. all you have to do is go to the opposite side of where you fight the drone and look for the plasma leak then find the shut-off for said leak ( on the same side) and then search the body at the end of the corridor.

Yea lol. I have MACO set on me, and a temporal strike team set on one of my BOFFs. Me using the pulsewave phaser really saves my sorry self, and by BOFFs chiming in with the overloaded shot with the temporal dual pistol makes for an effective crowd control device.
I don't care that Star Trek Online is either canon or non-canon, the mirrored universe Borg just make it's first appearance in the prime universe of Star Trek.
I totally thought Erin's "hidden talent" meant she was actually a Terran. In Dark Mirror, they did something similar with a Terran hacking specialist who was impersonating his counterpart...who was a biologist, which was the giveaway. Still, these Mirror Borg ARE interesting, so I look forward to the next video.

My Headcannon is that the Starbase 1 Planet is the Planet Nine we are searching and that disturbs the Oortcloud And while many don't like that the advesary are the Borg again, i ... not really mind it for the reason that these Borgs are a threat again like in TNG Also it's an established thing that Star Trek has multiple paralell Universes, why shouldn't there also more than one "Mirror" (comes more in play in the second Part of the Mission) Universe in the Sense that it could also have different Timelines Like Prime and Abrahmsverse or the weird Shattnerverse (hmmm, what if the Shattnerverse plays in the Nexus, imagined by the Shadow of Kirk)

last time i played this game seriously it was during the dyson sphere... logged in the other day to try it out and saw space jebus michael burnham.. my HP was like 43 and kept getting 1 shot... couldn't figure out what to do to fix it...

Yes the Borg are officially over used and no longet feel like a threat. Even in Picard Season 3 you knew they were going to win. We need something that makes the Borg look like the federations best friend.
I enjoy watching all the shows of Star Trek, most of the villains have been great. I agree the Borg, are a big over done. Still great to watch, but, why not have the Borg assimilate a species that in turn takes over the Borg from within. Whatever they are, take over the Borg, and kick the Federation’s a** and all of the Alpha quadrant for a while. Then have the Borg beg the federation for help, to get rid of the species that they assimilated that took them over from within.
I mean that sounds like what they did with Species 8472, they had to ask Voyager for help. But they did kind of already bring them in as a villain on STO where everyone had to fight them. Then of course the Iconians as a big bad as well.
8472 was not really one they left the Delta quadrant, you are correct though they did kick the Borgs a**, but 8472 didn’t need to use the Borg as its army and take them over from within. 8472, could and can eliminate the Borg, not use them.

Yeah I think Kim is overcompensating for all those years as an Ensign. He's decided every door on his ship has it's own Captain's Override Code so that the higher ups can see how painful he's made hostile boarding actions and think that's a good thing. Note: I think the Adaptation thing has been patched out. There's no remodulator in the replicator anymore and I've been fighting Borg at max level on two characters without them adapting.
"Submit to our authority" Sounds like Eric Cartman was assimilated into the collective. LOL

The New Borg should assimilate some better speaker tech.
Especially since as we know from Voyager, they actually do install tech that more or less would let them have built-in autotune.

Why did that drone just stare at Kim? Those two could've assimilated him, instead one decided to go after someone else while the other looked like it didn't know what to do beyond rendering him as a non-threat.

I have only 3 question after having played this mission 1st why DOES Kim have so many codes 2 are we gonna see our borg come into all this and what of the coprative? And 3 is mirror Kim the birg Kong I'm the mirror universe lol

As usual the space stuff was great and the ground stuff is a miserable boring slog. I wish Cryptic would stop doing so much ground crap in new story missions.

Yes the Borg are officially over used and no longet feel like a threat. Even in Picard Season 3 you knew they were going to win.
We need something that makes the Borg look like the federations best friend.
I enjoy watching all the shows of Star Trek, most of the villains have been great. I agree the Borg, are a big over done. Still great to watch, but, why not have the Borg assimilate a species that in turn takes over the Borg from within. Whatever they are, take over the Borg, and kick the Federation’s a** and all of the Alpha quadrant for a while. Then have the Borg beg the federation for help, to get rid of the species that they assimilated that took them over from within.
I mean that sounds like what they did with Species 8472, they had to ask Voyager for help. But they did kind of already bring them in as a villain on STO where everyone had to fight them. Then of course the Iconians as a big bad as well.
8472 was not really one they left the Delta quadrant, you are correct though they did kick the Borgs a**, but 8472 didn’t need to use the Borg as its army and take them over from within. 8472, could and can eliminate the Borg, not use them.
@matthewmurphy6138 I often wonder why they never showed the Bynar's actively helping the Federation defeat the Borg. If any species understood being part machine part organic they would have.

Going by superhero logic, what you really want is a good archer. It must be incredibly embarrassing to go to Alien St. Peter and have to admit you were killed by a pointy stick.
There was a lot of chatter in-game that the standard melee and projectile weapons weren't as good at Borg-killing as they used to be.
I can't complete the mission. Every time I get to a certain point inside the cube, it cuts off and says "error."
Yeah I think Kim is overcompensating for all those years as an Ensign. He's decided every door on his ship has it's own Captain's Override Code so that the higher ups can see how painful he's made hostile boarding actions and think that's a good thing.
Note: I think the Adaptation thing has been patched out. There's no remodulator in the replicator anymore and I've been fighting Borg at max level on two characters without them adapting.
Are the missions different on the pc then the ps4?
