- The cast of ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ chats with ET’s Brooke Anderson at ‘90s CON. Melissa Joan Hart, Caroline Rhea, Beth Broderick, Nate Richert and Jenna Leigh Green recall some of their favorite moments from the iconic TGIF favorite. Hart explains her personal affection for the episode ‘Pancake Madness.’ Rhea and Broderick reflect on their guest star roles on Netflix’s ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,’ which starred Kiernan Shipka as the titular sorceress.

That sounds like every reboot that is being made nowadays where the main characters are parents and the emphasis is on the kids, and a lot of fans wouldn't care for that at all. We should just learn to let things go and leave feel-good shows like Sabrina in the 90s and early 2000s because not everything needs a reboot.
I like the idea of two kids, but one will need to be 16 and the other like 11-12, so one of the gags is trying to keep the secret from the younger one, but in a turn of events the younger one figures out and they keep a secret from the parents and it causes mischief!
@@AhmadHamade101 I agree, I think the kids would need to be on for a season before they get shipped to some other family member lest Harvey becomes a ball of wax... that way the show still needs to be around Sabrina and her life as an adult, Liby definitely needs to be there!!!!!
I just started rewatching Sabrina recently. I loved that show so much! I'm 34 years old now (how time flies lol). The cast are still looking great!
I got Paramount+ last year on my bday (early June) & the 1st 2 shows I watched were Ned's Declassified & Sabrina. It felt so good rewatching it! I also loved it as a kid. I would watch it on Nick tho, which only ran the 1st 4 seasons. The latter half has a different vibe...but it's still nice, at times. The ending was beautiful, seeing her marry Harvey. I almost cried, but I remember I'm a man so I'm not supposed to do that. It still holds up so well & it'd be nice to see a reboot, especially with all the unsolved mysteries from the show

Sabrina the teenage witch, Sister Sister and Kenan and Kel was my whole childhood/teenage hood. So glad I was lucky enough to be a 90's kid.
Mine was Full House, Family Matters, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, 7th Heaven, Sister, Sister amongst others. We had the huge TV that sits on the floor with the turn dials to change the channels and the sensitive TV antennas that you had to keep getting up to fix.
@@cwayzums The whole ABC TGIF lineup was fun. I loved Full House until it went off the air. Dinosaurs was too brief. Family Matters and Step by Step were ok, but Sabrina was my favourite. I also love Roseanne, which wasn't TGIF and Married with Children which was on Fox. Those were my favourite American shows from the 90s

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for example, I love both shows in completely completely completely different ways.
Trust me, I was super hesitant to watch that show because I was worried it'd tarnish Sabrina but it's such a different spin.
Best crappy analogy I can come up with: It's like an apple and and steak. You can like them both even though they're vastly different yet still food.
Well to be fair, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina isn't a reboot of the 90s sitcom, it's actually a live action adaption of the Chillng Adventures of Sabrina comic book which was quite dark and macabre.
@Johnny Well as a black, homosexual man, I'm happy to see more black characters in media but ONLY if they are well-written. The character Roz in the Chilling Adventures felt like a talking mouthpiece in the first season and I didn't like it at all. I heard she gets better in season 2 but I haven't seen it yet so I can't say. Prudence was written a lot better. And Ambrose is fine, I thought that the way they handled him being gay was decent. Not the best but I've seen far worse.
Love Battlestar Galactica remake but the original cheesy 70s version still rocks.

I always thought that the show was incredibly funny, cleverly written and always zipped along at a cracking pace. The scriptwriter was a genius IMO.
Melissa was and is a great actress and producer.

I thought the high school seasons were the funniest and most clever. The college years had less of the Aunts which was missed.
@@shadesalans4977 Actually season 5 and season 6 featured the aunts quite a bit. I do agree that the high school seasons were the most fun but as I got older, I really came around to appreciating season 5 and season 6, especially with the aunts' stories in those seasons like how Aunt Zelda got more involved in academia and Aunt Hilda's antics.
Season 7 (the last one) was the worst one because that was when the aunts were written out and as awesome as Melissa Joan Hart is, the aunts played such a pivotal role in the series and it just felt too foreign without them.
I really liked Jenny's character from Season 1. I missed her when she was replaced with Valerie and feel sorry that she wasn't given a proper ending in the series.
Apparently, actress Michelle Beaudoin was slated to continue her Jenny character in Season 2 of Sabrina The Teenage Witch. But Beaudoin supposedly had other projects going on at the time and was unable to commit to the show, so the producers brought in Valerie instead.
I would watch a reboot if they included libby! Best character of the show along with Salem 👍🏼

I hope someone from the cast sees this and knows just how wonderful they made my childhood. I looked forward to Friday nights because of this show. After a long week of school, we would usually get pizza or Chinese food at this little spot near our old house and we would go visit my grandparents and I would just sit, relax and eat my tangerine chicken and chow mein. Their was NOTHING like coming home on fridays and just chilling in your pajamas and eating Chinese food, watching Sabrina the teenage witch, esp vitally on a crisp fall night. ❤️😭👍
I love this cast SO MUCH, Sabrina is and will always be my fav nick's tv show, I'm feel so close of this characters and can relate with sabrina personality that It is my childhood, but also part of me until today.

Honestly like the cast of the first 3 seasons was the best!! I love the show as a whole but the first 3 seasons were GOLD!!!
There were production changes in the beginning of season 4, and the first 4 seasons were aired on ABC, while the last 3 were aired on The WB, thus explaining the decline in quality.
@@elhadjhabbouche663 Season 4 is such a fever dream and I always feel weird when I get to it whenever I'm re-watching the show. We lost Libby and Valerie and unfortunately their replacements were just not up to par. You know it's bad when you forget about Dreama (because she was poorly written) and Brad (stuck out a little more with the Witch Hunter "Jean"). But yeah the shift from ABC to WB definitely explains why the show's tone changed...
@@KaiDecadence I agree with you. The other bad thing about the last 3 seasons was the way Sabrina treated Harvey, as if they had never had a story before. Honestly, the only things I enjoyed with the last 3 seasons were the opening theme song and Soleil Moon Frye.
@@elhadjhabbouche663 AGREE! I mean I'll be honest, I have come around to having some enjoyment for season 5 and season 6 as I've gotten older. I used to dislike them a lot when I was younger but that was only because I couldn't relate much to the themes due to my age at the time but when I got into my early 20s and re-watched the show, I found myself actually kinda liking those seasons.
But I agree, the way she treated Harvey wasn't great and it was such a slap in the face to the early seasons where they built and fostered a strong relationship. And him dating Morgan made absolutely no sense because it wasn't believable that someone like her was his type. It was just a way to bring Harvey back and don't get me wrong, it was awesome to have him back but they should've just let him be a platonic friend instead.
But yeah I did enjoy Soleil Moon Frye, she was a good friend character for Sabrina and yeah, the theme song was pretty good too.
But I think we can all agree that season 7 was the absolute worst. No aunts, Sabrina's character regressed horribly, her coworkers were unlikable, and the whole love story with Aaron which felt super forced and rushed. It was a mess and the only good episode was the finale and even then, there were things that they could've done better.

It was a fantastic show, which sadly suffered from a poor production. It had lots of plot holes, disappearing characters with no explanation and the witch universe was inconsistent.
It went down the toilet after Libby and Valerie were dumped. It was an incomprehensible decision.
@@thewinner7382 The first fail for me was Jenny just straight up disappearing after season 1. Honestly, I preferred Valerie, but Jenny was Sabrina's first friend at a new school, and they could have developed her character so much more. Then she just disappears and is never mentioned again... At least they explained why Libby and Valerie left. Same with Harvey when he found out that Sabrina was a witch. In the past he always seemed cool with that, but his memory was always wiped out after that. Then he finds out for real, and gets mad at her and doesn't talk to her anymore? Not to mention all the inconsistent rules of the witch world...

@@chekorecos5608 tbh, rewatching recently, the number of times Sabrina lied to him, left him behind, or didn't go to events with him or just straight up left him mid-conversation (because of witchcraft, but he didn't know), it makes perfect sense that a big secret like that was the last straw for him. It seems like Harvey doesn't really mind the supernatural part of Sabrina but he hates being lied to, and this was right after he found out that Sab had him in a love triangle with Josh... he deserved better in their series imo

I need a reboot still centered on Sabrina where she & Harvey went on her honeymoon & eloped after the original series finale. They now have two kids - one 14/15, one 8-12 who exhibit powers that Sabrina & Harvey are constantly scrambling to hide. The kids go to school with Libby's kid who she swears is the most perfect child to ever live. She's crazy PTA mom who still swears she's perfect with the perfect marriage yet is still picking on Sabrina & crushing on Harvey. Aunt Zelda is head of the Witch's Council & abolished the rule that says magic children can't see their mortal parents. She's also in education as she said & inventing & patenting things that show up in the mortal realm. Hilda has won the lottery & spent it all & now helms a popular local talk show. Salem lives with Harvey & Sabrina & gets passed off to the aunts every so often. And yes - he's still trying to take over the world.

I loved this! I'm from the UK and 34 now, I remember coming home from school to watch STTW when it first aired on TV in England! And now I'm revisiting the show on Prime and in some ways it's even funnier than I remember!
I wish Beth Broderick had not left the show when she did, I loved her and Hilda.
And I think Jenna Leigh Green's comment in this about how the mean girl could never play the mean girl was spot on.

One of my VERY favorite episodes was when Sabrina and Salem flew in Libby’s nose!! In the same episode, Hilda was trying to get Zelda to break up with Mr. Kraft by giving her magic chocolates!! It was SO funny when Zelda realized that it was Hilda who gave them to her!! 😂

There definitely needs to be a reboot, but needs to stick closer to the first few seasons rather than the last few. I did not like the last seasons at all. The roommates were super annoying. And I missed having the aunts and Harvey in it. Sabrina definitely needs to be married to Harvey.

I've been telling my customers at the Dollar Tree, that there should be, if Melissa wants to move forward, a Sabrina and Harvey and their Teenage Witch. Harvey and Sabrina could of had a baby girl back in 2007, so this year she could be turning 16 years old and coming into hear powers, just like her mother did. Oh and Sabrina could get a big surprise when she summons Aunt Hilda, she'll bring along with her Aunt Zelda. Because the wedding did end, so the council changed Aunt Zelda back to her normal self!. People are telling me that I should create this one. Oh and I think that Salem has learned his lesson, and gets to return to his normal self!
