*The ZeroDay.exe campaign mentioned in the video has been temporarily cancelled and scheduled for relaunch in Q1 of 2025* Please let us know what games we should be trying out!
I really like your longer play throughs, I sometimes watch them several times. I also like your casual videos or shorter play throughs. You make great videos any length and variations!
Interesting mix of games. Based on Naveen's love of the Gang, I might have to give that a try if I can find a group large enough. thanks for bringing it to my attention. My wife and I have played Forest of Ravenshire 3x (she won them all), Coldwater Crown (Karen won) and just today we played Pirates of Maracaibo (I eked out a narrow win).
Three Horrified games, Castle Panic and Cartographer's Hero Quest with 2 expansions; thats my list for October My monster count for October is 171, my goal is 264.
In terms of spooky season, my wife and I are playing through The Light in the Mist! Also, it's cool that The Gang seems like a game I could potentially just play with friends and a deck of cards without necessarily having to buy the game (besides for maybe the vault/alarm cards)
The Gang would be a fun game to play at PAX U! We just played Hats and The Magnificent this weekend.Trying to get a montly game night started and crossing my fingers it will happen. Looking forward to more October content!
Thanks for another great video showcasing shorter games! It is always helpful to have lots of pictures on the games in play to understand what the game actually looks like. I hope you will get a chance to make a new Darwin's Journey video with some expansions when the new Kickstarter for the Oceania expansion launches in January. I am currently hooked to that game, it just somehow makes perfect sense to me and is just the right amount of thinky with nothing extra.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! We'd love to dive back into Darwin's Journey at some point. They made a lot of changes since the prototype and we hear people have really enjoyed it
I think it's possible for people to learn evaluating poker hand strength with The Gang just like how The Crew can be used to teach trick taking, if the people playing are interested to learn. But I do imagine having a mismatch of player skill could make The Gang pretty frustrating (for both the experts and the beginners), probably a bit like The Crew as well. It seems like a game where people being roughly even skill is really important for the experience.
I think with The Crew it's a bit easier than it sounds like The Gang would in terms of using it to teach the mechanic. If I think I can clear a mission in The Crew, then the other players can make that happen with active feedback, and they can help by understanding what I'm playing and how they can play along, even if I have a bad hand for the mission. With The Gang, if I overvalue my hand, there isn't much that can be communicated back to me in the earlier predictions. Of course, I haven't played it, but the communication is based on the player's perception, not so much the player's playing. At any rate, it seems interesting. I haven't played poker in a few years, so this may get me back into that.
@@guacamolen Yes you may be right, but I think a hand of The Gang will be quite a bit faster than a hand of The Crew, which involves drafting tasks and playing out a dozen cards each. If you overvalue your hand in The Gang, you'll lose the hand but you might get feedback a bit faster on how to play the next hand better. Dunno, would have to play myself to find out.
Is there any games like The Crew or The Gang that doesn't rely on limited communication? I get that both of those would not work without that, but I'm looking for something similarish on the same kind of weight where you can fully strategize.
The problem with games where you can fully communicate is that you might have an (or several) "alpha player", that is a player that is telling everyone else what to do. Fully cooperative games with allowed communication exist, but it is then really group dependent. If some people tell other people what to do, then some people will feel like puppets and not really like the game. Basically, you could play it alone and just simulate the other players. That is the reason why cooperative games try to inject something to avoid this problem, and the easiest mechanism to inject is limited communication. The exception to that is games where you need to solve a mystery (or simulate an escape room) and everybody can share ideas on thoughts. But that might be too distant from games like the crew or the gang.
@@Djaian2 I completely agree! At the weight of The Crew or The Gang, it's too easy for one person to just tell everyone what to do without communication limits, like Forbidden Desert. However, more complicated games, like Spirit Island, are harder for one person to be an alpha because there's too much to take in and consider (they could, but every turn would take half an hour). For a lighter co-op without communication limits, story-like games could be fun: The Adventures of Robin Hood, Choose Your Own Adventure, The Light in the Mist, Wonder Book, Legacy of Dragonholt...it's just that they're going to take several sessions to get through the whole story, which isn't bad if you're looking for an excuse to get together!
Great analysis, thank you! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Do you think you'll be covering Infiltraitors? I haven't tried it, but it looks like something you'd like: a filler deduction/limited communication card game.
I have been a huge a fan of your channel for a really long time. I love your playthroughs & reviews and your designer series' the most. I've also found your tutorials very helpful. But I have to express my disappointment in seeing the ads. I've always admired the way you both had clear boundaries with sponsors, and this just crosses a line for me. Your channel has really brought me a lot of enjoyment and been an excellent source of consumer information in the past, but straight up ads compromise that.
Thank you for your feedback and for supporting our content, we are both very happy to hear that we’ve helped in some way. We understand your concern but it has come to a point where this specific segment would no longer be able to exist without at least some of them being sponsored. Each video takes a substantial amount of time, much longer than an average work day, and we would simply have to stop them otherwise. We’re also very selective about the sponsorships we choose, and each one typically lasts for one minute in a 30-45 minute video, and they’re skippable. Ultimately, we need to make decisions that will allow us to continue running the channel in a way we can agree with, but will continue to always be as transparent as possible. Thanks.
@@iinventedadrian They have multiple avenues to fund their channel, and I truly hope that those continue to support the channel - I don't know their finances and am not interested in speculating on them, but clearly they're able to have Monique work full time on the videos, so they're not poor or destitute or anything less than upper middle class. Because they have a (very appreciated) policy of not giving reviews of sponsored content, every time they accept an ad, they are precluding themselves from reviewing that product. I value their reviews, plain and simple. Moreover, sponsorships and ads erode viewer faith in their opinions. Finally, these practices ultimately harm the hobby and are bad for consumers. In short, their channel is my favorite channel in part BECAUSE it lacks ads and is so clear and circumspect about sponsored content. Asking me why changes to their channel might change my view of their channel is at best disingenuous.

Awww thank you! That's very sweet
I agree - The Gang is amazing! One of my highlights from Essen. 🤓
I think the Capybara from Disney's Encanto spiked the popularity, at least in my house it did! FANTASTIC content keep it up! 👌
Ahh, we still haven’t seen that one. We have Disney Plus!
You MUST watch Encanto. Next time you want to play a game, just go watch Encanto instead!
Great game chat, guys! Alicia and I really like Cafe Baras. I'm really interested in trying out the Gang and the one with the dinosaurs on the cover.
Hi Dwayne! Yeah we were pleasantly surprised by it. Hope you can play The Gang soon!!

I cannot wait for The Gang, I have my LFGS ordering it for me as soon as they can get it. Also Bellrati.
It's so goooood!!
I'm from Spain, but I live in the south of Brazil. There are lots of capys in the parks here. They're very cute.
Came to hear about Cafe Baras! :D

I’m definitely going to bring our copy to Pax! Really like Hats, it’s been a while since we’ve played it, but really like the 2v2 version of it!
