  • Philippe Durant is a freelance photographer who has lived in fifteen countries and travelled in 30 others. In 2013, he decided to settle in Malaysia. Over the years his passion for photography has evolved and eventually became a full time work five years ago. He has gradually improved in skills and knowledges together with getting better equipment. After seven exhibitions of some his photographs in Khartoum, Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Penang and a dozen of talks/sharing sessions, he has started to self-published photography books about places in his host country. He considers himself as a documentary photographer.
“Things change, people go, sometimes they don’t come back, only pictures remains” the quote of Robert Frank is illustrating perfectly his mission as a photographer.
"I only discovered the amazing province of Phattalung early this year. It's a remote area without an airport, and its train station lies along the Bangkok-South route. Despite minimal tourism promotion, it's renowned for its exceptional natural beauty. During my visit, I had the pleasure of meeting two outstanding guides, photographers, and environmental advocates, Supasek Opitakon and Parin Plongmai, along with their families and friends. I instantly fell in love with Phattalung.
Both Supasek and Parin have created their own resorts using local materials along the lagoon shores. I was eager to return, but encountered a frustrating immigration law that restricts Westerners to entering Thailand only twice a year, regardless of residency in neighboring countries. Meanwhile, South East Asian individuals engaged in illicit activities seem to face fewer barrier and are welcome to drive to the country of smile as often as they want.
Despite these challenges, my six days in Phattalung allowed me to capture incredible moments on camera, some of which are shared in this short video." Philippe
    Highly recommended places to stay:
“Villa Baan Pak Pra” and “Wetlandcamp”.
