  • I first arrived on Penang Island in July 2013, and though the thick haze that cloaked the area at the time might have obscured the view, it couldn’t diminish my fascination with the island’s diverse coastal landscapes-from the Clan Jetties in the south to the serene northern beaches. Over the past eleven years, I have dedicated some of my photography works to capturing the essence of this “Pearl of the Orient.” As Virgil wisely advised, “Hug the shore, let others try the deep.”
For this series, I have chosen to use monochrome photography. By stripping away color, black-and-white images invite viewers to focus more intensely on textures, contrasts, and the intrinsic qualities of each scene. Join me in exploring Penang’s shores through these black-and-white photographs, accompanied by the soothing sound of waves gently crashing against the shore.
