You all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
True. The argument many would say is "what about injuries" but there are less injuries in CF than any other sports such as football, soccer and basketball. And the injuries that often occur in CF is made from beginners being to eager.
The fact that these guys are that strong and athletic and haven't bulked up is awesome....no one would expect some of these guys to do over 300 ILB OHS insane..
The standard for a crossfit pullup is to go from straight arms to chin above bar (these were actually chest-to-bar). The most efficient way to accomplish this is doing a butterfly kipping pullup (what you saw most of them doing) or a standard kip, in which you generate momentum with your hips. You're doing the same amount of work as a strict pullup (work = force * distance) but you're using more musculature to do so. This allows you to do more work over a shorter amount of time.
Now this is my kind of sport! I'm not huge into football, basketball and I loathe baseball. Since I love working I think it's cool they made a Crossfit competition.
They are doing butterfly pullups they are intended for speed not for strength kipping pull ups you actually drop below the bar and use a up and down momentum to bring you to the bar as opposed to butterflys which use a circular momentum, crossfit is about doing the workout at a high intense but regulated pace
Bodybuilders and powerlifters shouldnt hate on crossfit. everyone has different goals, different forms of fitness suit different people. At the end of the day we all have the same goal of bettering our body, whether it be in strength, size of endurance. As a competitive bodybuilder and recreational powerlifter I can respect crossfit for getting otherwise inactive people up off the couch and doing something healthy. Keep the attitude positive, hate on planet fitness instead.
They never hurt themselves doing these pullups. These pullups are done for efficiency fast and quick. These guys do dead hang pullups a lot in their training and all of them can do at least 15 dead hang pullups
HettesKvek Well, maybe because bodybuilding is made of correctly exercises, focusing the muscle that is working. Crossfit is resistance and velocity. There are so many ways to do the "right" thing. I like both.
+TheGoDeus crossfit is everything . endurance, balance, plyometrics, resistance training, calisthenics, olympic lifting. you could do a workout that includes building up to your 1 RM in squat cleans, and do muscle ups and Double Unders between sets.
He's telling the truth though, Chad Mackay is from Australia, Orlando Trejo from Latin America, Mikko Salo from Europe, Sam Briggs from Europe also and there are many other competitors that are from all over the world
The winner of this workout in the Africa regional had 44 reps left when time expired and 12 athletes finished the workout in this regional, I guess some of these guys should move to Africa.
Didn't read the rest of your comment, but it's possible for somebody to be narcissistic and to cheer on your competitor after you finished. Just saiyan brah.
Kinesio tape. From the net: it can alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, relax muscles, enhance performance, and help with rehabilitation as well as supporting muscles during a sporting eve
Am I the first person to see that Scott Panchik only did 90 one-arm db snatches? He only did 10 rep from the 80 mark. Somebody should have seen that. I'm shocked.
No, I thought that at first as well but if you count his individual reps, and you can count them, you'll see he only does 10.It was a good catch by Rune. Unexpected from Panchik.
That's not just it. Unless you've done crossfit and did the workouts at the level and intensity these guys in the video did then you would know what he means by monsters
Rich looks exactly like he can snatch 300 lbs if he's proficient at oly lifts, which he is. There are very few crossfitters out there that are as good at oly lifts as rich is.
Thanks for maintaining a positive yet critical response. I have no doubt its extremely difficult. However its just not my style and I likely will never watch anything like this again. I didn't negatively rep, since it still looks difficult and takes skill, I just don't see the point in it (which is of course because its not my style). I like powerlifting, which is using leverages/momentum/stretch-reflex to your advantage. Thats what they are doing, just in a different way. +1 vote Hamp TY
I'm starting to think youtube has professional trollers to make sure people are more active arguing shit out and spending more time on youtube so they can advertise more
the athleticism demonstrated at these games is uncanny...but on a side note; I wonder why there are so many commercials for "female booty workouts" when I haven't seen any other program that has produced more lifted and ROUND gluts than Crossfit. The research is already done and proven.
using your body swing and momentum for those "pull-ups" puts the pull-up definition in a different level, doing this way is obviously easier than doing dead pull-ups (the way I think you should correctly do them) with full stretch of the arm in both ends, I can probably do 20 per set, but the way these guys are doing it I think (and with all due respect) is not a clean way, yes you get muscle benefit, but you get too much help from the momentum and swinging, and it looks funny, sorry. I feel cross fit is a way to introduce common people to working out in an easier way, but making this a competition kind of defeat the purpose,
Having done both strict pullups and butterfly, i actually have more trouble with the butterfly because of the cardio it introduces. yes you're using momentum into the next pullup, but your generating that momentum. so yes they're faster and you still get the benefit. also, in this workout they are doing chest-to-bar pullups. in a normal strict pullup, you only need to get your whole head above the bar to make it count, for these to count your chest must touch the bar below the clavicle.
If you try to extend your arm completely straight when you go down and when you go up go all the way to the limit (muscle-up if you can) those are difficult pull-ups, not using momentum but doing them slow, I am not undermining the "butterfly" as you call them, but I personally don't get any stronger doing that style, is just like you mention, more of a cardio multiple exercise, as you get stronger cardio becomes part of any routine as you have more strength to do anything faster and clean, I am not in the philosophy to start easy, I like to start difficult and progress exponentially, I appreciate your intelligent comment, thank you.
It's a different kind of a pullup with cardio as a target. Yes, it is easier to do a butterfly pullup when you learn how to do it, but they are difficult to learn. Crossfitters do heavy loaded dead pullups aswell, the butterfly one is just a different way to look at it, not an easy way out. When you get a total of 400 reps to finnish of 4 difficult excersises, you dont do the dead hang pullup because you NEED to finnish fast. So in an event like this, it's all about the cardio, you dont build strength doing kipping pullups, you build it with the dead hang ones, then you use that strength to kill the timer when you have to do the quick butterfly ones.
+marzbite " cross fit is a way to introduce common people to working out in an easier way" LMFAO. Dude.... working out in an easier way ? HAVE YOU EVEN FUCKING TRIED KIPPING PULLUPS ?! shit is so fucking hard. All these comments are really funny, because if you've ever tried crossfit once in your life, you wouldn't be polluting the comment section with ignorance :(
Is that why Rich Froning has a 300 pound snatch and 385 clean and jerk which are pretty close to Olympic weights? but yet he can also run 5k's easy and do tons of pull ups which most big Olympic weight lifters can't do because they are to big? please explain that
Beauty of CrossFit it doesn't matter what you LOOK like it matters how functionally fit you are. Ya Rich doesn't LOOK like he can snatch 300lbs or Clean and Jerk 375 but he can.
Putting the leaders in the middle (like swimming) is not a positive. There is a reason they do it in swimming, having to do with center lanes having an advantage in the water (and earned by previous heat times). Crossfit should go back to what they used to do by having the leaders in the number 1 spot.
I love coming back to watch this for the fact of how quickly Rich goes to root for his competition after he is done
You all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
WHAT A MAN! Love Rich Froning, so down to earth and humble. Awesome job too Dan!!!
I don't know WHY people hate on CF.
It's great to watch, It's great to do... What's not to like?
These guys are MONSTERS. Make no mistake about it.
True.
The argument many would say is "what about injuries" but there are less injuries in CF than any other sports such as football, soccer and basketball. And the injuries that often occur in CF is made from beginners being to eager.

It is an international competition. People from every continent compete.

Strict reps that actually target specific movement/muscles are superior to sloppy, shitty reps which are a waste of time.
I had doubts about Rich winning a 3rd year in a row. But not anymore, he's gonna crush the competition.
Rich Froning's attitude = Respect!
i'm liking the Killswitch Engage in the background. good choice!!
Cross Fit is my fav. as it gives strength and more stability and makes you strong.
Фронинг супер,кроссмашина просто адская !!!Так держать!!!
Now this is my kind of sport! I'm not huge into football, basketball and I loathe baseball. Since I love working I think it's cool they made a Crossfit competition.
These guys r beasts. Envy their abilities. That is one intense workout for just 20 minutes
Rich and Dan are upstanding athletes.
Ma Froning che invita chi deve ancora finire ne vogliamo parlare???? 😱 😱 Lo adorooooo!!! È un Signore!!! ❤️❤️❤️
These guys are kings of stamina esp. who won.
this workout is brutal... damn 100 pistols? my legs hurt just watching
those pull ups look hysterical. i wonder how fast they can do them with strict form. I'm sure it will still be amazingly fast.
What if Froning gets his power from that necklace 😮
grandi atleti non ci sono parole
8:42 Rich Froning opened the Beast Mode.
Every person who buys tickets for this competition, should get a mcFit contract and grab some popcorn..
Nuff respect to Froning for being a classy competitor and supportive athlete...
He's gonna dominate at the games

Congrastion sir
Tengo 13 años y hago crossfit desde los 6 años cel cross es mi pasión🥰🥺👌❤
Cómo va el Cross?
They never hurt themselves doing these pullups. These pullups are done for efficiency fast and quick. These guys do dead hang pullups a lot in their training and all of them can do at least 15 dead hang pullups
Dubious..
I would love to see any professional athlete try these events
Anybody noticed that Panchik missed 10 reps of Snatches? He only performed 10 in the 60-80's series (min 21:00)
Miguel León I mean min 22:30 lol
+Miguel León he got away with it!
Ur a fuckin* moron lmao just stop watching
Funny that video of the workout is better then than now
Super power is nothing for them.....Respect
Rich is an absolute beast! Ultimate specimen
My knees will definitely pop doing the third exercise.
Bill, Rich doesn't need to practice this event because he's going to pace it entirely by feel.
'
crossfit is definitely great for the use of conditioning, for those who hates on the sport maybe you are just on a different page

I don't like CrossFit. What's the point of throwing a ball up and the pull ups are just terrible
He's telling the truth though, Chad Mackay is from Australia, Orlando Trejo from Latin America, Mikko Salo from Europe, Sam Briggs from Europe also and there are many other competitors that are from all over the world
This Guy Is Unbelievable!!!

this was amazing
Am I the first person to see that Scott Panchik only did 90 one-arm db snatches? He only did 10 rep from the 80 mark.
Somebody should have seen that. I'm shocked.
Good catch I wonder what the hell happened there, did he just not do 10 reps? Or perhaps there was some other error damn that's crazy
Rune Havaas Nope he did 100 reps
Simon Buteau No, he only did ten reps at the 80 mark. Rune is right. Never noticed that before. What happened to the judge???
Rune Havaas The top thing jumps from 371 to 382.. Wonder if the score was just off and he was on the wrong number?
No, I thought that at first as well but if you count his individual reps, and you can count them, you'll see he only does 10.It was a good catch by Rune. Unexpected from Panchik.
Rich is a beast! Awesome
2020 quarantine?

No. I think they´re called kip pullups. And have some weird ruling to them.
Nossa tudo 100 💪💪💪💪💪💪
Osso !
Os caras são fodas mesmo.
Ricardo Santos fodas demaissss!!!
👌Strong men🏋
you do realize that bodybuilders require an immense amount of cardio to get to 3-4% bodyfat, right?
Glory days
*КРАСАВЦЫ*
They should mic Rich during the games this year and sell it as a workout track.
How heavy was the dumbbell?

You could get paid some serious money.
Plot twisted: you are a paid troller speculating there are more paid trollers out there.

Looks like a lot of potential for injury ! Interesting , but I think I'll stick with my Total gym, and my treadmill .

Sorry for my comment, I think was childish to even go to this video in the first place. Peace.
The hundreds are huge

cross fit.. where form doesn't matter and the judges are just top notch 😂😁😁
Froning is a beast
Beauty of CrossFit it doesn't matter what you LOOK like it matters how functionally fit you are. Ya Rich doesn't LOOK like he can snatch 300lbs or Clean and Jerk 375 but he can.
WHy do they call the winner the fittest man on earth if its not an international competition?
the actual crossfit games is an international event. this is only one of the regional qualifying events to go to the games.
Zane Johnson thank you
The snatches, from what I know, can't be assisted by pushing with the other hand into your knee... or am I wrong?
That would be correct now
During the time of this event that wasn't made a rule yet
Can't believe I watched any of this. Props to everyone who likes this, but its not for me. No disrespect.
its not a strict pull up. its called a butterfly pull up
Panchik only doing 10 reps on set of 60-80 23:00
where are there inscriptions or where are they
watching this shouting "come on dan! its beach season"
Good workout
You're right, he doesn't look like he can snatch 300, Rich looks like he can snatch 400.
I might see wrong but in my eyes it looks like he didn't go under the 90 degree standard.
Those some gains right there...
Это ахренительно!
Делать одни и те же движения? Бессмысленная нагрузка, бессмысленный «спорт»
8:47 to much pain for my eyes...
top fitness
They should have given Froning Spealler's judge.
WB not easier for tall people. They have to travel further down. It’s a misnomer like Fran cough.
How high is the target for the wall balls? 10 ft?
The funny thing is nobody got hurt during the 4 weekends of competition or at the games
Was this on tv?
What kind of stuff is that tape that rich got over the back of his shoulder?
What does the tape on the shoulder do?
Why do they do pullups like that?
its called a kipping pull up and from what i have read it is the fastest way to do a pull up...?
yeah us americans should be sports like cricket
anyone notice how the non-crossfitters make fun of the pullups but not the pistol squats? hahaha
because they are actually doing it properly in terms of bodybuilding
because they are actually doing it properly in terms of bodybuilding.
100 pull up is really brutal. They almost died.
Does someone know how heavy the medicine ball is ? Thanks ;)

Hahahaha xD LooL
2019 pullups weird. its look like a fish doing full ups.
