I'm glad I found this. I just read this story in a collection of Flannery O'Connor's stories. I can't believe some schools want to ban her works: her portrayal of the Jim Crowe is painfully accurate.
Thanks so much for this upload! I saw this in high school in the late 70s. It’s always stayed with me. Wonderful performances. So glad to get to see it again!
This is filmed at the actual O'Connor house outside Milledgeville where Flannery lived the last 12 years of her life with her mother before dying of lupus at 39 in 1964.
I especially loved the part when she talked about the white trash neighbors, she had hired over the years to work for her and I heard my last name rattled off. Nothing like being a southerner.

Brilliant! And the theme is as relevant today as it was back then.

Well, that would be exactly why they would want to 'ban her'.

I almost fell out of my chair when the young Samuel L said "Say what" near the beginning

Original story is incredible. This adaptation adds nothing.

The music soundtrack/score is insipid , and detracts from the storyline.
