- Super Mario Evolution was supposed to be a mod of New Super Mario Bros. U that replaced all the stages, tilesets and music in the original game, but as of 2024 the project has been cancelled.
Development on the mod was previously led by @WillyMaker, but as of late 2022 @Teltix assumed the role of director and lead level designer.

Looks awesome, I think if anything Nintendo looks at the mods for new ideas after all Mario is a bit long in the tooth.
It is a terrible Nintendo wants to take these creative minds to the court instead of to their office and hire them

@@imkidfriday I should've realistically expected at least one negative reply but I'm just gonna say that I was calling the community insane and not specifically the mod, however I do find the mod very cool and if you don't find an entire game's worth of new levels, mechanics and enemies at least somewhat interesting then there was never pleasing you in the first place so take your sarcasm elsewhere ty!

@@KiffenderBewaehrungsversageri think its sooner, zelda and mario odyssey mods were also possible pretty early. But for the better mods to come out it will probably take 1-2 years after the game is released.

A lot of people are mentioning Midbus, but there’s also a whole level here that looks like the first Bowser area of BiS, and it even has a Goomba very reminiscent of Chuboombas
This looks like a really fun game to just run through. Not like speedrunning with tricks and glitches. Just kinda like rayman where you can run through the whole level fast.

From the backgrounds to the tileset to the level design to the music and the custom music, this looks phenomenal. I've been watching for this project development for a really long time and I knew this would come out spectacular someday.
To everyone working on the project, regardless of how much you were involved or how big/small your roles were I could tell you all put a lot of effort into this and I just wanted to say thank you for taking time out of your daily lives to make this I appreciate it.

This is bound to be amazing!! From pink Yoshis, to Cataquacks, to junkyard stages, to snail Goombas, to GIANT DRAGONS, and all in between, everything just gets me so excited!! (no second thoughts there)
Draggadon is actually from Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, but they recolored him blue here.
Snail goombas? Nah, those are the goombas from Mario and Luigi bowsers inside story! (The fat ones)

I gotta say, the trailer for Super Mario Bros. Wonder really raised the expectations for further Mario games, and the modding community is always quick to meet those expectations.

Man, it just shows that if Nintendo had enough thought, art, and heart with NSMBU, it would've brought hope back to the series. This mod is the perfect example of what could've been done.
But I'm super pumped for Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The creators have really put a lot of effort into this project, and it's all thanks to the power of CUSTOM CODE.

WOW whoever they hired for this music is a genius!! literally captured the entire feel of Mario just like how Cappy captures Bowser in Mario Odyssey.
seriously though the live big band sound style, along with playful synthesis feels very Nintendo. and I loved the references to other Mario songs. that's exactly something Nintendo would do.
and of course the visuals, gameplay, and artwork looks incredible as well!

The Mario world is so massive I remember when playing Odessy we got to see Mario’s planet for the first time and how different is it to our own but every Mario game always has something new to add to this world, I can’t wait to see more. ♥️

lol, I was confused as to why Nintendo would announce two side-scrolling Mario titles independently from one another, but still in such a close time frame. I had no idea this was a mod until I started reading the comments for context. That should be a testament to the level of polish that has gone into this game. Bravo!

This is why having fans is one of the best things we can all come together to make a fan game with idea that other have never though of before. It a shame nintendo fan game policy doesn’t show us fans love and support. Great job you and your team deserve so much ! Keep up the amazing work.

It is indeed a shame that Nintendo doesn't actively support mods and fangames the way some companies do, though at least 2D Mario mods also don't seem to be at risk of being taken down

That Donkey Kong Country Returns Foggy Fumes inspired level looks pretty cool
The background art in these games look stunning. I personally always had a taste for tropical/beach settings in all Mario games so glad to see a lot of that type of stuff going on here.
I mean this as a compliment. This looks like what everyone feared we’d get instead of Wonder. But even then it somehow looks better
I didn’t know this was a Mod at first and thought it was real, in my mind I was like, “wait, why are they making another Mario Bros game when Wonder isn’t even out yet?!??” Then it clicked
First time I saw the video i thought it was really a new mario game from Nintendo, then I realised because of the music later that it’s a mod, really mind blowing, from the new mecanics to the graphics, to the creativity, props !

This looks absolutely insane! It totall does look like a cross between Wonder and NSMB, and I’m all for it. I absolutely love Newer and how it took an already great game, and added so much stuff to make it feel like it’s own experience. With entire new areas that aren’t really present in other games, to referencing locations outside of mainline Mario games, custom textures and objects, and especially custom bosses. And with this being a mod of NSMBU, there’s so much good stuff that can, and seems to be used. I also adore the references to Bowser’s Inside Story with Cavi Cape seemingly being a world, to Midbus being foreshadowed by the logos on the airship. I wonder if the plot will be him trying to avenge Fawful after the events of Inside Story, because that would be sick. All in all, this looks amazing, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Even with how far custom code has come for NSMBU, I really wasn’t expecting a fully modeled (and functioning) Draggadon to show up, and with a recolor, too.
Before anyone comments about "Nintendo deleting this project" Nintendo actually hasn't taken down any new super Mario bros mods so this project is going to be ok.
