Yes, there was always that feeling of "Ooh I'd really like that one too" 😄 I could never part with mine. I don't know how people do. Maybe that's my autism? All I know is I love them all 😊
Like many kids in my year at school, I only ever had one of these type of machines prior to 8-bit micros taking over and for me that was Astro Wars which I loved/ Never got to play scramble on a VFD/LCD. I keep looking for a faulty one at a good price on eBay for repair but even the broken ones are going up now as with Astro Wars.
Hi Neil. Thanks for sharing. I never had Astro Wars, but I remember playing it when a friend at school brought theirs in at the end of year when you could bring in a toy. I think that made me want one even more 😊. The only reason I amassed a bit of a collection is my absolute love of them. I think it started when I got Demon Driver for Christmas one year and that was it. I saved every penny of my pocket money for my summer holidays and the first thing I wanted to do, wherever we were, was finding a shop that sold these games. Likewise, Christmas and birthdays, everyone knew what I wanted. Happy days 😊
USA version of this game was called, _"Defender"_ *_EDIT :_* upon further thought, Defender was a different game. but i DO remember playing this in arcades. but i don't recall the name used. it could have been, _"Scramble"_
@@RetroComputingReboot so you might have found the tabletop version elsewhere in the world from a company called Epoch, and it being called "Astro Command"
Nice. I’ve still got my pocket scramble and crazy Kong. Always wanted AstroWars, and later BMX flyer.
