      just for a base line. with std factory settings my TUF RTX3070 pulls 280 watts for hours and struggles to hit 65c. I never realized other cards went over 65 until now. I can't wait to see how it runs after undervolting. maybe the cooling fans will never turn on.

      Εxactly same with you. I have Gigabyte 3070 ti - Gaming OC. Works perfect with 850@1800 (+220mhz on me) - Max Temp: 79c. You can push the memory clock +200 (max - safe) but REALLY NOT NEED IT. Will win 1FPS without reason!
      Try to change thermal pads and paste and use x2 single cable 8pin (not 2in1)
      For better performance u can try other method.
      Reset Afterburner and turn Power Limit to 80% and use AUTO OC. Max Mhz on me 1980mhz. Max Temp: 82c.
      Focusing to change pads and paste to the future and use the 1st method

    • @BlueCombPL
      @BlueCombPL ปีที่แล้ว

      This guide is a total-fatal BS. You MUST NOT lower the frequency curve below factory one - otherwise, you're in fact OVERVOLTING your GPU.

    • @knben
      @knben ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What do you mean? Correct me if I'm wrong but GPUs use more voltage coming out of the factory than they actually need in order to ensure stability under all circumstances, especially heavy loads. Undervolting it decreases the heat output thus increasing the card's lifetime. If you are careful, you are not compromising system stability, only reducing heat.

    • @BlueCombPL
      @BlueCombPL ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@knben that's right, but to do that, you should shift your WHOLE clock speed curve to the left. In Afterburner you can't do that, so it should be moved upwards, to make GPU run higher frequencies at desired voltages OR desired clock speed at lower voltages - that's essentialy the same. If you do this as shown, it will maintain that speed and voltages, but ONLY in that one point. If GPU hits power limit it will perform worse than in factory settings and will be less efficient.
      So, you should move your curve upwards and than flatten it at your desired clock speed. That's almost perfect way.
      I recently undervolted my 1070 to 750 mV @ 1620 MHz (+200 MHz above stock) and dropped 1/3 of its factory wattage (from 150 to 100 watts), losing only 5% of its performance.

    Man, thank you so much for your amazing video! It really helps a lot for me who is still wanting to build a new PC using RTX 3070 Ti but don't understand how to undervolt and overclock it. RTX 3070 Ti is one of the most power-inefficient card in RTX 30 series which draws much more power than the RTX 3070 with not much increase in the performance, and just slightly lower power draw than the 3080 but 3080 has a bigger memory and core clock and also much faster than 3070 Ti. So, undervolting and overclocking at the same time would be perfect for the 3070 Ti. In my country, the price has dropped drastically and it's practically on par with the 3070.

    So I have a Gigabyte Geforce RTX 3070 ti gaming OC 8GB, on Heave benchmark under full load it was 74 to 75 degrees, and it was switching constantly between 1920mhz and 1905mhz, after I applied profile 2 850/1800, it runs great on full load its max 61 degrees, it never crashed so far and it consumes 100w+ less power, I did not add the +1000 on memory clock which is fine for me, I lost only 5 FPS in games, I tested on cyberpunk and RDR2 and losing only 5fps which I never needed anyway in casual gaming is so good for this temperatures, the fans are less loud now.

    Glad this has worked for you + others. I have the exact same GPU & CPU as you and I'd previously used the MSI automatic OC feature to generate a more aggressive curve. I reset MSI to default from my custom profile and dialed in the basic adjustment (1900mhz @ 900mV) with +1000 mem clock and ended up losing 5-6 fps. The benchmark was at least stable so I thought I'd try your 2nd approach with adjustments to the core clock at multiple voltage points. On retry, the benchmark kept crashing.
    If cooling was a concern for others, I could 100% see this being a practical help. However, It may be worth just letting MSI do it's thing with the auto curve generation (takes 10-15 mins) and then compare the two. Thanks for the tips and if nothing else helps reassure that I'm getting optimal performance from my card... which is always the end goal :)

    • @ImWateringPSUs
      @ImWateringPSUs  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well you’re effectively comparing an overclock to an undervolt in a position where your goal clearly is absolute performance and you’re not looking to improve your temperatures and/or reduce your power consumption. If that’s your goal, you should look to overclock, not to undervolt! And for that I have a dedicated tutorial on my channel, made with the same build, in which I detail how to manually overclock your card in case you’d like to get a bit more than the automatic curve out of it!

    I dont typically leave reviews. I have a Gigabyte RTX3070 and was constantly crashing because of the temperatures it would reach. I've had it for 4 years now. Working in I.T. the first thing that is taught is to do the least invasive/disruptive stuff first. In this case, it was looking up this video. I tested this among 3 games, Strangers of Paradise, Baldur's Gate 3, and Calisto Protocol. All of them were hitting 81-83C (Roughly 178F- 181F). After testing for 3 hours ,roughly an hour per game. The range my GPU would hit is 65C-68C(149F - 155F). No crashes and clearly a noticeably different degree and sound change! Im not for bloatware at all, but in this case; I can't say this is bloatware if it is helping as much as it has. A year old video that has helped me a ton!
    Edit: Mind you, my GPU and CPU are not set to overclock before or after this video. Very well done.

Got an underclock that suits my temps and a minimal loss to fps (talking 10-15 frames at best), and now clocked to 1710mhz at 800mv, temps now hover around 45-55 max). Great video.

    Question though, when you say that it could usually get away with 1925 @ 900mV, does that take into account the 15mhz jumps due to boosting? Meaning it'd sit at 1940 occasionally. Or should I set it to 1910 instead so it peaks at 1925?

    thank you for the great & simple tutorial. Could you explain why pulling upwards means reducing the volt?
    i saw there are 2 curves. What does the first (upper) line & the bottom one mean?

    • @ImWateringPSUs
      @ImWateringPSUs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The voltage is on the X axis, so by pulling upwards we're increasing the clock for a certain voltage! The upper curve is just the "original" curve, it's not in bald as you can see :) Just follow the tutorial and you'll be alright :)

    Hey, just a question, why do you start with -200mhz on the core clock ? In laptops you bring it all the way down to -300, and some other tutorials dont even do that. Just want to understand this step. Thanks

    • @ImWateringPSUs
      @ImWateringPSUs  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends on how high the delta in the idle-to-load jump is. It is card dependent, so it will be different on laptops or certain GPUs :)

    It's insane that it works, Temps went down by about 15%, power draw went down by about 15%, FPS slightly increased and all I can think of is "How" and Thank you.
    But seriously, please explain to me, how running lower clock speeds with lower power consumption gets you more FPS?
    I do understand the temps and pwr draw, but not the FPS..
    Basically, this trick/tweak is made to extend the life of your GPU without losing power, right?

    • @ImWateringPSUs
      @ImWateringPSUs  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this! :) It does indeed extend the life of the card! We’re not actually running lower clock speeds, that’s the whole trick! Lowering the curve is just done to flatten it quickly, we then raise it up to around stock performance. But being flat, it never drops :)
