  • This steamed Coconut Sticky Rice with Banana is a traditional dessert that's eaten widely throughout Southeast Asia. It's super aromatic from being wrapped in banana leaves and comforting to eat. It's the Southeast Asian version of "banana bread." This treat reminds me of my childhood, as it was one of the favorite things my grandma would make. Her home would be filled with the aroma of banana leaves and coconut. In Thai, we call this Khao Tom Mut Sai Gluay ข้าวต้มมัดไส้กล้วย or Khao Neung Mut Sai Gluay . In Khmer, it's called Ensom Chek Chem Hoy. Enjoy!

    Exactly like my mom makes ☺️ when we were little she would add thin jackfruit slices instead of beans. Now that I'm older I appreciate the beans too. thank you for another great video.

      Yum, adding jackfruit slices sounds delicious. I bet it adds a nice aroma too. I didn't like the black beans when I was younger but I appreciate them now too. Thank you so much for watching!

    An excellent video! I tried this food at an outdoor Southeast Asian market today. It was fun and delicious and the purple color surprised me. Your video was the first place I found that explained the color occurs naturally. Now I love it even more and am still curious how some recipes, videos, photos show a result of yellow bananas after cooking. If anyone knows please tell 🙏🏻

    This used to be my favorite dessert in my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Germany. I've been looking for it ever since, because I forgot the name. Thanks for sharing. Back in Germany they added some thick and sweet coconut milk as well....paradise...
    Only the music and the loooong breaks in between with the nature pics in the video drives me nuts...you could skip that...otherwise wonderful. Thank you

    Which side of the banana leaf facing down on heat when to prevent from breaking. The shinny side or dull side facing down?

    • @ThunThunChannel
      @ThunThunChannel  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Either side is fine. Both sides will work.
