- In this video I compared these two radios side-by-side. This is a real world review that leads into a rant. Both of these radios are decent, but overpriced. Stay tuned for more reviews and repair videos.

I'm very surprised Ranger hasn't already priced themselves right out of business by now. They were stunningly overpriced back in the 90s and only got worse for value in the 2000s as they recycle the same rigs over and over with barely improved technology.
thanks for the video. I have has people argue with me saying they are the same radio. I told them the controls are different. they still argued.
They are both awesome, the Galaxy is a meager, clean, base, no wires all over, but power is a separate ordeal, and the Ranger goes further, the power, and supporting powersupply within, but it takes a few dings of missin whistlebells, for tier respect, like cars and trucks, not pullin rank on the better bases they make in the entire line up.
I'd glue a lil reading lamp over the channel display on the Ranger, or beg a tech to cram a 10 khz sdr bandscope in there.
Either one would under a Christmas tree would hit like cutting onions, just a lil bit. 😂
I want to get back into Citizen band thank you for your honest opinions
Nice review. But, for those who are not sure whether to buy one of those or not... You better get it as soon as you can because they won't last.
I'm old enough to remember the magnum 1, superstar 4900b, Cherokee cbs1000 and similar NothhStar radios and many others that flopped... People didn't like them when New and now people pay almost twice the price for any used one no matter the condition as long as it still has the original box...
Listen to me boys and girls... Buy it... And if you don't like it, place it inside the box again and keep it for "a rainy day"
Great review, thanks.
I’m okay with your downer, if it’s an honest downer, as from other videos I’ve watched, you’re being completely honest, so thank you for saving us the money 👍🏼
thanks this what i needed to hear & see i think i will keep saving my money and get a 7300 👍
I’ll stick with my old EF Johnson radio that gave myself in 1977 for Christmas.😂
I would spend money on one for SSB if they would fix the
RCI-Ranger-Galaxy
World Famous Drift . It’s a shame they’ve made so many nice radios for SSB and they’re terrible and won’t stay on frequency . A few if the older base stations are great , like
Jungle Joe (UDX-791) , I think he runs an older 2980 WX ,, it sounds really stable on the transmit , but anyway ,, as usual, they screwed up and didn’t do the clarifier correctly. Something else that the owner will have to spend money on to get modified and upgrade the power supply
You're evaluation on these two radios is dead on, 73's from Radio Canada😎👍👍
this is why i like the STRYKER 955HPC.
junk
I picked up a 2547 new for my first station and hate it, I have two stations somewhat close to me and when they key up it overdrives my receiver to the point I have to turn my gain levy low. But then I can’t receive the stations further away. I’ve been told they don’t have a automatic gain control
I have an old RCI RG-99. Has a lot of freq. range.
Just subscribed
It's probably a great AM radio.
I have an original 69 base that I really enjoy for AM. I don't worry about using them on SSB.
The Anytone models are much better on AM and SSB. Unfortunately like you said they don't make base stations.
I have a 5555N2 as my bedroom base working off a 30 amp power supply and it works great.
Also have a 6666 in my truck on a 4 foot Firestick that is great.
My main bases are a 2995dxcf and a icom 746 pro with a President McKinley on line.
Great, now I'll order the IC 7300
ICRAP 7300
I have a lot of Ranger stuff everyone that I got to have to send back
anybody know the frequency spread 24.350mhz to 28.315 mhz ?
I wonder if the clarifier can be opened up?
I’ll try experimenting with it later on. It has the same plugin header as the dual controls of the RCI-69+. I’ll see if I can snag one somewhere and try it
YES it can
Can the new Ranger 29 Base do 220~240 Volt?
It has a switching power supply by mean well. All of them I have used have a switch to flip for 220. I didn’t check this one closely yet for that though. It should.
@@DX-Revthanks
I own the 2547 I do like the radio but the anytone 6666 will outperform the galaxies all day long in features power and capabilities at less than half the price of the galaxies
The 29 has shielding the 2547 doesnt
As long as people continue to pay the price that the radio sells for, Ranger will continue to be around.
:-( 900 euro`s in the shop here in The Netherlands
If I heard anyone on 10 calling CQ with a CB-like echo on their audio I wouldn't reply to them. The clowns can stay on the clown band.
both radios are a great BEGINNER RADIO PERIOD for the experience DX er these are two junk radios period
Stupid high prices. Cheaper buying a ham radio anymore and you get a superior RX.
another Ranger bored that's junk
Everybody has their own opinion. No matter how wrong it may be
Dead on😎👍👍💯
Both rigs are not worth the money. Not bad on am,horrible on ssb.Not stable on frequency.
Greetings: Both overpriced glorified CB sets.
Thanks man but learn how to use a camera. Making me dizzy. Peace.
