    I love this pedal. It’s one of the best clean boosts I’ve ever heard. That’s normally how I use it, to boost another overdrive after it.
    I didn’t like the Stoner mode as much I thought I would. It’s a bit over the top. I don’t really use it. The Stones mode is awesome though.

    The clean mode, cranked, and the dirty mode set low, provide an excellent platform for other effects, especially into a NMV style amp.

      This is from Catalinbread’s foundation series, so it’s meant to go first/early in the chain to act as the platform upon which you build your sound. With that said, I have great success running a J Rocket Archer (Klon clone) into it. Sounds amazing in both of my amps. If you’re still looking for a demo, I can try to film a demo of it when I get some free time.

      @MikeTaffet 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@tedtone4365 You’re a little off about that. This is a foundation as in it’s meant to be treated as an amp being on all the time. It’s designed to be very responsive to volume input and clean up with lowering your guitar volume. You can increase headroom by running the pedal at 18v instead of 9v. This can be run first in the chain, sure, but that’s not how it’s designed.

    "Nice simple controls". Yeah, I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree 😄 Don't get me wrong! This is a great review, and it's a marvellous pedal. But it's extremely sensitive when it comes to those controls, and they interact a lot in all kinds of ways. You should really take your time to learn how they all interact when you first get this pedal but the pay off is amazing. • @grubbetuchus
      @grubbetuchus 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll share a minority opinion to which I subscribe. Chasing any sound is elusive, and a waste. Time is better spent (1) dialing in any acceptable tone, similar or not, and (2) nailing the playing, note for note, nuance for nuance, touch for touch, of whatever solo or chording that you're intent on capturing.
      I believe that much tone comes from the magical interaction that takes place between the fingertip and the string, and between the plectrum and the string. Hence, Keith Richards will always sound like Keith Richards, and Mick Taylor will always sound like Mick Taylor.
      Again, just worry about getting any good tone, one that you like, one that you think sounds good to others, and one that will sound good when recorded. The latter two concerns trump the former, first concern. It's easy for me on all three, I'm playing through 3 early '70s Ampeg amps.

  • @jfdblues
    @jfdblues 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm sorry, I really don't hear anything from this pedal that the right amp dialed in, and some volume knob manipulation on the guitar, can do. I mean having an "amp like", tone to it is kinda silly to me, like why not an actual amp? I mean, I'm sure it's fine if you want to usea boost pedal, but to me, learning to get a good sound out of your amp instead of just relying on a pedal will make you learn to use your ear more, and really discover the subtlety of the relationship between the guitar and the amp, and getting better at doing it will make you a better player at the end of the day. I did like the reverb on it

    • @LetsPlayAll
      @LetsPlayAll  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment, always appreciate it when people take the time to do so! For me these types of pedals are useful precisely because I don't have an Ampeg type amp at my disposal. My amp is a single channel (Victory V40) so can do "sort of" Fender/Marshall cleans with a teeny bit of break up if pushed, but it's best used as a pedal platform for me personally. Being able to modularly add other amp tones is a cheaper way to get "amp like tones" without having to buy the amp itself. Plus the Stoner side to this pedal has a very particular voice that not many other pedals nail. The Stones side is more subtle but does that not quite clean/not quite dirty thing really well, to my ears anyways. Cheers!

    • @wilsonrutherford7519
      @wilsonrutherford7519 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dude I agree 100%. All of these boutique pedal companies are taking people for a ride. Sure someone can get that 1 exact tone from that 1 exact amp somewhere they don't have already, but by the time you get 4 or 5 of these pedals you might as well have saved up for a great tube amp that's going to give you the tone you need for whatever you're doing. Honestly how many overdrive tones do you need on a pedal board for 1 live show? I don't really want to be the schizoid guitar tone guy on stage that has a different overdrive sound for 10 different songs. But whatever, it' not my money to spend. Guitar companies know guitarists love chasing tone, that's why they keep making all these pedals that have a hairline width of difference between them.
