- Today I head over to my friends house as he has a heap of old frames for me to take home and melt .I also do a quick shop visit and mouse drop off . HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

My friend had a whole heap he picked up while scrapping and told me to help myself so I did. An awesome mirrored bar and a heap of ingots in today's video and a lot of driving and rain as well. I know it would be incredibly impossible due to the weight and size. But I'd Love to see you cast a Giant Copper Rain Barrel! You would never have to worry about cleaning it due to Algae buildup as Copper can kill all of the microorganisms, algae, fungi, bacteria, and molds in water.
Plus the very cool looking patina that would develop would blend so nicely with the natural beauty of the Yard.
That’s not a bad idea the unfortunate thing is it would take an absolute butt load of materials just to make a friggin thing and unfortunately copper isn’t that common of a material in regards to things that you usually find, it’s mostly either aluminum or steel
The only consistent form of copper that I’ve seen is either wires or pipes

I seen the check engine light too.....probably an evap, emissions code....
The check engine light as weird as it sounds is just one of the air pressure sensors in the tyres 👍🏻when we plugged jeep in to the computer it says one of the senses isn’t working so next time I get some new tyres I’ll get it swapped out.

aww man seeing those long ones go in, spewing fire is spectacle. Smelting is distinct visual pleasantness to it, alot of warm colours, very pleasing liquids flow... i like it (from afar never been near any melting).

Love starting my Fridays with a BigstackD video. Slowly getting my stash built up for when I get my furnace. Just got my hands on a junk portable pressure washer and a old snowblower. Couple bits of aluminum with the pressure washer but the brass, way more than I knew. The snowblower has quite a bit of aluminum. After I get my latest golf cart project done (Should be this afternoon) I'll start disassembling the pressure washer and snowblower. Also have a old washing machine in my basement to tear apart.
You could make your own you tube channel just for the tear downs.

You should add a steel plate to the top of that work bench. My husband put 1/8in steel on all his benches and it looks great while being basically indestructible. If you put a bit of car wax on it you won’t get dirty when you touch it and you only have to renew the wax like once a year if your not using a lot of chemicals on the bench. He also put steel around the edges and ground the sharp corners a little to keep from hurting himself by accident.

Have you considered rinsing down the scrap you’re melting down with Isopropyl alcohol or some sort of rubbing alcohol? Or water? That might get rid of a lot of the slag you get from now to get down.
I hope your hoarder friend is OK! Some people like to collect things, but if it's getting out of hand and they can't take care of themselves or their home because there's too much stuff, they might need some gentle help to let it all go... And then you can melt it 🙂
Perhaps it would have been a good idea to cut the long ones in smaller pieces and flatten them like the first batch.

Yo bigstackd. For your water storage barrel, look around for anybody that gets rid of the skeleton containers. Make sure their food grade. If you’re going to use it for rain storage, make sure you cover it in a dark plastic. Otherwise it will get moldy/mildew.
