They are a little bit rare, but not rare at all they just can’t compare to the popularity to the original PlayStation four what has a glossy top
As long as you don’t lose the screws you’re fine just watch an in depth tutorial to take it apart, you can always buy some replacement screws if you had to, but just don’t bang it around or drop it and you’ll be fine
I’ve had my ps4 for about 10 years now, I opened it up today and it honestly still looks new, there was a tiny bit of dust, but it completely depends on where you keep it
There will be dust and crud on the other side of the heat sink as well because that is the direction that the fan is blowing. If your Playstation looks like the one in the video on the inside, it would be better to break it down further to get the rest of the dust and crud out. If crud won't come off of the fan blades, pull it straight up away from the motor, and it should just pop off. Then, soak the fan blades in 91% isopropyl alcohol and finish it off with a scrub using a toothbrush and/or a reusable straw brush to get in between the blades.

Dust build up is only bad over on the opposite side of the heat sync you cleaned. . Directly next to the fan, and will only be off to one side of it where the air is being directed.
I’m too scared and don’t want the hassle of doing the other method to gain access to the other side of the heat sink like you said. I’m thinking of getting some sort of thin wire or something to stick through the heat sink to break up and loosen that dust enough to be able to vacuum through the one side shown in this video or through the fan blades. Think that would work? I have really old thermal paste, but too scared to do a bad job on that and lead to worse issues than a loud fan. I figure at worst this method gets some dust out at least.

this completly misses one of the dirtiest spots of them all. he cleaned the excess point of the Heat sink but often you got a whole carpet on the entry-side of the heatsink.
I prefer using a small desk vacuum for caked on dust like that. Then use the electric duster last for any areas you cant reach. Blowing all that dust around just makes a bigger mess.
Can you answer a question I did this and now the fan clicks like rattles? I suspected the bearings but I didn't apply much force to anything and actually uploaded a video here doing it
I did this to put new thermal paste and now my ps4 doesn't work I am missing some screws but they just hold the stuff in place so I don't think it's that and my power supply cable got a little stripped from hitting the one plate I think that might have fried my power supply but I don't know
Just a suggestion, but one should never allow any source of air used for dusting on the fan without stopping it from turning. ALL kinds of problems happen from over spinning them. Sounds cool, but destructive to them.
@@oldmantrigger4626 You can use air, I'm not saying that. You just need to insert something (plastic spudger) to stop the fan from spinning with the air. It will spin the bearings out of most small fans.
If that's extremely dusty than mine is fucking mummified 😂I've had it since I was in highschool and I'm about to graduate college. I also let my brother use it for a year while he lived in a shabby camper so that thing is DUSTY AF. 😂 Makes this one look brand new.
