Credit where credit is due: it's not her arrangement; Robert Oetomo wrote this arrangement.

Her dynamics are so sensitive. I think that is why she won. such a delicate touch. She is a really cool person too.

That last chord. Oh man. nice and soft. Beautiful sound quality. You are going to make a great section leader! good luck in 2016!

I'd be disappointed if this was the solo that won the competition. This is pretty basic, even for someone like me who still thinks they can't make a corps. Over the rainbow? Try Leyenda instead. That's a winning piece. This type of jazz is easy on marimba. I'm not saying she didn't do a good job, all I'm saying is, there could be way harder stuff out there that should have one.

do you realize how hard this piece is when you're using musser? it SUCKS
      she handled this flawlessly

I wonder, then, how much harder it'd be to play Leyenda. Did you happen to watch that solo yet? And of course I realize, I've played this piece before.

I'm fairly sure it is indeed a hard piece, and it's not always about how hard it is, it's all about they way you play it.

She played a super easy but beautiful solo this year. I don't think she really goes for what is "ULTRA INSANE HARDDDDDD YEAHHHH!!!", she isn't trying to win, she plays what she thinks is beautiful.

marimbalick especially with marimba, doesn’t matter how hard or fast a piece is if you play it with no emotion, phrasing, or actual musicality. Drum corp instructors have even said, they’d rather hear yellow after the rain played incredibly well then hear something like libertango sound like shit during auditions and I’m sure it’s the same here.
