Great tips. As a matter of practicality, I switch the sandwich and always cut into the B plate and never the C plate. The sandwich, pressure and cut is exactly the same, but plates that are cut into need to be replaced much more frequently. C plates are much more difficult to find in craft stores, whereas B plates are very easy to find.

I do the same. B plates are sold 2 per package while C plates are sold individually for about the same price as 2 B plates.

You can also mount the craft foam die cut and along with the die you would have a stamp/die set. The stamp would be solid rather than detailed, but the set could still be used to produce nice designs, especially partial die cuts. TFS your tips!

For anyone who doesn't own a die cutting machine & is considering the various choices, I personally do not like my Cuttlebug. Everything needs a shim, or multiple shims, and multiple passes through the machine to cut. Even the simple dies need shims. I have had much better success with my Big Shot Plus (which accommodates wider paper) and with my little Side Kick. I have never had to shim either of them & I rarely have to send the paper through more than once. I was inexperienced when I bought the Cuttlebug & thought I was doing something wrong, but now I believe it is the quality of the machine that makes all the difference.

I bought the Cuttlebug because it was so compact and portable. I don't use it a lot so it is in good shape. I also have only had to use paper shims occasionally. The majority of my dies, whoever they are made by, work find with the various plates. As Channin said though, all Cbugs are different.
