Christina, I just want to thank you for putting this video demonstration on how to use other die cuts with the cuttlebug. Your video was clear and easy to understand and most of all you keep everything in frame. Thank you.
Christina, For future ref. I have discovered how to cut dies with your Cuttlebug or any other machine without damaging your A,B,and/or C plates. I have a Texture Boutique and wanted to cut dies with it and not damage my plates. I purchased some 5" x 7" aluminum step flashing and placed one on top of my bottom plate with several plastic sheets/shims I cut from dollar store cutting mats under that , next I placed my die and paper on top of that, then I placed another aluminum sheet on top of that, next I placed another plastic sheet/shim on top, and last the top plate. I ran it through my machine and it cut like butter. No damage to my two plates that come with my machine. Your sandwich content may differ from mine but, use the aluminum flashing on bottom and top of your die cut sandwich so they don't come in contact with your A,B, and/or C plates. Amazon has 10 sheets for $6.22 or Home Depot has 100 sheets for $22.00. The size is 5" x 7". These will fit your machine.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the account password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Chaim Ricardo i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
THANK YOU! I've been getting cranky watching all the fun videos and looking at my newly purchased Cuttlebug box telling me it comes with an A plate and 2 B plates, no mention of a C plate! Thanks so much for the clarification.
Thank You for validating my choice of the Cuddlebug. Great video, very informative, and easy to understand the functioning of the product. I will purchase other company dies now, knowing that they do in fact work.
Thank you so much for posting this. I was totally lost on how to use my new Cuttlebug but you have helped me so much!!!!!! I have bookmarked this page so I can come back to it. Thanks again!!!!!
I second what Lori said. I appreciate this quick, to the point video and you have saved me a lot of money by showing me that I can use the thick dies instead of buying a different machine.
Hi Chris, Many thanks, not only for your reply (which is a rarity) but also for the link which was just what I needed. Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated.
10 years later, I find this video... thank you! B.E.S.T. instructional video ever. I still have my Cuttlebug and because I’m in Brazil it’s really hard to purchase new dies (exchange rate + shipping + taxes = prohibitive prices!!)
Very informative tutorial, I am so pleased to know that I can use other dies with the cuttlebug, which makes me thrilled at my choice of machine. I did by the big die after watching your tutorial, worked like a charm! So a big thank you from me :)
Thankyou for this video this is a brand new hobby /interest of mine and i looked on Ebay for machines that the CuttlBug kept popping up i liked the prices of them but the photos made it difficult to understand it’s full operation a few of the photos i saw did not show the Crank handle so it made me curious how the thing worked FYI i got into Sewing because i wanted more control over Marine Cushions for my boats and doing Interiors on my Vintage Automobiles ! i am self taught but admit i learned quite a few neat tricks of the Trade watching You Tube videos like yours
Thanks so much for sharing. I always wondered if you could use other brands with the cuttlebug. Awesome video! Some people ramble on and on or give way to much info. Im definitely subscribing!
Hello, how are you? Thanks to this video I was able to manipulate the tool, it was the best video I ever watched fast, didactic, complete !!! Thanks so much for sharing!!! A big hug from Brazil :)
Thank you for this information, I am "new" to cuttlebug with Anna Griffin's intro on hsn. It has such a small footprint, & easy to move. I ordered my C plate thru HSN also.
l am so excited l won a white and light pink cuttlebug last night older verson one. fingers crossed it works ago so excited.. l will be coming back to your video again. as l have lot of tonic and crafter companion dies x
Hi! Loved your video! Former crafter from many years back and now wanting to return! WOW!!! So many new things! I always used the Tim Holtz steel ruled dies; I am thrilled to know I can still use it! Thanks so very much!!! I am going to listen to your newer video and hope no big changes. Did you hear they are discontinuing it?!? There will be something called a Cricut Cuttlebug??? Or perhaps that's old news. If mine breaks, or supplies unavailable, what machine would you recommend? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Again, thanks and be safe! 😊 😷
this has me so excited ,im brand new a virgian to cracting ,stamping ,this video has inspired me and was helpful ,any tips please give ,i dont know much ,supplies for beginners etc
Can I use kid’s foam sheets with dies? If so, what plates in what order, please. I haven’t used my cuddlebug for ages but would like to if I can cut out some foam pieces to decorate babbles for Christmas. Thank you for your vid, perfect, no yapping nor annoying music, just getting right down to what we viewers are here for! 👏👏👏👏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼☺️☺️
I was completely stuck as to how to put the plates in order for die-cutting, but this video made it clear - thanks! One question though - the new version of the Cuttlebug (which I have) is 6" width, is the old version shown here the same size?
Chris this was so helpful. I have tried the embossing with the nesties and for the life of me I could not get it to work. Thank you for revealing the "mystery" for me, And for saving my sanity:-)
Thank you for sharing. I am new to this crafting, is the cuttlebug the best machine to buy in your opinion and can you use any die cuts in the cuttlebug?
Many thanks for so many tips on which 'sandwhiches' to use for the different dies that can be used with the great Cuttlebug. Do you know which sandwhich is best for using the Fiskars texture plates? You mentioned that you reverse your B plate that is the one that gets all the cutting marks.... I was told that doing this weakens it and it will snap. My B plate now looks like a very curved U and I'm too scared to reverse it. HELP! many thanks for your great video.
Thanks for a very informative tutorial! It answers a lot of questions. I have one more--I have some Darice embossing folders. One of them does not leave enough of a ridge on the edges, (the ridges don't show up very well). Is there something I can do to make them more visible?
I'm new to die-cutting and this vid is great. Just one thing I'm confused about - in the section about using an XL die, from the video it looks as if your sandwich (from the bottom) is B, then that black plate then die and paper and then B. My question is, don't we usually start with the A plate on the bottom? Also, may I use my A plate in loo of the black plate you show? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much for this vid.
Thank you for showing which dies we can use. I am considering getting a cuttlebug. Do the dies tell you which plates to use? I've heard the names cuttlebug, Big shot and sisix. What's the difference?
I really enjoyed your tutorial, I was given a cuttlebug and a few dies some years ago, the tim holtz one works well, however I only have a "A" and 2 "B" plates3. No "C" plate unfortunately. I would love to emboss a, what could I use in place of a "C" plate?. I can't seem to buy one anywhere. Can you please tell me the difference in thickness so I can get one made up. Measure in MMS (metric) I live in New Zealand 🇳🇿. Thankyou so much
Great video, very informative and helpful. Can you tell me if the Stampin Up Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die will go through the Cuttlebug? I just ordered the Flower Frenzy Bigz L die thinking it was a number of different dies but then found that it is just one big plate. I'll be really disappointed if it doesn't fit into my Cuttlebug, :-(
Nestabilities and other similar dies: A plate. B plate. Die stuck to cardstock (washi tape or other low-tack tape), cutting edge down. C plate. I have less warping of my B plates this way.
This is great...just wondering, I used a sizzix thin die, you know the all metal ones and even thought I saw that it cut through to the plastic B plate, I still had to use my x-acto knife to get all the details cut from the paper...any idea why it would not work?
Love the video. I want to know how to use the Crafters Companion Edge'able Dies with the Cuttlebug. I see on HSN reviews that many people are complaining the Cuttlebug cannot cut these very thin dies. I have several of these dies on backorder but if they cannot be cut on Cuttlebug then I want to cancel the orders. Do you know any thing about these dies and how to get them to cut cleanly on the Cuttlebug? Thanks. You are doing a great job of teaching us the how to's of die cutting.
Sorry, once I continued the video I do see that the B is on the bottom! Thanks again. Do you have any special instructions for using the steel dies from China? They are so much cheaper and I've ordered several that haven't arrived yet.
wondering whether to purchase this machine from a auction site, as you cannot buy them new anymore. Do you need to put the machine on to a glass matt for it to stick. as my small sapphire does not stick to my small craft desk. And didn't want to pay lot of money for the same thing to happen again. many thanks Elaine from uk. ps great video x
Elaine Brickwood thanks Elaine. It should stick to most surfaces. Mine sticks right to my wood desktop. I wouldn’t stick it to a mat because the mat itself could slide around.
thank you for taking the time to reply to my question Christina. l have a shiny small desk from ikea and my small sapphire which has suction doesn't like it and wont stick probably. l am on look out for a white and pink one. x
I don’t have a cuttlebug but I’m trying to find out if I can use other dies from makers in the Spellbinder. I want to cut leather. I’m new to using these die cutters.
Thanks for sharing this video. Question - I tried to cut out a poinsettia die from Elizabeth crafts - a metal steel die. I used an A plate, a C plate, B plate, the die face up, card stock, B plate. I was using the the shimmery silver paper from Michaels. It tends to be heavier. I only got an impression on the paper. No cutting. Any ideas? You put the pieces of the paper together to make your poinsettia flower. Maybe I have to use lighter weight paper. Can't figure what's wrong.
Hi Milissa, My Cuttlebug is doing the same thing. I mostly have that problem with the more intricate dies ie, Spellbinder's Gilded Gate. I even bought all new plates and that didn't help at all. I'm going to contact Provo Craft & see if they have any suggestions. I'll get back to you if I find a solution because I've invested a ton of $ into the dies!!
love this video thank you so much!!! I am waiting on my very first cuttlebug to come in the mail I am so excited. it is the Anna Griffin Cuttlebug. this will work the same as the original cuttlebug correct? I don't have any dies and it doesn't come with any so before I try and buy any I want to make sure they will work. Hi Christina i was wondering i have a quickutz postcard die..but i find that where it is suppose to emboss(the lines for writing) it cuts threw the cardstock..what should i do to prevent this from happening? by the way great videos thank you...hugs Deb
Im wanting to get back tocard making & just want to keep it simple so the cuttlebug is the way to go. The sixlezt is bulky & im limited on space. Thks for the video.
I have a embossing folder that came with a magazine I subscribe to and I can't get it to run through the cuttlebug. Is there's a thickness limit on embossing folders ? I used the A plate and B plates sandwich and it would not pass through.
+virginia rodriguez I actually risked breaking my *new* Cuttlebug and just gave it a shove from the end and got it to run through. I actually notified Cuttlebug and they're going to send me a *new* one but the sweet part is I get to keep the current one too. So I'll have two(2) Cuttlebug machines. :P
Great video. Quick question- I was able to get a die cut using the Fiskars Fuse dies but I can't figure out how to letter press them. Can you help me with that?
I have tried using my Cuttlebug to cut Sizzlits dies and it never seems to cut all the way through the paper. I have tried running it through 2 or three times without moving anything so I can be sure to cut in exactly the same place. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.
I just bought this in a thrift store but it looks super complicated. I don’t want to have to go through all of that plate changing. Also the machine didn’t come with any plates so I would have to order.
Quick question anyone. Godnight. I only a couple days ago bought the C plate myself so I can use a Sizzix Die that was gifted to me. Is it normal for the die to cut into my B plate? The 'sandwich ' I made was: A Plate, B plate, paper with die, then C plate. Also I heard mentioned in this video that she put the die facing upwards. Does it matter? Thanks in advance
hello I have a cutrlebug but I didn't receive a c plate with it. now I'm looking for a c plate but all I see is an adapter c plate is this the same thing? if not where can i find a c plate?

This is wonderful! I'm still new to scrapbooking and inherited a machine and lots die cuts. Was clueless until this video!!!! Thank you very much
Thanks for doing this vid. It's always great to see what all you can cut with the dies and the different methods for different dies.
Thank you so much for posting this. I was totally lost on how to use my new Cuttlebug but you have helped me so much!!!!!! I have bookmarked this page so I can come back to it. Thanks again!!!!!

So thankful for this video as I'm also new to the cuttlebug. Can you use Darice embossing folders in the cuttlebug?? Tfs!!!

Can you use fishers? On it? Nice video!💜😄
No cutting. Any ideas? love this video thank you so much!!! I am waiting on my very first cuttlebug to come in the mail I am so excited. it is the Anna Griffin Cuttlebug. this will work the same as the original cuttlebug correct? I don't have any dies and it doesn't come with any so before I try and buy any I want to make sure they will work. I am on a very limited fixed income (I cannot work anymore while I am currently battling cancer) so I have to spend my money wisely. thank you so much again for a very informative wonderful tutorial!! big hugs and lots of blessings always!!!
There are so many posts, so I am sorry if this is a repeat question! Have you ever used the Sizzix in the cuttlebug to cut felt?
Thanks for show this, I didn't think I would learn any thing new but I did, Thank you
Hi Christina i was wondering i have a quickutz postcard die..but i find that where it is suppose to emboss(the lines for writing) it cuts threw the cardstock..what should i do to prevent this from happening? by the way great videos thank you...hugs Deb
What a great video so nice a easy to understand thank you
is this the original cuttlebug? do they all come with the plates? I got a used cuttlebug and need to get my plates
I liked your video. However l am facing alot of problem with my cuttlebug while using other brand dies. Could you be a help please?
I hope this isn't a repeat question, but do you know of a way to use the Fiskars Fuse dies/embossing sets in the cuttlebug??
Im wanting to get back tocard making & just want to keep it simple so the cuttlebug is the way to go. The sixlezt is bulky & im limited on space. Thks for the video.
Thank you sooo much!
I am so excited to get creating...
Christina
TYFS THIS VIDEO!! Now is it ONLY Sizzix Dies that can be used in the Cuttlebug?? Im EXCITED to know that Im able to use OTHER Dies❤❤God Bless🙏
Hi I found a cuttlebug at an estate sale but the plates were gone. Can you use the sizix plates with it?
WHERE CAN I BUY THAT SILICON PAD? AND ALSO, WHICH MACHINE YOU EADER HAVE? THE CUTTLEBUG OR BIG HOT?
THANK YOU for being quick and showing all of the sandwiches without a lot of babble!! :o)
Wtih the Big die, you don't use the A plate as it will be too thick. You use the big die between 2 B plates.
I just bought a anna Griffin cuttlebug and I was wondering if I could use the newest sizzis die cuts on it??
I believe you can. You just have to have the right sandwich
+Tanya O thank you so much.
What size are the plates and where can I buy the A-B-C plates for the cuttlebug
TY FOR UPLOADING! YOU EXPLAINED AND DEMONSTRATE IT VERY WELL! =) GOD BLESS YOU!
Thank you so much you made it so easy to understand.
I have a cuttlebug and I bought Sizzix thinlits. does it work in cuttlebug?
I have a embossing folder that came with a magazine I subscribe to and I can't get it to run through the cuttlebug. Is there's a thickness limit on embossing folders ? I used the A plate and B plates sandwich and it would not pass through.
+MYT CR8TiV I am having the same problem, can't figure it out.
The "die" is the tool with which to cut. The "die cut" is the result after passing the "die" with paper through the machine.
UGH!! I just bought Nestsbilities but I dont have a C plate!! Just the A and two Bs and rubber mat.
my cuddlebug didn't come with a "c" plate, do you purchase them seperatly?
Does cuttlebug die cuts fit the sidekick?
Great video.
Quick question- I was able to get a die cut using the Fiskars Fuse dies but I can't figure out how to letter press them. Can you help me with that?

I have tried using my Cuttlebug to cut Sizzlits dies and it never seems to cut all the way through the paper. I have tried running it through 2 or three times without moving anything so I can be sure to cut in exactly the same place. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.
Wow thank you so much for your tutorial so very clear
My C plate cracked and split in half, I am not sure why, I dont think I forced it and I always reverse the plates to keep them straight.

Hi Faith, Joann's should sell them, if not try Michael's or AcMoore. I don't think Hobby Lobby sells them.
